In her newest collection of comics, cartoonist Beth Evans is back with the internet’s favorite amorphous blob of encouragement and optimism— and just a hint of social anxiety. Thinking of You follows Evans’s iconic protagonist as they navigate their way through online dating, awkward social interactions, and the occasional panic attack, all while trying to remain kind and patient, both with the world and with themselves. I loved everything about this graphic novel. It definetely is a comforting read , like being wrapped in a warm blanket , or getting the best hug. This book is great for anyone who ever has a bad day. Perfect mental health awareness and understanding how important you really are. I highly recommend "Think of you "
Thinking of You (but not like in a weird creepy way) was such a fun and inspiring quick read! The blobs, while basic, were able to evoke such positivity and joy in me. The author had such encouraging things to say that I felt like she was truly my friend by the end of it. I highly recommend this title! It is a perfect daily reminder that everything will be ok.
Thank you Netgalley, Author Beth Evans and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the arc!
This was so cute and oddly inspiring for a book with pictures of blob people. Each comic or graphic had something important to say but said it in a way that didn't make it seem quite so detrimental. I would highly recommend it.
This was a super wholesome read! This is something I needed to read after feeling depressed the last couple of weeks. There are a lot of positive messages throughout this book. I would recommend this comic collection to anyone that needs a little more positivity in their life. :)
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the arc in exchange of an honest review.
This book was cute and adorable graphic comic. I usually don't read self help books. But as this was a graphic book, i thought to give it a try and loved it absolutely!
Encouraging. Positive. Comforting.
Perfect for anyone who needs a quick reminder that they are not alone and just being themselves is enough.
As someone who doesn't typically gravitate toward self-help literature, I was pleasantly surprised by Beth Evans' collection of comics, which aims to inspire and uplift its readers. This book, "Thinking of You (but not like in a weird creepy way)," delves into the neurodiverse experience with empathy and understanding.
While this collection may not cater to those seeking lighthearted humor, the comics genuinely resonate with their intended audience. Interspersed throughout the book are individual pages featuring motivational text. However, these may have a different impact than the comics themselves.
I am grateful to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an eARC copy of Beth Evans' "Thinking of You (but not like in a weird creepy way)" in exchange for my honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this heartfelt and supportive collection of comics, which was a refreshing departure from traditional self-help books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an arc in exchange for my honest review.
This was cute. It's a collection of wholesome comic pages featuring little blobs to uplift you. While it was cute and heart-warming, I honestly think it would be better suited in a daily format like perhaps a day-by-day calendar. Reading all the pages at once is a bit much.
It could also be cute as a sort of tear-off page book where you could take a page out and maybe put it in a card to give to a friend. I don't know that I would ever give this entire book to a friend...it's a lot. Tends to get repetitive and by the middle of the book, I was lagging.
But taken as bite-sized pieces rather than once huge chunk, it's a nice bit of wholesomeness in a world full of the opposite.
Lovely collection of comics filled with self-love. Perfect to read one or a few pages every day or when you need it most.
For me, this little book really hit close to home. So I absolutely appreciated a lot of the messages and kindness this book is filled with. It's not graphically outstanding, but I didn't mind this because the messages are way more important than the drawings in itself. It's just a friendly, amazing little blob who supports you. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who experiences a lot of stress, anxiety, self-doubt or is just in need of a hug or some friendly words.
A big thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is just a big warm hug.
Thinking of You (but not like in a weird creepy way) by Beth Evans is graphic novel collection of comics that were drawn and written to be a big warm hug and a way for readers to be seen and heard. Evan's main protagonist works through endless comics, dealing with panic attacks, awkward social interactions, and accepting themselves and the world at large.
I love this book, and would gladly recommend it to anyway that just needs a gentle reminder of how much they are loved.
Book Summary:
Thinking of You is a collection of comics by Beth Evans (@bethdrawsthings). She's a great artist with a fantastic sense of humor. More importantly, she works hard to help others see the value in themselves. You don't find that every day.
You'll likely have seen Beth Evans' works online, especially the ones about her Blobs. They're the most popular. This is a collection of many of those moments designed specifically to help others feel seen and valued.
My Review:
Thinking of You is such a sweet and funny comic! Don't believe me? Read the full title and think again. I love this sense of humor. It feels almost...gentle? Like the author is trying to uplift her readers through humor. Oh, wait, that basically is what she's doing! Love it.
