Description
Dragged out of Homicide by the Chief of Police (no choice) to work in Administration for a month (no experience), Detective Lieutenant Lucas Cross had to find out why the new Crime Scene Data Analysis Software didn't work (no computer knowledge whatsofreakingever).
Saddled with computer nerds and reporting to the civilian who donated the system, Lucas was rescued from law enforcement purgatory when the Chief gave him a simple case — a homeless guy rolled and killed. But it got him back on the street, even if he did have to take nerd-girl cop along.
Then he met the corpse.
Not so simple.
____________
“Are you saying someone anchored their bottom teeth behind the victim’s neck and bit through the arteries at the top of his heart?”
“No, man." Morty Morgue Attendant gave Lucas an eyeroll. "Humans can’t do that."
Can't they?
____________
Bradley Isaacs' debut novel reveals a monster not cobbled together from decaying body parts, but inserted by nature into the sequences of the human genome.
