Lessons for Long Term Investors by Richard Rodman
I enjoyed the book but don’t think it is right for everyone. I think the target audience is people already invest with investment advisor or considering doing that but the book also has important messages for the rest of us who prefer do-it-yourself investing.
The book is “Lessons for Long Term Investors” by Richard Rodman. I found it to be a quick and easy read. The author has his own website at https://richardrodman.com/ where you can learn about him, this book, and his earlier book.
I thought it especially important that a major theme in this book was sticking with your planned asset allocation That applies equally to those who prefer working with an advisor and those who prefer investing on their own. The author has 50 + years as an investment advisor/money manager and has developed a great way of expressing the importance of that.
I would say this as a very good book for those who are either somewhat knowledgeable in investing or working with a financial advisor. The book is not for the beginner who wants to invest without an advisor. He does not discuss except very briefly how to arrive at an asset allocation or other important issues that he clearly thinks are tasks best left to the professionals. I believe that some people will do well on their own and some do better with a financial advisor or money manager.
I liked the book as it reinforced things I had read and I believe are among the most important parts of investor behavior whether you use an advisor or not.