Many of the moments in this comic will be super relatable, especially to anyone who needs a bit of affirmation or encouragement. Honestly, there's not a lot to say about Thinking of You – it pretty much speaks for itself! So go read it; you won't regret it.
Highlights:
Humorous
Self-Help Comic
Blobs!
The author has written a collection of comics that is to give the reader the feeling of being seen, uplifted and not alone in their life. She uses an amorphous blob of encouragement and optimism. It’s to help one through awkward situations, online dating and and panic attacks in today’s life. The blob tries to remain calm, patient and kind in the world and ourselves. It may be a difficult but it’s to remind one that they are not alone.
I think it’s a good reminder for one to remember that they are not the only one thinking thy are alone but are not really. Though I must admit that some days I find it difficult to not feel alone when I see how society has not made me feel safe to go out to do the necessary activities of everyday life without wondering if anyone else feels the same as I do. I enjoyed this book with its collection of humorous comics. It is a funny and a little too sweet book for me.
4 stars for a cute and funny collection of comics~
I love Beth Evans comic style. This was a fun and at times humorous collection of little comics that are way too relatable. I think it would be a nice gift for a friend or loved one or even a coffee table pick-me-up kind of book. The collection is more images than words and they really speak for themselves. A gentle reminder that you are doing great and you are not alone. <3
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing a digital ARC for review!
Cute little affirmations for you or for you to share with others. Cute art too. I really enjoyed this and would love a physical copy
Everyone has everyday struggles. You are not alone.
Super cute comics with inspirational messages. My favorite? “…you aren’t the worst ever – you’re just a person with a rude brain.”
Easy way to get you to look at things from an optimistic perspective, realize it’s okay to not be okay and how to just get through the day.
Loved this. Whether you are struggling or succeeding or somewhere in between – this book will give you inspiration.
Thank you #netgalley for a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is such a cute mix of funny, thought provoking, and relatable drawings and words that will definitely call you out. I got this as an ARC from NetGalley and it was a quick comfort read but I honestly plan on buying it too so I can have a deeper read where I have the time to sit with my thoughts a little longer.
🧠Mental health matters! It needs to be talked about more, and we need to remove the stigma around it. With that said, Thinking of You (but not like in a weird creepy way) is amazing. It honestly could benefit ANYONE! For someone struggling with anxiety, depression, self doubt to loneliness, this book is like a warm hug.
I felt like Evans climbed into my head, took a lot of my anxieties, and made cute comics about them. Thinking of you made me feel seen and cared about.
I highly recommend this to anyone going through a tough day, month, year or lifetime. Reading it will add a little light and love to your day, and who couldn’t use that!
Thank you to Beth Evans, Andrews McMeel Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
I really needed to read this book today. I wish these were postcards that I could send my friends to give them a 😮 boost of encouragement.
I will be purchasing this book for my sister in law. She needs to know she's amazing
Thinking of You (but not like in a weird creepy way) by Beth Evans is like reading a comforting hug in a book. I requested to review this book after I discovered Beth on IG. Her cartoons are extremely relatable and reassuring. She promotes acceptance, self-love and caring. I need this book to also be a stack of cards, a daily affirmation calendar, or posters. I highly recommend this book to anyone at any stage of life. We all deserve a hug!
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an advanced digital copy of this book.
Thank you to NetGalley for an e-arc of this collection of comics. My thoughts are my own and not influenced in any way.
this was such a wonderful collection of comics. Beth Evans said that her intention was to make people feel seen and less alone and I, personally, think she did just that. This comic felt so validating and heartfelt that I feel ready to take on anything life throws at me right now. This will definitely be something I revisit at times of despair, loneliness, pain or just a general lack of motivation. The art was not top notch but these blob friends are so cute tbh. This book is basically a collection of these little blobs and some unique, motivating messages that can make your day a little better. I recommend this to everyone who is struggling and needs a little love, support and validation. I loved every second. It was also hilarious at times.
Here's some of my favourites from this:
"I know not everyday is going to be my day but it'd be nice to have like....an hour" 😭
"Stress may occupy a big place in your life but you're so much more than one icky feeling"
"Even if you're moving at a snail's pace, you're still moving. Every step, no matter how small or slow, is cheer-worthy"
I enjoyed this uplifting and encouraging little book! The messages make you feel less alone in how so many of us feel!
