A creepy dark and atmospheric read that I read in one sitting and kept me on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding for most of the book. Twisty, fast paced and atmospheric I loved it

A real great debut novel kept me hooked the whole way through.I really look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

A solid 5 stars in a genre I wouldn’t usually read.
Gangland crime fiction is not my thing but the spiel for this got me intrigued, and I’m glad it did

🤯I loved this from the second I picked it up. It is flippin’ brilliant! I could not put it down. It is so well written - you can feel the tension, the anxiety and the need to walk on eggshells. I can’t even begin to feel what it would be like to be in this situation in real life. The level of control and manipulation and the slow way this is implemented by the husband gets will get your pulse racing.

📕There are limited characters in this book - the whole thing is based around how Emma feels and her experiences and I love it for this. This is not a typical London gangster book, it shows how the unwilling wife along for the ride feels, and her helpless desperation.

⛳️This is a debut by Ali Blood, and I can’t wait to see if he keeps up this standard for his next one!

I can honestly say I didn’t expect this book to be as good as it was but wow I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be reading more by this author, a page turner from beginning to end.. Emma has everything in life she could want but her husband is a bad man and when he goes to prison for 5 years she realises she is stuck with him regardless, a great read ..

Well what a phenomenal debut! I need more!! This has been everything I had hoped for and more.

Emma is married to top dog, dodgy character Tommy. As this begins, Tommy is found guilty and sentenced to five years imprisonment. Only, this doesn’t mean freedom for wife Emma.

Tommy has left Emma a set of rules she needs to live by and follow while he’s inside. He makes it clear that his mother and brother will be the ones keeping an eye on her. If Emma doesn’t follow the rules, her family will get hurt.

My heart has raced as I’ve read this book. Blood has pulled me in and I’ve found this a book which has been completely impossible to put down. I have devoured page after page of this gem in just one sitting.

There are so many complications for Emma in this one- a controlling husband, colourful and uncaring in laws, fear and urgency to protect her own family and she’s haunted by mistakes she has made while Tommy has been inside.

This book has everything I’d hoped it would have. I have been left completely speechless by this one and wish I could experience reading this for the first time all over again.

Blood is going to be an author to watch out for. This is engaging, gripping, addictive and completely unpredictable. An absolute must read and one I will be recommending to everyone.

The writing is terrific, the dialogue is realistic it felt like I was walking around inside this book!
I enjoyed how Emma pulls you right into her story!
This was one of those that kept me up all night turning the pages!
