This is a great book and I can easily see it becoming a movie. The main character wakes up after an accident puzzled about her life. Can she make a fresh start or should she returned her old life? I couldn’t wait to see what would happen and I wasn’t disappointed.

Thank you Wattpad Books and NetGalley for this gripping compelling story!

The writing flowed effortlessly and the story was packed with mystery and twists as it spiralled its way to a compelling climax!
Quick paced and what a physiological thrillers this was. So many twists it has your head reeling.
Couldn't put this one down until I knew all that was going to happen.
I enjoyed the romance that was added to the mix.... But it never took away from the actual story! Loved it!

Ok, let me catch my breath.

BlackOut, by K. Monroe is going to be an instant hit. I usually avoid young adult novels but I am so happy I took a chance on this one! I was not in the least bit disappointed . This was also my first book by Monroe, but I assure you, she will be on my radar and I can not wait to see what she has in store for us in the future!

What happened to Allie? Why cant she remember anything about that terrible accident? As Allie tries to navigate through the mystery of what happened to her and who she used to be, she soon comes to discover she doesnt really like the person she was.

This book had just the right amount of romance to keep it intriguing and had the dual story line we all craved!

The character development in this novel was well done, I could visualize exactly what Allie looked like and who she was. I almost caught myself referencing her in real life.

This is a made for television type of book, If Netflix or Hulu does not pick this up I would be surprised.

I highly recommend Blackout to anyone who enjoys young adult thrillers!

Thank you to Netgalley and Wattpad Books for allowing me to read and review this book!

BLACKOUT is about Allie Castillo, a girl who was in a horrible accident causing her to lose her memories. She doesn't remember who she was before the accident, if it was one, her friends or the boyfriend she was previously broken up with wants her back and a mysterious guy wants to try and help her remember.

The story was very interesting and I really liked Allie as our MC. I always find stories like this to be a fun and mysterious read, just in time for the Fall season. I liked the characters, the writing is well-written and kept me captivated until the very last page.

I really enjoyed this mystery/thriller book a lot. Even though it was a bit predictable it kept me interested until the very end. It was a quick easy read. Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for a copy of the arc in return for an honest review!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this title.

After a car crash, Allie has amnesia. She has to learn how to navigate the world when even her mother and sister are strangers. As she starts school back and begins to encounter more people, odd dreams and flashes of strange hallucinations begin to haunt her. Are her friends really her friends, or do they have something to hide?

This was a quick, engaging little read. I found myself reading it almost compulsively, as though I couldn't put it down. It wasn't the most twisty or shocking novel I've ever read, but enjoyable nonetheless!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for allowing me to read this ARC.

I won’t get into a recap or synopsis of the book because I feel that it is well covered between the author and reviews.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the internal struggle that the MC has throughout. Her dilemma of knowing and doing what’s right is constantly at battle with finding out what kind of person she has been in the past.
I didn’t love all of the characters, but they all played a role in getting to the conclusion. The rekindling of an old friendship was a familiar, but welcome element in this story.
This is definitely a real life possible book. It had me thinking what I would do. I could not put it down. Thank had to know how it was all going to end.
I loved all the details the author gave without getting wordy. A big thank you to the author for giving me more to the story after the culmination of the plot! I have no unanswered questions.
This would make a great movie.

This is a great YA thriller, and I would recommend it to fans of the genre.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the way Alli becomes a new person after restarting her mind. The way the whole novel is written out is easy to follow and it’s fun to make connections near the end to the start of the novel. I loved the very end of the novel. It seemed like a perfect way to wrap the story. The events leading up to the ending didn’t settle with me right. I didn’t like how the mystery is just solved. I wish there was a bit more. It was a wonderful book though and I hope to read more by this author.

I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Blackout is a mystery/thriller YA that tells the story of Alina (Allie) Castillo, a popular teenager who ends up losing her memory after a car accident. As if it wasn't enough that she doesn't remember anything about her life, she also discovers that her car accident may not have been a simple accident.

As a YA, there are several typical things of the category, but I must confess that I was positively surprised. I thought it was very good. It's easy and fast to read, the mystery was good, the apprehension that Allie didn't know who she could and couldn't trust… And when the mystery really starts, I couldn't stop reading until the end.

