Description
When two young friends, Hope and Trusty, purchase a pair of talking birds, they have no idea what adventure lies ahead!
In this fun retelling of an ancient Greek play, we accompany Hope and Trusty to the Land of the Birds, where democratic procedures are maintained and where all birds are equal. Who is King Hoopoe? Why did he summon a bird assembly? Hope and Trusty are trespassers and must face the consequences! The birds are angry and unforgiving . . . Can the two friends win over the assembly? How do the Olympian gods get involved in all of this?
Sky Cloud City is the first book in The Adventures of Hope & Trusty series, inspired by the play Ornithes (The Birds, 414 BC) by Aristophanes. This is a story of friendship and brotherhood that highlights working together to achieve impossible goals.
The book is organized in chapters with stunning colored illustrations to encourage reading by reluctant young readers. It is an absolute must-have for those kids who love Greek mythology!
For ages 7, 8, 9, 10. Grades 2, 3 and 4 and for the young at heart.

Greek mythology is always interesting to dive into and the way its told through this is done in a way I have not seen before. I loved the art & how it subtly teaches children greek mythology whilst letting it be a fun adventure story too.
This was such an interesting book, in which greek mythology has been told in a way I have never seen before. The art was beautiful and helps to engage young readers as a fun adventure story whilst still teaching children greek mythology!

The author blends an introduction to Greek mythology with a fun story of two adventurous children - Hope & Trusty. Readers join them as they play together and explore their city. Together, they rescue a pair of talking crows and discover a hidden land of birds. Their bravery helps bring about peace among the birds, gods and humans so that everyone lives in harmony.
Simple to follow text for mid elementary level readers. The glossary and brief gods/goddesses descriptions offer further information for those who want to explore further.