Short and sweet, but wholesome. A nice reminder that kindness can go a long way, even with yourself. The perfect little pick me up to read after a long or hard day, or a thoughtful gift for anyone in your life.
This book was absolutely adorable! I’m ready for it to be released so I can buy a physical copy for myself and some friends.
Beth Evans draws little “blob” characters with motivational phrases, but better than typical books like this, the phrases are relatable - not that everything can -land will be perfect, but that even if things aren’t perfect, we should recognize and be proud of what we’re still able to do and how we’re getting through.
The blobbies were cute - maybe some of the pics were repetitive and it would’ve been nice to see more difference between the pages, but I don’t think it took anything away from the read.
I also think this would make a great coloring book!
Considering that I picked this book expecting for a fun comic and it wasn't - it's more on the category of a self help kinda comic - it was still real good.
Just be aware that "Thinking of You(...)" is more phrases with some drawings bout struggle, anxiety, self love...
“No matter what your brain says, I promise it’s lying. You do deserve the good things.”
We all need some kind words every once in a while, and this book can give you just that. This collection is full of small, meaningful, and sometimes cheesy one-page comics that are aimed to be relatable and caring. The author, Beth Evans, makes it clear from the start that her goal is to help people feel seen, loved, and validated through their day-to-day struggles. All the comics consist of a simply drawn blob person who expresses a variety of worries which are then transformed into reassuring words for us. There is some humor, as life shouldn’t be taken seriously all the time, but Evans generally sticks to motivating, encouraging, and offering comfort to her readers.
There were many pages I particularly loved due to how much I related to them as they discussed self-love, thinking habits, big feelings, and acknowledging it’s okay not to be okay. If I’m being honest, this entire book is a glimpse into moments of the human experience. It’s perfect for all ages to enjoy and would make a great gift for someone in need of a little extra love.
My personal rating for this book is 3.5 stars as it was a sweet, quick read but I decided to round it up to 4 stars due to the general enjoyment it provided. I don’t know if I would buy this for myself as it is more of a “when needed” read and not a plot-driven story, but it allowed me to feel engulfed in a hug I didn’t know I needed.
Thank you, NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for allowing me to read this arc.
It was a pleasure providing my honest review.
I love Beth Evan’s’ comics and am thankful to NetGalley and the publisher too for this copy. This collection is just adorable and warms my heart.
The art is super cute and the story is so wholesome. It was less a comic and more like a picture book. Each page was an encouraging message or a personal mantra. I think it is worth getting.
4 stars
Wow, this was just what I needed to read today. And, in fact, I can see that any day would be made warmer and brighter by this adorable, uplifting, kind-hearted, open-handed series of comics and notes about living your best life in a sometimes cold and dark world. There's reminders to be gentle with yourself, counsel for overcoming the daily tasks that can seem so overwhelming, encouragement to keep trying, advice for resting, and just so much hope. I felt lighter and more seen the whole time I was reading it. It has a lovely Instagram feel to it, but collected with great intention into a book with longer written ruminations too. I feel like this is going to become a go-to gift for me to give the people I love most.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to read this book and share an honest review.
Uuuugggghhh, this book was so charming. And adorable. And you should definitely read this if you like things like Hyperbole And A Half orrrrrrr Sarah's Scribbles. This book was full of simple but cute illustrations and positive and validating quotes. Yes 10 out of 10 recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the chance to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sending and allowing me to read this book.
I don't really have much to say about this, it was very cute though.
I received this book through NetGalley and it did not disappoint. It was very comforting and validating in such a humorous way. I felt that it was just in your face enough for me to believe all the words the author wanted to portray. I see myself giving this book to any and all of my friends who need words of encouragement and just extra sprinkles of love when they are struggling.
This is a wonderful book about inspiring oneself and getting to love yourself a little more each day. I had a wonderful time reading this book with its cute illustrations and beautiful message. Inspiring all the way through. I hope anyone who comes along to read it gets the same message I was able to get.
Well, I love when it comes to such collections of confessions and self acceptance notes with cute illustrations. Such books are meant to destress us and it works like charm!
The book is short yet it feels like I just had some quality time spent with someone close to me.
Love it.
Thank you, Andrews McMeel Publishing, for the advance reading copy.

I think this book could be a great table book full of motivational messages about self-love, mental health, and just trying your best every day.
