Description
A Duke, a Rogue, a bold American woman - a trio destined for a battle of passions.
Lady Marleigh, the American daughter of the Earl of Wylde, ordinarily would be considered a dull Bluestocking. But the vivacious lady dances, laughs, and carries on conversations of interest and pleasure. Infatuated by her sensible character and commerce skills, the Duke asks for business advice. His continued attention to her, yet failure to follow that advice, leads to bruised pride and wounded hearts.
Meanwhile, a distant cousin has spread vicious lies of treason against her father. When fearless Marleigh reveals the truth, the cousin slinks off only to appear weeks later at the country estate, professing remorse. Disaster at his textile factory spurs the Duke to finally use Marleigh’s business plan. Although polite, Marleigh keeps an emotional distance from both men while she weighs her true heart’s desire.
Will Marleigh consider beginning anew with the repentant cousin? Can the Duke admit her business acumen is far sharper than his own, accept her views on marriage, and make amends for his past blunders? Will either win the Bluestocking’s heart?

Advance Praise
• This was an absolute dream to read!! I loved it, and it was perfect! Just what my regency romance little heart was waiting for. I adore stories like this. The characters were top-notch, and the storyline was amazing. I can't wait to read the prequel. ~ Lori C
• I loved the direct chemistry between Andrew and Marleigh. Adding to that, the heroine is a stronghold feminist who knows exactly what she wants, and the male lead is absolutely fascinated by her; this book is definitely something to recommend! ~ S. Wöldel
• Enjoyable historical romance with a no-nonsense heroine and a handsome hero with much to learn… Unusual and different. ~ K. Garner

After both his elder brothers died mysteriously, William Barrett returned to England with his daughter to claim the title of Earl of Wylde. Being born a third son he made his fortune in America.
Capable, emancipated and very independent, Marleigh Barrett finds adjusting to English society rather uninteresting. She’s only here to get the family estate up and running. Instead she finds herself dispelling rumours and ducking fortune hunters.
Serving the Crown and the War Office in France, Andrew Crofton returned after the war and inherited the dukedom of Pangbourne. Hiding from the clingy ton mamas at a ball, he observes a young woman bravely fence off an overzealous suitor. Quickly assessing the one detail she missed, he makes sure the cad doesn’t get any ideas.
And thus the unlikely friendship between a very English duke and an outspoken American heiress begins. He’s immediately smitten, but she proves quite immune to his dukish charms. Or is she?
📚 Lots of funny banter, plenty of romance, land management, female empowerment, a misunderstanding, thievery, a kidnapping and a mad dash for Gretna Green. The gentlemen in this book are charming. The lady is maybe a bit much. But all in all it’s an entertaining and interesting book with a lot of side stories. I’m curious to see where they’ll go in the next books.
