Description
Even though Lance is an Executive Director at the firm, his personality does not fit the mold of the stereotypical egomaniac that Katie would expect in that type of position. He keeps her at a distance, but that only sparks her interest more.
With one flamboyant move after another, Katie slowly breaks down Lance’s protective exterior. Even though their personalities are so different, deep down inside both harbor hidden pain and loneliness.
In the fast paced financial services industry, individuals may easily lose themselves. But Katie and Lance finally learn to slow down enough to find and appreciate one another."

Indulgence is a novella about a woman named Katie Jade who goes to work as a personal assistant to Lance Hardy, the executive director at a New York Brokerage Firm. Katie is excited about the new job, and is attracted to her new boss. Though Lance is quiet and broody, he and Katie develop this unlikely friendship.
But when they go off on a business trip, their friendship turns sharply to who a whole new level. A level in which neither of them expected or were prepared for. Is this the end of Katie’s new job? Or her new friendship? Will the two learn how to live with one another or did they develop a schism that neither of them can put back together?

This is the first novella from Caitlyn Black that I have read. I call it a novella because it is only 120 and the story is short as well as fast pace. That doesn’t make it horrible, though. The plot was thought out and developed as well as the characters. There were only a few times that I had to stop and try to recollect what had happened in the story and when.
The one thing I definitely noticed about this story is that it essentially mirrors Fifty Shade of Grey. Again, this is not a bad thing. I think that people who did enjoy that book will enjoy this one as well. This book is definitely better written than Fifty Shades of Grey despite being similar.
Caitlyn Black creates a story that is easy to read and enjoyable at the same time. It is just short enough that one can read it in a sitting without having to take a break. It’s a great book to take on vacation and be able to finish it. Great job to Caitlyn Black.