One thing I found interesting (and positive!) was that the romance had everything set to happen. But unlike many YA with this thrope (the girl with the mysterious/quiet guy), Allie chooses to focus on herself and on her recovery. That was pretty good, because we're used to see the protagonist jumping in romances right after (or even during) going through a trauma, without giving time to heal from what happened.

If you're into mystery/thriller YA, I think you'll like Blackout a lot. It's a bit predictable, and I couldn't quite understand the motivation of certain people involved, but it's worth reading.

I just hope they fix the formatting before release, because it was really hard to read (I know it's not the author's fault, it's was netgalley's formatting, so I didn't consider it in my review).

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this and it hooked me from the beginning. Allie kept on finding more and more unflattering things about herself and her life and I wanted to know more! I thought the author did a really good job of writing the differences between Allie now and Allie before. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the end. I just didn't love it for a number of reasons.

After a terrible car accident Allie is left with amnesia that leaves her picking up all the missing pieces of her life.

She returns to her new life with her three best friends, one being her boyfriend, and more secrets than she can keep up with. Who was she before the accident? If it was even an accident..

Reuniting with her past Allie goes on a path to discover what really happened...was she really such a terrible person as everyone seems to think? As she continues to get flashbacks the pieces of that night slowly start to come back. Still Allie is left feeling helpless and as if someone may be watching her..or maybe she is just imagining things....

the part I enjoyed most was how the environment was described, the small town they lived in was painted beautifully.

This novel was easy to get into and hard to put down. The book leaves you wanting to know what really happened and all of Allies secrets to be revealed.

Can Allie trust her past or is there something more sinister brewing?

I just wanted say a big thank you to wattpad books and net galley for giving me the opportunity to read this incredible ya thriller! I throughly enjoyed reading it and I am excited for more people to read it! Thank you also to K. Monroe for this amazing novel!!

This will be posted on goodreads!!

It was a really good, well written, and very enjoyable. I honestly really felt like i was Alina when in was reading and loved getting to know each character intimately. It was a bit predictable but I like predictable when done well, and this was enjoyable it was like the feeling of reading a favourite mystery book for the first time.

My favourite thing is probably how well I got to know every character, I need more details about them and how they think and feel 😅

I'd give this 3.5 stars rounded up. I thought the writing was easy to follow, and the pacing seemed pretty good throughout. Allie is an intriguing character, and I liked her complexity. I also thought Zoe's character had good complexity (though I would've like a little more -- maybe a chapter or two from her POV, even).

The aspects I didn't like as much:
~the ending -- I felt like Allie was essentially running away. And yeah, it seemed realistic, but it also made me feel like the story was only about the mystery, and once it was solved, all the characters' purposes just stopped.
~Mason -- his character wasn't developed as much as I think it could have been, and because he played such a huge role in the last half/third of the book, it weakened the impact of the story (to me).
~ Damien -- his obsession with Allie seemed weird, and then to find out that Zoe liked him first -- and that Allie and Damien basically hooked up one night and she dated him from then on ... well, it certainly gave Zoe's and Allie's friendship a different feel.

Overall, I enjoyed it, even though I didn't love it, and the premise and intrigue was strong enough for me to keep reading (even though I guessed who was behind it pretty early on), which is why I'll round up.

BRAVA

This roller coaster mystery will grip you from chapter one until the bitter end. Leaving you flipping pages, unbelieving that could really be the end of Allie’s story.

The clues and little snippets here and there really bring this one full circle. Jealousy, lies, betrayal, and teen angst are all wrapped up in this knock-out debut novel.

“I suppose I wanted something that was mine.”

I read the synopsis on a whim, honestly. It wasn’t one I’d been looking out for. Especially since I had just come down off a mystery/triller streak in October. But I am so flipping glad I did, this book seriously delivered. The twists and turns felt timed perfectly. The fragments of memories she gets during her recuperation felt very organic, nothing felt forced for the sake of the story. This journey of self discovery, and what happened the night she lost her memories, is one you do not want to miss.

Who do you trust? When you don’t even trust yourself?

Thank you WattPad Books and NetGalley for an advanced eARC! This review is being left voluntarily, all opinions and thoughts are my own.

