Description
Time travel is now legal, and matchmaking agency Kairos lets clients travel through time in search of love.
Ada Blum has always been “an old soul.” She’s convinced that she was born at the wrong time, and after a series of break-ins at her apartment and threatening messages, she’s determined to figure out where she really belongs. She thinks she wants to go to Regency England, meet her Mr. Darcy, and settle down. However, a disastrous date ends with Ada covered in rancid chicken stock and rethinking her plans.
She returns to The Kairos Agency and agrees to try an entirely different era. She travels to 1920s New York where she meets Henry Levison, a small-time hood. After yet another horrible experience, she’s about to give up on the whole matchmaking, time traveling adventure when she bumps into her first love, Samson St. Laurent, a State Senator with whom she had an affair that resulted in a major PR scandal for him and ruined Ada’s life.
Sam is on the run through time, trying to use his knowledge of the future to make a fortune. He says he wants to win Ada back, but she’s not sure that he’s entirely trustworthy. In some ways, she’s drawn to Henry, and when she discovers that he is going to be murdered, she decides to go back and save his life by bringing him to the present day—even if it violates every single Kairos rule.
As Ada jumps back and forth from the present to the past, she’ll have to decide where her heart truly lies and which man she wants in her future.

Time Travel is legal, and they do across-the-years matchmaking !!
Ada has had a hard time of it lately, what with a scandal that seemed to drop all the blame on her, and all the break-ins and creepy messages she has been getting lately. She'd like to find a nice Regency gentleman and emigrate to a different time. She has a nasty encounter there, and goes back to the Kairos Agency to try out another time period.
in the 20's, she meets up with Henry Levison and, after yet another horrid encounter, thinks she might just give it all up. She meets up surprisingly, with her first ( and disastrous) love, and thinks this might just be fated. He, however, is on the run through time, and wants her to come with him.
Adventures, accidents, shootings, excitement, and some smooches ensue. Ada jumps back and forth, with the help of her brother and work bestie, and finds she has to decide which man she wants to be with.
Lots of potential for a series here, I hope the author continues in this world. I would love to see Ada's brother Teddy get a match !
Great pacing in the book, lots of fun to read.
An absolutely fantastic speculative romance. I was hooked from page one! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fresh take on romance.
I completely related to Ada and if only Kairos actually existed... this was perfection! The premise was fresh and new. I could not put it down.
"The Once and Future Fling" by Leigh Heasley is a delightful romantic novel that explores the possibilities of time travel and the complexities of love. The premise of the story is intriguing: a matchmaking agency called Kairos allows clients to travel through time in search of their soulmate. Ada Blum, the protagonist, is a woman who feels out of place in her own time and seeks to find love in a different era.
The author's writing style is engaging and witty, making it easy to get lost in the story. Heasley creates vivid descriptions of the different eras Ada travels to, from Regency England to 1920s New York, which add depth to the story and transport the reader to different times.
The characters are well-developed and relatable, and Ada's struggles with love and trust are universal themes that many readers can identify with. The love triangle between Ada, Henry, and Samson adds an element of suspense and keeps the reader invested in the story until the very end.
Overall, "The Once and Future Fling" is a fun, romantic read that offers a unique take on time travel and matchmaking. It's a book that will leave readers feeling warm and fuzzy inside and pondering the question of whether true love really knows no bounds.
