Description
Gluten intolerance and food allergies are seen through the eyes of a child in Free To Be—Gluten-Free!
Symptoms of celiac disease and gluten intolerance can be troubling and
confusing. Written by a mom who walked this path with herself and her
children, this book is sure to provide guidance, comfort and laughs
to children of all ages.
From illness to wellness, a young boy discovers that his foods are making him ill, but by pushing away a persistent and persnickety gluten monster, he feels amazing! Gluten-free tips and recipes for the whole family are included.
From The Author:
Through the Integrative Assessment Technique, we discovered that my son's rashes and mood swings were all due to gluten (and corn). As our daughter reached age three, we discovered the same. Due to my son's condition, I discovered my own intolerance as well! I wrote this book with my son, about his emotional journey—from a mess of emotions and trips to the bathroom, to being so full of glee that he jumps and runs and is full of life!
About The Author:
Born and raised in New Jersey, Heather Spergel spent her younger years performing on Broadway, in television commercials, and playing the flute in regional bands. With an M.S. in Community Counseling and as a National Certified Counselor, Heather worked in the mental health field for a number of years before joining the family business in property management.
Now a gluten-free, attachment parenting, creative, and busy mom of two children, Heather finds inspiration from both her youth and also from her children. Look for future books about breastfeeding, bereavement, and other out of this world journeys.
About The Illustrator:
Anita Martino wanted to be a ballerina and artist since the age of five. Refusing to wear a tutu, she stuck with art, taking private art lessons from age 12 and attending Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia throughout her high school years. She received her B.F.A. in illustration in 2000 from Rowan University. This is her second published work as a children's book illustrator.