Thank you Wattpad Books, Netgalley and Author K. Monroe for a chance to receive and read an eARC of Blackout in exchange for an honest review. Blackout is about a girl named Allie who wakes up after a severe car accident, only to learn that she now has amnesia. In a struggle to regain her memory and figure out who she was before her accident, she starts to gain information that what happened to her might've not been an accident after all. But who would want to harm Allie Castillo? This Book is jam-packed with jealousy, betrayal, lies and a roller coaster of emotions. I was instantly obsessed with finding out what really happened to Allie and playing investigator until the very end. Blackout is a YA Mystery that did not disappoint and my first book where the main character, or any character, struggled with amnesia. It is on my list of highly anticipated/recommended book for 2022. I want to again, thank Wattpad Books, Netgalley and Author K. Monroe for the opportunity to read such an incredible book with a plot and ending that fulfilled my needs as a reader.

K. Monroe's teen/young adult novel Blackout is a winner. The book is an account of a high school senior who after an accident following a teen party fails to remember the events of the wreck, the people she knew, her high school, and family. Allie the heroine has one friend Zoe who tries to direct her and Zoe's actions lead to flashbacks and discrepancies in the story of the accident that she has been told. She begins to sense that the young woman she was before the crash was often led astray, was a problem at school, and was a major party girl. A young man that had been her boyfriend in that life turns her off and an old friend from years ago begins to play a major part in helping her reconstruct the events of the night that her mind wants to forget. She begins to regain a sense of loyalty to her once alienated family and things come together in a whopper of an ending.

The book flows well, the characters are interesting and well developed. I was involved in the story almost immediately and wanted to find the answers to the questions plaguing the good girls and guys in the book. Well written and well told. A good story for any age. Thanks to #NetGalley#Blackout for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I am SO ANGRY right now! She doesn’t end up with Mason!! Cmon that’s all we wanted from the first moment with him. Allie needed a happier ending. I know it was open ended but I hated that they went separate ways. An epilogue showing them year son the future run into each-other and still having chemistry would have been a better draw your own conclusion ending

Anyway … I though the writing was great and that there was just the right amount of suspense to keep he intrigued. There were a few chapters that were overly wordy and lost my attention a bit. I think the bones of this story were good enough and all the extra fluff and filles wasn’t necessary.
I have read several suspense thrillers lately and this was one of the best of them all. I will for sure buy a copy for my book room at release.

First, I want to thank K. Monroe, Watt Pad Books and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

WOW!! WOW!! OH WOW!! K. Monroe's debut novel Blackout had me so entranced into the storyline I just couldn’t put it down! Ohh the storyline was fascinating, deep, intense, thrilling, and shocking! Honestly, as much as I needed to know how it ended-I didn’t want it to! I needed more!! K. Monroe has serious talent as a storyteller. This is a 5 Star must read book!! I just loved it!!

Kudos to the graphic designer who created Blackout’s cover. It was brilliant! It is very eye-catching and makes you want to know more about the book.

K. Monroe would like to dedicate this book to those who have supported her from the beginning of her journey, and those who found her along the way.

Instantly, I totally fell head over heels in love with the concept of the book! I absolutely loved the fresh storyline surrounding Aline’s amnesia!! My heart totally went out to her as I felt her frustration in not knowing who she was! Many times I wanted to smack some characters for not believing that she really had it. Why would anyone fake amnesia?!

K. Monroe addresses some important topics and lessons into her storylines.

Oh how I loved the mystery of Aline finding out who she was and why this happened to her! But oh all the drama that she had to go through to find those answers.

The climax of this storyline was explosive that I didn’t see coming! However, even though I understood the reason it ended the way it did I was a little bummed! There definitely needs to be a sequel! I need more of these characters!

I’ll start with I love a good amnesia storyline! It’s a classic and when done right, it’s memorable and exciting! Wow! This is an incredible tale! Allie has been in an accident and wakes up not knowing who she is or any idea of what happened! This is an insane roller coaster ride and please don’t read reviews, so many give it away and I don’t want that for you! Just read it… go in with nothing! You won’t regret it and the experience will be totally worth it! Who is Allie? What’s going to happen! Will she remember?

Thank you, NetGalley for an ARC of this book for an honest review!!

This was an interesting thriller, with the twist of the main character has lost her memory of an accident that may not have been so accidental.

Can Allie trust her past or is there something more sinister brewing?

I would recommend this book to any YA thriller lovers, you will enjoy reading about these complex teenagers.

The author K.Monroe wrote a great book!! I would definitely recommend this book!!!

A gripping thriller that was interesting and had me flipping the pages to see what would happen next. Reading about Allie and her personality before and after the accident was interesting to compare how she has changed. A novel that I enjoyed.

