Stay Curious and Keep Exploring is a fun guide for 50 exciting experiments geared towards children. Any activities that suggest parental supervision, have that noted at the beginning. Each experiment includes a list of items needed (including safety gear), clear instructions, and some blank lines to take notes. The book is full of illustrations rather than photographs of the projects but I think that fits the colorful style of the book.
The author, Emily Calandrelli, may be best known to children for her Netflix series - Emily’s Wonder Lab. Many of the experiments found in this book are similar to activities featured on the show.
This book would make a great addition to any home or classroom library. The experiments are fun and easy for the whole family and could easily be adapted for classroom use.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books!
Emily Callandrelli is such a wonderful example for young scientists. This book has awesome experiments but is clearly written by a scientist, with sections like “make a hypothesis!” I love how Emily makes science accessible without watering down the science. My kids are super excited to do these experiments and do some of the science behind them. Way to go Emily! I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Exactly the wonderfully fun and educational content I've come to expect from Emily Calandrelli! These experiments are interesting and easy to follow; I particularly appreciated the easy to see ingredient lists that made it simple to browse through for experiments with ingredients you already had on hand. The explanations of science were interesting and at the perfect level for my little scientists, and the mini bios of women in science were the cherry on top!

5 stars
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book.
This book was very colorful and interesting. It’d definitely keep kids interested. Each page was broken up into various sections which is a nice change. Each experiment has hypothesis questions that get kids thinking. Famous women, such as Sally Ride and Madam CJ Walker, are sprinkled throughout the book. Each insert tells a little about what they did.
I like how the chapter titles were broken up into colorful squares and the page numbers were big in each box as well. The notes’ pages that are dispersed throughout the book are neat so kids could scribble down their ideas or whatever they’d like.
I like how the author puts in words, for example payload or taut, throughout the book and gives the meanings as well. The definitions are simple and easy for a kid to understand.
Our kids LOVE Emily's show and I am grateful for this book!
The book groups together different types of experiments such as ones to do around the holidays or egg experiments.
Each experiment is set up to tell you about the experiment, materials needed, instructions and the science behind the experiment. There are sections to make a hypothesis and make notes on the experiment. People to know.
The book includes charts and a glossary in the back. This is a must for science loving kids!
Thank you NetGalley and Emily Calandrelli for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I am a huge fan of Emily Calandrelli - from her show, Emily's Wonder Lab, to her Ada Lace book series, she's been an amazing role model for my daughter, who dreams of being an engineer one day. I was so excited when I first heard about this book and even more excited to receive an ARC. The experiments are fun and easy to do and most items we already had in our home. I highly recommend this for anyone with children who are curious and love to experiment and explore.
