Description
Almost everyone is not whom they appear to be, except perhaps for Darwin Mendelson. He is a regular guy. An author and software tester. He leads an ordinary life. Until the morning he wakes up with a strange woman in his bed.
Patience Niazi is a private investigator assigned to protect Darwin from people who want to exploit his unique talents. Psychic talents. Talents he doesn’t know he has. Now he is being hounded by a secret organization of other dimensional body possessing entities intent on using him as a host for their leader, so they can launch an all-out invasion of the Earth.
If Darwin can stay alive and out of his enemies’ hands long enough, he may be able to use what training Patience can give him to save himself, his friends, and his world.

Darwin Mendelson is a software tester, gamer, author. He lives a quiet life, with his cat for company in his small apartment. He works on his game design in his company and is reasonably happy with his ordinary life. Then he wakes up one morning with a naked woman in his bed. That he doesn’t know. Has not met before. Patience Niazi informs Darwin that she is a private investigator, assigned to protect him from people who want to take advantage of his psychic talents.
Darwin's first question - what psychic talents? With the arrival of Patience, Darwin's life turns upside down. He is suddenly being chased by a secret organisation of beings from another dimension that need his psychic powers so that he can be a host for their leader. So that they can fully invade Earth. As opposed to the stealth invasion that they have been trying.
It is up to Darwin to figure out these powers, and fast. And save the world. And get the girl (but which one?). All while trying to stay sane.
This book was an absolute scifi fantasy delight. It was funny, irreverent, humorous, and above all vastly entertaining. The premise of the story is ridiculous, making it all the more entertaining. I absolutely loved it as a read. It evoked childhood memories of the Stainless Steel Rat series, the sheer joy of reading a piece of scifi that just takes you on a journey and entertains you the whole way through. Would happily read more if this becomes a series!