This was a fun, fast read and it was exactly what I wanted it to be. Sometimes you're just in the mood for a good mean girls mystery and this itched the spot.

I found myself really enjoying the amnesia plot - a girl who is learning about who she was before her accident and coming to find that she doesn't like who she was. I also liked the extra layer it added to some of the subplots - did she actually do something that terrible? And did she want to know if she had? It was cool to have the victim in this story also be one of the suspects.

I was satisfied with the ending and the big reveal didn't seem too far fetched or downright stupid (which has honestly been happening with mysteries I've tried recently). A solid debut and I would read more mean girl mysteries from this author.

Alina, or Allie as her best friends call her, was in an accident and wakes to not remember anyone or anything. As she tries to navigate her every day surroundings, she starts to realize she didn’t like her former self or life. All these secrets and fakeness makes her question what is real. And with snippets that keep playing on and on with her accident, can she leave together what really happened to her.

This book was a very atmospheric mystery that delves into the world of a character that can change her outcome. The book talks about how we can overcome something traumatic and make it our own, instead of falling back into bad behavior. I was happy to see Allie grow and realize how precious life is.

Thank you to Wattpad books for the advanced copy!!

I was really impressed with this debut. I read it in 3 days which I've not done in a long time. Kept me guessing and glued to the pages! I really liked the lead character (after her amnesia of course). I highly suggest this book. A great read!

I enjoyed the mc despite her past. Love to see the growth. I wish that it went into more depth about the Parker situation and the Damien situation. Both left me a little confused. Was the Parker thing only one time like he said? Was she only with Damien bc he was obsessed? Hmmm.

This book will have you hooked from the first page. I can definitely see this becoming a favorite among YA fans. I really enjoyed the storyline and would recommend this one.

This was a decent book! I like the main character, but some of the plot and plot twists felt predectible and cliche. It kept me entertained, and I would reccomend it to anyone new to young adult thriller or mystery.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for the eARC of this book.

I don’t know what I expected going into this book… but that’s mostly because I didn’t read the synopsis. But, I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t read many mysteries/thrillers and I really enjoyed this. It was predictable in some moments and shocking in others, and the characters were written so well! And a big part of the suspense came from how Allie had to navigate her life after getting complete amnesia.

I read this book in about 12 hours, give or take. I couldn’t put it down and it was probably 02:30/03:00 when I finished it. I was so drawn in and I wanted to get to the ending to find out what really happened.

One singular reason, that trumps them all, that you should read this book? That would be Mason. He was by far my favorite character and even though I questioned his intentions a few times (mystery book, what else could I do?) he was really the highlight for me. He was caring and sweet, and the complete opposite of what I thought he would be, but I absolutely adored him.

The only thing that made me rate this book 4/5 stars is the ending. I loved the conclusion to the storyline… but the ending was kind of disappointing. But, I think the ending left it open for more if K Monroe ever decided to write a sequel. I’m holding out hope that she does because I want more Mason.

I really liked this book, and I enjoyed reading it. I would definitely recommend it, especially for those who want a good mystery, especially a mystery with the Amnesia trope.

Blackout focuses on a girl who loses her memories in an accident, and returns to her life realising that there's a contrasting difference in the girl she is now and the girl she was before.

I really, really enjoyed this book. The writing was good, in some mystery stories they take quite a bit of build-up in order to get-going, but I was very happy to find this one was fast-paced and intriguing from the get-go.

The characters were interesting, particularly the main character who now has to live her life without her memories and with the knowledge of the girl she was before.

Rated: 4 stars

Thank you to netgallery for letting me review this brilliant mystery!

Real Rating: 3.5/5 Stars

Well, I’d like to say I was blown away by this book, but I wasn’t. It’s not that it was bad; it’s more that it was rather average for the genre and it’s been done before. That’s not to say that I’m not exactly tired of this trope, because I’m not. I love stories having to do with amnesia. I guess that’s because I’ve experienced blackouts of my own, both from vices and from medical causes throughout my life, and reading about the same topic never stops fascinating me.

The book is well-written for the target demographic, though I don’t expect it to transcend that demographic like other books in the same genre and target demographic have over the years. The plot and characterizations are just a bit too juvenile for that.

But for a young adult psychological suspense thriller, it’s an all right read.
