The Man Across the Alley

Holly Harris and Luke Morris share more than a common outdoor patio. They also share sizzling chemistry and a habit of staring at the neighbors across the alley. What happens when they witness one of those neighbors acting suspiciously at the same time women start disappearing in the neighborhood?

I have a horrible confession to make. I only read the synopsis and was sold when it talked about True Crime blogs and a possible serial killer across the alley. So the romance was a big surprise. A good surprise since I loved Holly and Luke's falling in love while chasing a murderer. The Man Across the Alley was a solid use of the Rear Window trope. This happens to be one of my favorite suspense tropes and I recommend this book to fans of suspense and romance.

A new twist with the love aspect. Fun, quirky, cute characters that added to the story. Quite enjoyable and entertaining.

Holly Harrison and her roommate Kate had been spending more time at home in their Chicago apartment because of the pandemic. Holly passed her time by reading her favorite true crimes murder blog and hanging out on her porch. Although she'd never met most of her neighbors she felt like she knew them because she saw them so often. Her life was pretty basic until the strikingly handsome Luke Morris moved in to the next door apartment that shares her balcony, around the same time that her true crimd blog features women who have gone missing from her neighborhood. As Holly and Luke get to know each other they notice one of the neighbors acting strangely and start a stake out. It's not long before the action is way too close for comfort.

I enjoyed this read even though it was far from original. It was pretty much Rear Window with a budding yet steamy romance mixed in. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a quick easy read that has both romance and mystery.

Fun whodunit with unlikely heroes and heroines and a bit of romance. For those that like the living-room detective pairing up with the hot neighbor to catch the neighborhood serial killer? Of course the cops don't believe them, and of course the potential killer knows they are on to him - what to do next! A fun and quick read.

I was sucked in immediately to this fast-paced novel. This novel is perfect for anyone who loves true crime podcasts, amateur sleuths and insta-love romance (the spice in here…amazing). It was both action and romance packed and I really enjoyed it!!

Totally engaging and realistic characters
Holly enjoyed the view of the new guys moving into the building that shares a balcony with hers. One is a guy she used to know but the other one (Luke) has a great aspect. Her roommate is entertained but has a regular boyfriend in Boston. Holly and Luke meet and form a connection while watching suspicious activities of another neighbor at a time when women are going missing. Things heat up in both the romance department and in overt danger as well and the plot thickens. A good read!

The characters made this book so amazing! It was fun, it was suspenseful and it left me feeling like I was losing my friends. Loved it!

I came across this title on Netgalley, and I enjoyed it. A bit spicier than what I normally read, but I did like Holly and Luke’s characters regardless. I always find amateur sleuthing entertaining as well so that was a plus for me.
