Chicken Soup for the Soul KIDS: Will Mia Play It Safe?

Now this is a book my teen shelf would have really appreciated. Stepping out of comfort zone can be super scary. The fear of not being good enough and judgemental comments prevent people from participating in new suffs. Same goes for Mia who suffers from uncertainty like the rest of us. She excels at playing basketball and prefers to stick to what she's good at instead of trying out other fun-filled activities her friends are always taking about. She spends majority of her time dribbling and sharpening her skills to politely avoid their invitations. But one day, a new girl shows up in the neighbourhood whose display of courage inspire Mia to expand her boundaries and help her to grow as a person. The book conveys an important message to young readers encouraging them to be brave while exploring new horizons. The illustrations are beautiful and eye-catching. There is an additional cute little story at the end that focuses on meeting new people and overcoming shyness. Mia is so good in basketball, but she's afraid of trying to do something new. But a new friend helps her to see it otherwise. A good book for kids, always, the series might help kids overcome their fear or give insight on what they can do to be a better friend. Moreover, the authors provided some tips at the end of the book that encourage me to do more.

The Sunshine Squad is at it again, and this time they encourage children to try something new and to be welcoming to new children they meet.

This series of books is an excellent addition to any classroom and home. A great resource for socio-emotional development.
