An imperative journey through a familiar text that allows us to reimagine the Exodus story through a historical and contemporary lens. Natasha Sistrunk Robinson has written a personal, convicting and challenging Bible study. In the day in age that we live in, we all need reminders that the God of Deliverance is continuing to work on our behalf. —Khristi Lauren Adams, Author of Parable of the Brown Girl & Unbossed

Natasha Sistrunk Robinson is exactly the right woman to offer us an accessible, thoughtful, and relevant look at Exodus that will serve the whole church. This study will comfort the oppressed and challenge the comfortable and give all of us insight into God's story of redemption, both in the time of Moses and in our own time. I am so grateful for Natasha's wise words, insightful questions, and provocative reflections in Journey to Freedom. —Amy Julia Becker, author of To Be Made Well and White Picket Fences

In Journey to Freedom, Natasha Sistrunk Robinson masterfully weaves a deep respect for the historical narrative of Exodus with her own lived experience as an African American woman living in this present day. She brings us into the story as it is, not necessarily as we've always thought it to be. If you're looking for a way to study the Bible that is both challenging and accessible, you'll find it in this rich, well-researched, deeply relevant study. —Emily P. Freeman, author of The Next Right Thing

A lot of people are talking about freedom these days, and rightly so. We're surrounded by captivity: to sin, injustice, and evil. And, if we're honest, we'll confess how these captivities run through our own hearts. We need to be free! With Exodus as her guide, Natasha Sistrunk Robinson is a scout pointing us beyond bondage to the way of freedom. With wisdom from Scripture and insight from a life well-lived, Natasha invites us to actually experience the freedom Jesus promises and then shows us how. - David Swanson, pastor and author of Rediscipling the White Church

As a mother who believes children should never grow too old to be read books aloud before bedtime, I affirm that "Journey to Freedom: Discovering the God of Deliverance, An Exodus Bible Study" delivers the Moses Exodus story so that it is relatable with young ages as well as mature students of the Bible. It is the Exodus narrative that reads like any story your child begs to hear before they go to bed.. Author, Natasha Sistrunk Robinson, masterfully demonstrates the importance of traditional storytelling in African culture to teach, pass on history, remind descendants of shared legacy and to apply past lessons learned to modern-day challenges. The reflection questions help the reader to take what you learn from Moses' story and apply it to your own. I especially love how the "would be easily-overlooked" details of the Exodus story are presented in such a way to spotlight the significance of every aspect of God's plan for Moses. For example, that Moses' righteous indignation at the killing of the Egyptian beating the Hebrew slave is connected to the fact the he is a descendant of Levi who slaughtered the men of Shechem to defend the honor of his sister, Dinah who had been violated. What you thought you knew about Moses you realize there is so much there still to find out. This book is a treasure chest of insight!

As a big fan of the Old Testament, I jumped on the chance to check this study out. I cannot say enough good things about this! The insight was thorough and deep. The study itself was structured well to guide you through the book efficiently but not to where you felt like you were drowning.
I do want to note that I went into this with the thinking that it was more of a weekly bible study that one could do individually or with a group. This is a daily bible study that you could still do with a group, but I would highly recommend working through it on your own and then coming together to discuss afterward.
