Description
It's all fun and games until you accidentally marry a stranger in Greece and inherit a hotel.
Amelia Lang's life is kind of a mess. She's stuck living at home with her narcissistic mother. Her tech bro ex-boyfriend deliberately sabotages her at work, and she gets fired after throwing a mug at his head (it's okay! She missed.) Then she has a major falling out with her best friend. So Amelia does what Amelia does best: She runs away.
After traveling around Europe for three months, she settles on a small Greek island to reset her life and figure out what's next. But after too much retsina, she gets tricked into marrying James, another guest at the hotel, who is perfectly nice—but perfectly boring. To top it off, they are gifted the very hotel they're staying in—a hotel they don't want that is in desperate need of some TLC. They agree to keep the hotel open through the busy summer season for the sake of the island's quirky but well-meaning residents, after which Amelia plans to return home to start rebuilding her disastrous life.
Amelia and James must work together to determine how to get out of their situation—easier said than done for Amelia, who's started to feel a strong spark of attraction for James. But Amelia is sure her real life is waiting for her back in San Francisco. Is it time for Amelia to return home or could this be the second chance at a new life she didn't know she wanted?

"Escapist yet thoughtful, and ripe with humor, Godfrey's second novel is also a reminder to us all that it is far better to run toward your happiness than away from your fears." ― Meredith Schorr, author of As Seen on TV and Someone Just Like You
"Anyone who has ever dared to wonder “what if” will find themselves swooning over this unputdownable novel, and instantly signing up for a summer at the Ria Hotel. Best paired with a glass of wine and some fresh olive oil, I loved every word." ― Becky Chalsen, author of Kismet

A delightful, escapist read! Ever dreamed of owning a resort on a remote island in Greece? Well, it might be less glamorous in practice than it sounds. At least for Amelia Lang, a 32-year-old project manager from California. Amelia is nearing the end of a monthslong adventure in Europe. For her last destination, on her mother’s insistence, she books a visit to Hotel Ria on the (fictional) island of Asteri (the magical and romantic place where her parents visited decades ago).
Amelia soon finds herself charmed by the island and by another guest at the hotel, James, a handsome and slightly dorky American who is very into olive trees. But that was before they end up accidentally married to one another. Oh, and they also now own the Ria hotel (which is in need of many costly repairs and updates). Amelia and James find themselves reluctantly preparing the property for their first and only guests with the help of their generous neighbors who want to see the resort succeed so the whole of Asteri can prosper. They can handle hotel management for a few days and then go their separate ways, right?
This was an intriguing and fun story that definitely made me want to visit Greece (and maybe end up co-owning a resort with stunning views). The push-pull of Amelia’s and James’s relationship and growing friendship/simmering tension between them along with the lovable cast of locals (including the many different men named Yorgos) were the highlights of The Second Chance Hotel for me. We get friendship drama, family drama, romance, and plenty of laughs. An enjoyable read for anyone currently on, planning, or dreaming of a fresh start. 4.5 stars.

What happens when Amelia follows through with her mothers wishes to visit a small island in Greece?
She ends up meeting a gorgeous and nice stranger, gets married to said stranger and ends up with a hotel (in not the best shape). Following Amelia trying to come to terms with her own feelings and dreams, we go through heartbreak and love. And the biggest question of all, what will happen with the newlyweds and their hotel?
I'm so glad I got an arc for this book! It was so sweet and fun, and just the book I needed. This was so well written and easy to follow, I had a hard time putting it down.
This sweet and quirky Rom Com,, Is just what I need to get out of my reading slump. The cheekiness of the MCs and their inner circle is just amazing, This Book made me want to travel so much! This Book had me laughing as you get to know some of the characters. 10/1o you need to read this almost getting forgotten on a greek island book.

The second chance hotel tells the story of Amelia and James.
They both come from the USA and meet in Greece while backpacking through Europe.
When they get tricked into marrying each other whilst drunk one night, things start to develop but Amelia still desires to go back home (or at least she believes that's what's best).
How will it all unfold?
I loved this book. Everything about it spoke to me so loudly that i could not put it down!
Amelia is such a complex character and James was funny and witty.
The tension in this book was great and i liked the story line a lot!
I wish we could have seen more moments of Amelia and James together at the end tho, but everything else I really enjoyed. The only thing I did not enjoy was (someones) character. He was really annoying sometimes, and don't even get me started on the 'all girls like me'.
I really recommend this book if you are looking for a summer quick, funny and interesting read!
The mamma mia vibes this book was giving me were also incredible!
Thank you to Net Galley for giving me the chance to read this book in advance of the release date! It has been an incredible experience and I will most likely read from this author again!
"Amelia sat at the table on the veranda, staring at the sky for a long time. The view was Instagram-worthy perfection, and the warm air should have been relaxing. Unfortunately, accidentally getting married to a stranger and being saddled with a hotel in a foreign country weren't relaxing activities."
This book was an absolute delight! I loved the hilarious banter, the hilarious premise, and the author's descriptions of the setting and food. The main characters, Amelia and James, have a fun relationship and I found myself rooting for them through their many trials.
After a bad break-up and a disastrous day at work, Amelia is left confused and without a clear path in life. She decides to take a trip and ends up spending several months in Europe. Unexpectedly, she also finds herself married to a stranger, James, as well as becoming a co-owner of a local hotel on a small island in Greece. James is equally lost and the two are forced to work together to run a hotel and decide where life will take them next.
Sierra Godfrey wove an enjoyable story involving interesting characters, breathtaking views, and a sprinkling of unexpected romance.
This book was such a fun read! I really liked the author’s writing style and the characters, both mcs where so charismatic and realistic by not leaving their flaws behind, the plot itself was well paced and i was not bored at all, it has humour and romance and heartwarming moments, couldn’t put it down by the end
