Description

A modern-day mirroring of a biblical tale, where two cousins face a country riddled with racial tension, teetering on the brink of civil war.

Actor DeShawn Lamar has lived a life of excess, growing more and more like the character he portrays on the small screen. But after an epiphany, he gives up acting along with his wealth to go on a religious journey. He quickly acquires the nickname of the Baptist, cleansing people of their sins and bringing to light the racism that sullies the nation.

Jessica Salome is furious that DeShawn is using her town's fountain to baptise people, decrying blasphemy. She wants him gone, and will do anything to make that happen, even willing to use her daughter's infatuation with DeShawn to get him arrested. But what the law doesn't know is that Jessica has other motives for running him out of town, her past connection to The Pillars, a neo-Nazi group, returning to haunt her.

Joshua Cross never wanted to be in the spotlight like his cousin, but due to his visions, DeShawn's followers see him as the new messiah. He quickly becomes the face of anti-racism rallies, garnering the attention of two opposing groups: The Pillars—who want him dead, and The Syphers—a Black militia who want to work with him. However, when the FBI come knocking, Joshua discovers that he's being used as a pawn in a battle.

One that can only end with a nailing to a proverbial cross.

The author of Joshua's Cross depicts an outsider's view of America, challenging the reader to a debate on racism, along with other forms of discrimination that permeates every society.

A Note From the Publisher

M. A. Plume is a pseudonym. I want to separate myself from my previous writing, starting over again. Although I have a lot of followers on Facebook, Goodreads, Twitter, etc, Joshua's Cross is different. Plus, the writer is a character in the book, their voice, "my" voice, also affecting the story-telling. An outsider looking in.