Evans offers up many affirmations that are like getting comfort and encouragement from a friend. It was really nice to read even if it was a bit repetitive. It still works out but mileage might vary since some messages are rather generic.
Overall it's a sweet and uplifting reading experience that makes you feel understood if you are suffering from anxiety.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
Can we please please please get these in a set of tear away card; like you see with a class set of valentines? I'd love to have these in a deck so I can pull one out to share with a friend, or read myself, when needed. This book will be great to have on hand and flip through when you need comfort, love, or validation that you are important and perfect just as you are.
Very cute collection of comics and blurbs. The title is hilarious and the content is relatable. A short and very sweet book about mental health.
I really enjoyed Thinking of Youth (but not like in a weird creepy way) by Beth Evans. I did not know Beth Evan's comics before reading this book. The back cover states that it is meant to bring one peace and comfort - that's exactly what it did to me!
Before I get into the review, a quick thank you to NetGalley and the Publishers over at Andrews McMeel Publishing for giving me access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thinking of You is a comic collection that is equal parts humor and self-care. The collection comes out on May 2nd is available for preorder now.
I’ll try to keep this pretty short since the collection is under 150 pages. There are sections for: Everyday Struggles, Big Old Feelings, Go You, Hard Things and Validation, and Uplifting Messages. I read all of this at once while doing chores around the house which I’m not sure I’d recommend. I think if you’re struggling right now it might be great to pick up this book and read a page or two per day and then set it back down. It gets a little too saccharine if you read it all at once. But I will say that reading something like this a year ago would have had me sobbing on the floor. Last year was a really hard year for me and my family and being given a funny image that is telling me exactly what I need to hear in that moment--it would have made me lose it. I’m in a better place now, but these messages are still good to hear.
I think this collection comes from a place that says, “We’re all human and we’re all trying” which isn’t a very common message in our world and I think it’s what a lot of us need to be reminded of.
I loved this.
The drawings were adorable an still conveyed all the emotions needed evenin their minimalistic style and I felt seen in A LOT of the scenarios.
Beth Evans really makes a point to try and comfort people like she knows exactly what they are going through. She said this herself in many of the pages and it’s something that you can tell throughout her work.
I struggle with reading positive affirmations quite often. They usually make me feel worse more than anything, but that wasn’t the case here. Maybe it was the cute little blobs or my state of mind, but this was a lovely book.
It would make a good coffee table book. Each page is it’s own affirmation, so anytime someone needed one they could open up to a random page for an affirmation. It could also make a cute lil calendar.
Thank you Andrew McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Beth Evans' comics are all about mental health, loving yourself and keeping motivation as you get through more difficult things.
This collection of short, relatable comics would be best enjoyed as a little book you keep around your daily space and flip to a random page every morning as a reminder or boost to start the day.
Reading them all in one sitting is a bit overwhelming.
Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.
This was a very cool discovery! This book feels like a warm hug and it’s perfect for those hard days, when you feel like you won’t go through it. It’s a reminder that you got this, you’re worth loving and you’re wonderful!!
I think it’s better to keep the book somewhere where you can look at it few times a day, rather than reading it entirely in an hour. Otherwise the cartoons might feel a bit repetitive!
Beth Evan's comics always can make me feel better. Her comics are like a giant hug reminding me that everything will be okay.
In this comic each page was its own comic for the most part. Sometimes I wished there was more to what was being said but I think that is the point. The few words help it be for everyone.
This is a book that you buy, take the cartoons out, and hang them up - In front of your work computer, on your walls, put in frames. The cartoons, as cute as can be, are uplifting, sweet, and allow you to feel good.
You are going to have days when you don't feel great about yourself, when you need that extra boost of confidence and self-love. All you have to do is open this book, and it will give you a warm hug.
Buy this book for yourself, for a friend who could use some reassurance, or really anyone.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I'm not usually one for the "it will get better" books but for some reason this one made me smile. Maybe because Beth Evans isn't trying to sell me a cure-all. She's simply saying it's ok to not be ok, we've all been there and some of us are still there, but I get you.
Sometimes life really does suck but somewhere out there is someone who cares, even if you don't know them.
Thanks for the hug Beth, it was just what I needed.
Thanks to @netgalley for the chance to read this eArc in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
This book has been like a hug, there are many phrases that encourage you, at least me, to keep going despite having bad days. 100% recommended for a quiet time.
