Really unique cook book/guide that shares a lot about magic, witchcraft, and food! I really enjoyed the aesthetic and thought this was a fun book.
This book is absolutely stunning! It gives you plenty of knowledge and history that every aspiring kitchen witch needs. The recipes chosen for this book are useful, cost efficient and easy to follow. This will be the perfect holiday gift!
This book is really magical and the illustrations are beautiful. I sipped warm tea and pet my cat the whole time reading. It's a great introduction into traditions and practices of a witchy andmagical kitchen. I've read a lot of witchy related literature and this book does a great job of breaking down witchy concepts so a newcomer could easily understand. The recipes are innovative yet simple enough for folks not too savvy in the kitchen.
"Don't hide your magic -- let it shine for life is short and you are divine."
Incredibly clear and wonderfully done! I’m always a bit lost with my craft and this book feels homely and instructive enough to help me get back on the wagon.
Love this book that I will purchase this to add to my shelf. The explanations, illustrations and spell recipes are just delightful. I'm new to kitchen magic and found this book helpful. Thank you!
ARC netgalley review in app
From the first page to the last it was just a delight to read this book. It has all the basics and then some, the layout is great, giving a reference book for later use, and with recipes for everyone. I would recommend it for all ages, families, kitchen must have!
I really loved this book and will definitley be buying a hard copy (I read it on screen initially). Not only is it a beautiful thing in terms of the illustrations and images, it is also a beautiful text in terms of its intention: to empower and enlighten.
I will definitely be looking at making a kitchen altar and will consider the power of my cooking to share love and comfort on a spiritual as well as practical level.
I'm looking forward to trying out the recipes and plan to make some addition to my kitchen garden. I think that this book came to me at just the right time for me to appreciate it. This would make a lovely gift for any free thinking, spiritually minded cook. I would love to both give and recieve this book.
(I will review this on Amazon when I buy my hard copy in Spetember!)
A delightful book that explains how to bring magic into the kitchen and sprinkle it into your cooking. The book explains various herbs and flowers to grow that can help attract love, for example, and abundance into your life. There are plenty of magical recipes and the book is divided into seasons and follows the Wheel of the Year festivals. If you’re wanting to live more in tune with nature and incorporate its magic into your kitchen then this lovely book is your perfect companion.
This book is adorable! The illustrations are whimsical and just plain fun. For as short of a book as it is, I was surprised at how comprehensive it is. As such, it would be a very useful resource for someone interested in witchy cooking, especially beginners! It covers the usual seasonal aspects of cooking, as well as an illustrated reference about what certain herbs and plants are used for in both a practical and spiritual sense.
If you find yourself being the person that your friends go to for your chamomile tea that somehow always turns out right, this book might be good for you.
Disclaimer: I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. However, I am not being paid for this review.
Preordered a hard copy!! What a great book to add to my kitchen collection. Awesome for those who want to start dabbling
The Kitchen Witch Handbook was a very informative and fun read. The way it is written makes it easy for the reader to become fully immersed. This book does a great job of sharing valuable information, helpful tips, and meanings behind certain holidays. Will be referring to this book in the future.
This book gives specific information on kitchen utensils, herbs, and teas, as well as using the kitchen as an altar and cooking with the intent to infuse magic into your food. This book also discusses kitchen herbs, edible flowers, and everyday fruits and vegetables including spices, and their magical uses. The Wiccan sabbaths and seasonal celebrations accompany the book, I would definitely recommend.
This is a great guide for kitchen witches! Its in depth. I do wish it had more recipes but if you are looking for information this is a great place to start! Its really informative and really wee organized.
Lots of Information
Aurora Kane explains what kitchen magic is and explains that when one adds intention in selecting, preserving, preparing, cooking, and sharing, plus the intentions of one’s
heart and the foods’ innate energies, one will have a most magical recipe for effecting the changes one desire.
She provides a list of kitchen magic tools, their function, and she discusses kitchen goddesses in relation to the responsibilities and powers centered on the kitchen.
This is a great beginner's book for learning the way of a kitchen witch.
I really love this book! It's so beautifully done, and it's very well written. I can't recommend it enough.
I didn't have the best expectations about it when I started it, I was expecting it to be like most of these types of books. In some parts of it that was true, but the overall picture of it is very different.
The dividing into the different parts of the year and guiding through the ingredients most common as well as a few recipes for each part of the year was unique and really good. It helped to get a better picture of how it all connected.
I would recommend this book! and I BADLY want a physical copy so please let this one be available internationally too!
