So how many times have you read a graphic novel about two women in their fifties, having a passionate affair? Like me, probably zero times. That alone is worth the read.
I liked how the creator refused to shy away from the strong feelings that the women had for one another; especially lust (but it is not a "graphic" graphic novel). It seems that even the main character's friends found it difficult to believe she was experiencing such an affair.
This doesn't have a tidy wrap up and you may find yourself frustrated by the main character's disbelief that her actions had consequences, but it's an honest and true portrayal.
I liked the artwork as well, but I read it on my phone so I can't say too much about it.

This book is a good representation for the story of two women falling in love at an inconvenient time. Love is rarely convenient. When it happens, there's an opportunity to be open and accept it, or to remain closed and deny what is actually happening. Relationships can be complicated and when one lies to themselves about what they are feeling, it serves only to exacerbate the complications. Dagmar and Elise are married, to other people, when they meet. They both feel an immediate something. As the story unfolds and entwines, they both experience moments of sadness and frustration and fear and joy and happiness. Life is all of those feelings and more, this book needed to be written, needs to reach those who live a life similar.