It's pretty incredible how much emotion these little marshmallow people can display-- right up there with the stick figures of XKCD and [book:What If? Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions|21413662] et al.
Give this to a friend who deserves a private cheerleader. Based on my own experiences, this could be someone dealing with a tough diagnosis, living with a chronic condition, or caring for an ill family member, but there are likely additional types of people who deserve this. :)
eARC from NetGalley. The final product should have perforated pages so you can tear them out for maximum sharing!
Thinking of you (but not like in a weird creepy way) is a charming and uplifting compilation of comics. This would be well-suited for anyone who needs a pick-me-up or words of encouragement. If reading this collection cover-to-cover, the content could be seen as a bit repetitive. However, the wholesome message of the comics shows the importance of being kind to yourself and showing yourself grace. This is a perfect read for anyone who needs a pick-me-up.
This a book with cute comics for when you need a pick me up. The topics are very relatable. It's not a book to read cover to cover but to view a view comics at a time.
This book is an amazing example of positivity. It was so cute and has the ability to remind us all how amazing we are. It’s the perfect book to give to a friend who is going through a rough time. However I don’t feel it’s meant to be read cover to cover but to have on your bedside and read a page or two when you are feeling blue.
A super cute collection of validating comics. From dealing with feelings, setting goals, and dealing with anxiety. These comics were sweet and encouraging, offering optimism and validation. I had fun reading this and it really was a sweet read that encourages you!
*Thanks Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
Please read this book!
It looks as if it was written for me but, honestly, it's simply perfect for everybody. If you ever felt the pressure, the fear of failure, that awful feeling you're "behind" on expectations or if your brain "enjoys" telling you ugly lies, this comic book is for you.
Every page has its short message, so you can read the whole book in one sitting (it's so good I bet you will) or you can pick a random page a day when you need a "paper-friend". In fact the author addresses directly to you through the pages as a supportive friend and it's something I really appreciated. For sure, I'm gonna read again this book anytime I'll need a shoulder to lean on.
This is a wholesome comic collection for those days when your brain is mean and when you can't rationalize your worth. It's filled with messages that you're loved, your emotions are valid, and reminders that you're not alone in your thoughts. Reading it felt like a message from my best friend. My only mild criticism is that a couple of things were repetitive. Outside of that, it was a really nice read :)

Content/Trigger Warnings: Talks/depictions surrounding mental illness
Wow, not me crying by how much I needed to hear so many things in this book, as of late. Honestly, this books is so wholesome and makes me think of several amazing friends in my corner. Typically I don't read many "self-help" books, but I'm a firm believer that some literature comes into our life when we need it the most. Truly, this book feels like a big, warm, mushy hug from your best friend, who's always in your corner loving you, supporting you, and thinking you're a delightful soul. And even if you don't have someone in your corner, I think this little collection is a beautiful reminder of how amazing of a human being you truly are.
Overall, I'm just soft and mushy about this book and even forgot to write this 'overall' section. I really liked this and I cried during a few panels and didn't even know how much I needed to hear some of the things in this book. I think, even if you're not a self-help book kind of person, this book will warm your soul, make you feel seen, and maybe you'll be soft and mushy with me.
Do you need a quick little pick me up for yourself or someone you love?
Thinking of You is the sweetest comic ever! I know I’m awkward and suffer from anxiety. I’m also very compassionate and think of ways to help others as much as I can. This little book right here put the biggest smile on my face. It’s full of encouragement. Thank you @bethdrawsthings for making me feel seen. 🫶
The publication date is 5/1/23 but I have already preordered my copy because I think it’s something I will look at and share often.
Thank you #netgalley and Andrew McMeel Publishing for the eARC of this wonderful book in exchange for my honest review.

This book could not have come at a better time for me. My wife was recently diagnosed with cancer again, and so many of these beautiful comics resonated - and carried messages that felt as if they were made just for me. I have always loved Beth's work, such beautiful comics that carry incredibly important messages and never fail to leave me feeling more positive, and almost like I've had a hug from a loved one. Love, love, love. Can't wait for the next book!
I follow Beth Evans on instagram so this book was a must read. I think it was just as cute as the posts she makes online. My heart feels warm and fuzzy after reading the book and I feel like the book was HUGE hug that I needed.