First off, the art in this book is absolutely stunning. Secondly, I love how integrated this book feels with what everyone does naturally while cooking. This book gives you the insight or ability to put more intentions into your cooking/baking. Part 1 of this book includes how to read tea leaves, how to use the moon phases in your kitchen, an overview on herbs and flowers, and what they can do for you. The second part of this book takes you through the Wheel of the Year. Each season has a brief overview of the different sabbats and how you can celebrate them, then it goes over the ingredients that hold more meaning and are in season for that time of year, and lastly it includes recipes for each season. The recipes are my favorite part of this book! I love cookbooks and what's better than getting recipes from fellow witches! This book is a staple for me in the kitchen and I recommend it to all witchy folk!
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Wellfleet Press for this ARC! ♥
this is such a helpful and handy book to have around. I loved it so much I bought the hard copy. Great tips and really easy to follow. .I apparently loved it so much I accidently bought two copies! I sent one as a gift to a friend and we use them together!
I enjoyed this book very much, While I wouldn't personally label myself as a witch, I strongly believe that intentions play a significant role in cooking. "The Kitchen Witch Handbook" not only satisfies my curiosity but also provides me with inspiration for infusing my cooking with magic and intention. As I embark on my culinary adventures with this book, I'm excited to explore the intersection of healing, intention, and delicious flavors.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I originally requested a galley of this book and received it, but life got in the way. I didn't get the time to read it before it came out. So I bought my own physical copy, and I do not regret it one bit! This book is so lovely. It's gorgeous and inviting with a sprinkle of magic. I'll be using it for years to come!
This was a wonderfully modern take on the magical traditions that have been passed down through the years. It's a hands on guide that is filled with recipes, spells, and rituals. It gives a new witch a place to start and opens them up to a whole new world. It shows an experienced witch insight into what they already know but in a new way. Definitely a lovely prelude into the world of a kitchen witch.
I received a free copy of The Kitchen Witch Handbook from Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Wellfleet Press in exchange for an honest review.
As someone who was raised by a kitchen witch and would love to be one someday, I was eager to get into The Kitchen Witch Handbook and see if it was one to add to my shelves. It most definitely is! Following the sabbats and seasons, The Kitchen Witch Handbook moves through the year in herbs and plants, recipes, and rituals. It will most likely become one of my main reference guides for kitchen witching because of its complete and broad knowledge. Anyone looking for the same kind of guide will find a gem in Aurora Kane’s The Kitchen Witch Handbook.
This is one of those ARCs where I had to buy the book because it was just so full of helpful information that I had to have a hard copy on my shelf. To start with, the illustrations are gorgeous. There are charming pictures on just about every single page, and it made reading this book a joy.
It's chock full of useful and easy to understand information. I loved how Kane includes not just the witchy info about the sabbats, fruits, herbs, flowers, and vegetables for each season of the year, but also historical factoids that I can randomly spit out to look extra nerdy. In addition, she adds a range of ways to incorporate kitchen magic into our everyday lives, as well as celebrating the sabbats. Rather than making everything seem esoteric and mysterious, she provides a way to make celebrating each of the solstices and equinoxes attainable and doable amongst our busy lives.
This is one of those books that's great for beginners, and as a plus, it has some amazing sounding recipes that I can't wait to try out!
This was both beautiful and helpful. If you're looking to dip your toe into kitchen witchery, or just looking to expand your practice, you'll find this helpful. This was organized well and easy to read, but could easily be used simply as a reference book if you don't want to read it cover to cover. Highly recommend for all witches!
This is an incredibly whimsical book to add to anyone's kitchen. The book talks about various ingredients, colors, utensils and items to have on hand to bring peace and calmness to your home. It incorporates hospitality, care and emphasizes that the kitchen is the central place for gathering of warmth and love. It also had a section on different goddesses/maidens/witches from various ethnic folktales. (This Greek, Norse and Egyptican mythology) Readers who enjoyed "The Practical Magic series" by Alice Hoffman or "Garlic and the Vampire" by Bree Paulsen will enjoy this cozy book. I plan on ordering hard copies for both myself and friend whose birthday is in October. I also recommend this book for lovers of herbs, gardening, feminist pride and October spooky vibes. The illustrations are also delightful. Readers who also enjoy paging through cookbooks will also enjoy this book.
Such a beautiful and unique book! You can find plenty of information on magic and witchcraft combined with a great collection of recipes. All wrapped up with beautiful illustrations into a stunning aesthetic it’s the perfect book for every kitchen witch.
This is the kitchen witch manual I've been looking for! Full of recipes, correspondences, blessings and ideas for incorporating kitchen magic across the seasons! Tips were practical and useful and the author included a brief history of many of the practices described. I'm so glad I was able to read this ahead of publication and I look forward to buying a hard copy once it's available.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for access to a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
An introduction to kitchen witchcraft and part of the mystical handbook series. The artwork is so good. It had a ton of information you will want to revisit it. Excellent book for beginners.
5 stars
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-copy of this book for review.
I would recommend that anyone buying this book buys the physical book as I don't think an e-book does justice to the beautiful illustrations throughout. This book is packed full of information for the kitchen witch and I can see it as a valuable resource to be used throughout the year. With information about correspondences, herbs, kitchen gardens, spells, moon magic, wheel of the year and seasons it is a great reference that would be especially suitable for the beginner..
I absolutely love kitchen magic so I was excited to receive this book! I have read many books on this topic and really love how the author broke everything down so it was easy to understand for someone who was just beginning their magical journey. I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy to keep in my kitchen and reference as needed!
The Kitchen Witch Handbook by Aurora Kane - 5/5
Cooking, Food & Wine - Religion & Spirituality
Publication: September 5, 2023
I really enjoyed this Handbook. From the assortment of magical traditions, modern perspectives, guidance, and illustrations, it is everyone one would need all wrapped up in one phenomenal book. There are 100 recipes, tips, and tricks to help you in the kitchen and a glossary to explain along the way.
Thank you, NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the eARC.
As a beginner practitioner, I’ve found kitchen witchcraft to be a path that I didn’t feel naturally inclined to yet I was still interested. Every book I’ve read about kitchen witchcraft has been the same, with recipes and rituals that felt unattainable or just didn’t resonate with me.
The Kitchen Witch Handook, with its lovely illustrations and easy to follow contents, provided me with a new perspective on creating magick in the kitchen. It definitely armed me with many new things to try. I highly recommend for beginners and experienced witches alike.

Overall, I highly recommend this book.

"Practicing kitchen magic is a way to blend magic into your everyday life with little effort and great reward,"
I think this quote from early in the book really summarizes what I like so much about the ideas within it. I am not a witch, but my wife is, and I'm the cook in the family and I work in agriculture. Making food for others is my love language, so part of that is understanding how to use it to connect with my wife's beliefs too. So I wanted to read this book for more insight in understanding on how I can incorporate these concepts of magic into my everyday cooking. And it is very little effort for great reward, as promised. Reward in that my wife is happy and fed, while paying honor to her beliefs and well as my own. They refer to it as innate magic in every ingredient, and I love the idea that just using certain things with intention puts more into a dish than when I normally would have cooked it.
I like this book because it was a tool for adding on to and informing my own thoughts and beliefs on food rather than just telling their one point of view. They can live in harmony, and it was nice to learn I was already practicing some of these concepts without knowing it like purchasing local and eating seasonally. I love the part about reading tea leaves, something my great grandmother back in England did. I also appreciate the levels of detail, like general seasonal spells and recipes along with specific ones per holiday.
Plus, the illustrations were stunning, making for a beautiful and enjoyable read.
The first thing that struck me about this book are the graphics. They're super cute and appealing. I absolutely love them. The next thing I really enjoyed was how the book is divided. Part 1 is about kitchen witchery and the parts that make up a kitchen witch. Part 2 is about the Wheel of the Year and how a kitchen witch navigates the seasons. As a kitchen witch myself, I really loved the care put into this book. I loved how there's a breakdown of different herbs and flowers depending the type of garden you'd like to grow i.e. a money garden, one for strength and protection, etc. The Wheel of the Year section is honestly my favorite though. I love the recipes that are shared in each section. Fall is my favorite season so bits about Mabon and Samhain make me really happy. This is such a beautiful book in general. I'd be happy to buy it when it comes out.
This book was so magically fun! I was interested in this book firstly because of the cover, it’s absolutely beautiful and definitely gives off the witchy vibes. All the recipes were so fun and along with them was plenty of context to keep you entertained. I jotted down fun recipes to try and can’t wait to physically add this to my cookbook collection.
I love to cook and adding a little magick into what we eat is wonderful. I was initially drawn in by the cover. It's so lovely. The author shares so much knowledge, along with the history that every kitchen witch, from novice to experienced, needs. I'm excited to try the recipes that the author selected for her book as they are healthy, cost efficient, easy to follow and make. Perfect reference book for my collection.
