When Lou meets Maria-Carla, an enigmatic beauty with incredible perfume, it becomes too late to turn back. Lou is forced to assume the mysterious assassin's identity and is swept into a dangerous journey that will change his purpose for good. One thing is for sure – this is the role of his life.

El Flamingo by Nick Davies
Reading a new author can be a delight or a heavy slog and this was definitely delightful!
What I liked:
* Lou Galloway: wannabe actor, hard worker, dedicated to his craft, burned out but still searching for that perfect role
* El Flamingo: well, there were actually two or three of them in that there was the real assassin, the part that Lou created, and then the one that others believed in
* Maria-Carla: mother, wife, beautiful, not all that she appears to be, intriguing, strong, lethal, and focused
* Tommy: Lou’s agent who doesn’t get much time on the page but plays a big part in Lou’s pre-Flamingo life and also has a big role in the outcome of the overall story
* Arturo: a bit of a mystery and perhaps a sidekick but intriguing and a jack of all trades
* The references to Don Quixote throughout the book and how aptly they were applied and worked
* The plot, pacing, setting, writing, and outcome
* That the story drew me in, made me care, feel I was a part of the story, and had me rooting for the best outcome
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about evil, corruption, greed and the loss of innocence that is so often a result
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely
