Holus Bolus is the latest installment in the series which proved to be an absolute delight from start to finish. As an ardent fan, I can confidently say that this book surpassed its predecessors, capturing my attention with its extended storyline and an array of unforgettable characters.

One of the standout aspects is its expanded length, which allowed for a deeper exploration of the intricate plot and character development. The story unravels at a perfect pace, keeping readers hooked and desperate to uncover the truth alongside our protagonist.

What truly sets it apart is the remarkable cast of characters. From the enigmatic and tormented protagonist to the eclectic group of outcasts he joins forces with, each character is crafted with utmost care and complexity. Their interactions are nothing short of captivating, with dialogues that are sharp, witty, and brimming with intrigue. I found myself engrossed in their banter and despite the gripping mystery and intense moments, the book also surprises readers with moments of levity. The author skillfully incorporates humor into the narrative, providing well-timed comedic relief that had me genuinely laughing out loud. This blend of humor amidst the suspenseful plot added a refreshing dynamic and further showcased the author's versatility.

In conclusion, this was a great addition to the series, earning its place as my personal favorite.

Another weird trip to the Eighth Block Tower!

I’m really glad we got a longer tale in this series, theres several fleshed out characters and it’s nice and chunky, adding to the Pauley universe. I always enjoy the references to previous stories and there’s plenty of that in here, but it’s more than that, it feels like HOLUS BOLUS is building on those older tales in a way that refreshes them as well.

I feel like this novel is an important piece to the authors wider scope of storytelling. It sits up there with HEARERS OF THE CONSTANT HUM, and the DOOM MAGNETIC! TRILOGY. I finished this wanting to catch up on the authors stories I’ve missed, as well as return to those books. Im excited to see where things go from here!

One of the things I liked more about this book is the characters, and the whole development of them, the plot was weird but good, for me a perfect book is one I CANT stop reading and this book did it for me. The perfect pace and the way the autor take us in the plot was nice and steady. Something I really enjoy are the dialogue between characters I think they make this book very enjoyable

This review is for the audio version of Holus Bolus. William Pauley III and Connor Brannigan are a match made in heaven…. Or maybe hell? Pauley has some of the most imaginative writing I have ever seen and the way it's brought to life by Brannigan is pure perfection.

This is book six in the Bedlam Bible series. This is a series that I am really enjoying. It's all over the place in the best of ways and that continues with book six. The story centers around a character whose memory is wiped every day and he wakes up next to a dead body convinced he is the killer.

This story is not long but it is longer than the other entries into the series. This is not my favorite in the series, but this one shows how strong Pauley’s writing is by taking his time and flushing out all the characters. Finishing this book left me wanting to return to book one and start over. If you haven’t checked out this series what are you waiting for?

I really enjoyed this book! The story progressed at a good pace and kept me interested the whole time. The narrator for the audio book did a fantastic job! I will definitely be reading more books by this author in the future. 10/10 Highly recommend!!

William Pauley lll has done it again! I can’t imagine anyone else narrating his books outside of Connor Brannigan, who may be the best book narrator I’ve ever heard! His range of voices and accents is astonishing and he nails everything! This story is part of the Bedlam Bible series and was so creepily fantastical, I just can’t get enough! I loved the game show aspect and how all the residents were tested in this book about their pasts. I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves horror, but start at the beginning so you get the full spectrum of this amazing story!

Thoroughly enjoyed my time listening to the audiobook. The narrator's voice is distinctive from the other characters, leaving me, as a reader, some what immersed in the whole story plot. I appreciate the story line being told in a way that I can be within the narrator's monologue, trying to understand everything despite the whole no-sleep situation.

Reader, this book is weird. Just prepare yourself. It’s good, really good, but weird. You get some unusual characters in an outrageous situation and you can’t help but be invested in the outcome. A very cool and satisfying ending is the reward for taking a chance on an unusual book. Give it a try! You’ll either love it or give up 30 pages in!

What a strange and unusual book. I really enjoyed it. The audio was phenomenal. I always love a narrator who can change their voice to fit the characters.
The characters were strong and awesome. I really loved the beginning and premise of the book. The game show transition did throw me off a bit but still found it enjoyable.

Pauley is a master of gore, there were so many gross parts to this, that just made my skin crawl. If you love horror and gore this is a series for you.

This is my second read of this author and I am obsessed! Although this book is part six of a series, it is easily a stand-alone although I’m extremely intrigued now and will be scrambling to find a way to listen to the other 5 in the series. This narrator was phenomenal! So many unique and bizarre characters. It’s outrageous and witty and dark. I loved it!

Unique, captivating and so fun!

Our main character of the story woke up not remembering anything with a dead body in the room and he’s sure he committed the murder. He’s soon realizing that because of his rare brain condition his memory resets every time he falls asleep. Will he be able to find out what happened to the man? Find out in this absolutely captivating and brilliant story!

I had the most amazing time listening the audiobook, as always the narration is incredible, I laughed out loud so much, it was fun, weird and addicting.

I love William Pauley III books so much, The Bedlam Bible series is honestly amazing I think this is my favorite in the series!

I highly recommend reading this book to anyone who wants an amazing read, even if you haven’t read the previous books in this series give this a try! I’m sure you’ll love it.

The book begins with our main character waking with no memory, a melted corpse, and a mysterious book - I don't know about you but I'm hooked. His memory resets every time he sleeps so he has no idea what has happened. A voice in his head tells him he's not guilty, and so we embark on an investigative journey to find out whodunnit. This book is wild - it gets weirder and weirder with almost every page. The narrator does a good job keeping me engaged and voicing our cast of characters with easily distinguishable voices. My only gripe with the audiobook is there was a very long pause between chapters, to the point that I had to check it was still playing. The plot is weird and wonderful, but also full of trauma for all our characters (and some torture) so I'd recommend checking individual trigger warnings if this sounds like it could be too much for you. I found the ending tied up the mystery in a neat little bow, but was almost too easy - our protagonist didn't really _do_ that much, and I would've preferred more action. He also stayed awake for a few days in order to prevent resetting his memory, and I feel like this could've been utilised more in the narrative, rather than being mentioned repeatedly. He seemed more of an observer for the most part of the book and didn't really find out the answers on his own. I did like the pace of the book, and all the characters were unique, all harbouring secrets to add to our mystery. I enjoyed the book for the most part, even if I was surprised in the direction it went, I would've just preferred our protagonist did more to get to the answers.

Another excellent entry into the Bedlam Bible series.

There’s been a murder. Well maybe. Well, ok, definitely a murder. But dude didn’t do it. Ok, maybe he didn’t do it. Probably. If he could remember about the previous day he could figure out what really happened. Probably. Well, maybe.

Narrator Connor Brannigan and William Pauley III are killing it with this series. Peas and carrots these two. I can’t imagine anyone else writing or voicing the hum of the tower. So good.

Well, with each book we are learning a bit more about Tower 8 and the residents of the tower. I liked the cast of characters in this book, they were all unique and interesting. I also liked learning about the origin of the Bedlam Bible. Looking forward to book #7, Twelve Residents Dreaming, when it is released.

I love Connor Brannigan's voice and I look forward to finding more audiobooks read by Connor in the future.

Poor Mungden is really put through the wringer yet again, poor guy can’t catch a break! I know I said in my last review it doesn’t matter too much if you listen to The Bedlam Bible series in order but I’ve changed my mind, I really think it would be helpful and give a chronology/ common thread.

In this chapter Mungden awakes in a room next to a man dissolved with acid, who did this? At this point he’s no idea how he got there or who he is. Mungden decides he must solve this mans murder, even if the culprit turns out to be himself. Guided by a voice in his head Mungen proceed to investigate matters in the 8th block tower using only a copy of the Bedlam Bible for guidance.

Another excellent, absurd and doom filled tale from William Pauley III. He has such a way of making these wild tales both comical and horrifying. The mood is psychedelic, dystopian gore.

Connor is the perfect narrator for the job as always.

Let me start this by saying the premise of this book is definitely unique and unlike anything I've ever read before.
Our main character wakes up and thinks he's a killer. He has a rare brain condition that causes his memory to literally reset everyday. He also hears a voice in his head.

What I enjoyed the MOST out of this book was the cast of truly unique and interesting characters. It's not often you can say that the side characters are just as interesting as the main character. But that was definitely the case here! The character development was absolutely brilliant.

The pace of the book was great and easily kept me engaged as well.

Overall, a GREAT read.

Thank God my life is not like the lives of Willam Pauley III’s characters in his books. How does he do it? How does his brain think this way? Do these ideas just fall out of his brain onto the paper? However it’s done the reader is better for it. The protagonist thinks he’s murdered somebody. He wakes up to see a body with its flesh dripping off the skeleton. Ok I need to throw up now. The book takes you into the lives of a rag tag group that end up fighting for their lives on a talk show where everyone seems doomed including the audience. There is a great ending in this book too. Go read it!

First of all, what a cover! The story starts with a man waking up in an unfamiliar room with a body next to him. He has no recollection of how he got there, what happened and who is he, as he forget everything when he falls asleep. A set up for a great story. The side characters are just as interesting as the protagonist. The book is fast-paced and every atmospheric. Definitely one you can binge in one sitting. I’d recommend for fans of horror stories and thrillers.
I listened to this in audio which I highly recommend as the narrator did a great job, especially with the last few chapters. I was into it!

I did not realize that this was part of a series. That being said, I’m not sure if I missed anything or not, but it doesn’t feel like it.

Now, I loved the narrator, and I am picky with narrators, so I feel like that’s pretty high praise. The story had me hooked right away, and I listened in a single sitting. I’m left with a WTF kind of feeling, but that good kind, lol.

I’m off to find more of this series to see if I’ve missed out on anything, and to enjoy more of this weird awesome horror that I’ve just encountered.

I approached Holus Bolus with a fresh perspective as this was my first intro to the Bedlum Bible series with its sixth installment. Given I didn’t have any other background, I was still able to grasp the context and stay engaged with the story.

The protagonist wakes up with a melting dead body in the room and is convinced he has committed murder. Only he can’t remember due to a memory loss condition that resets his memory every time he sleeps. He has a relentless inner voice and a strange book found with the body guiding him to uncover the truth.

With a cast of suspicious characters, the premise has a tantalizing mix of secrets, danger, and uncertain alliances. More background and context about the tower may have enhanced my understanding but I found the storyline interesting, unique, and delightfully weird. The secondary characters were well developed and I enjoyed them just as much as the main character.

Overall I enjoyed this and suspect that fans of the Bedlum Bible series would count this among their favorites. The audio version is very well done and would recommend this format!

I jumped into this book not knowing there were several others in this world. This story, specifically, was so unique and truly original in comparison to so much other stuff I’ve read lately, especially in the creepy genre :)

I went into this expecting an unreliable narrator, but I loved the level of absurdity that the whole game show vibe presented. I’m definitely going to be reading more of this in my near future.

William Pauley III is one of most interesting writers I've ever discovered and I've fallen in love with everything he's done. Connor Brannigan is the perfect narrator. His voice suits Pauley's writing so well.

Going by the title of the book I was a little hesitant but it turned out to be very interesting and intriguing. The main character wakes up without knowing how he got there and next to a dead body. He is suspected of the man's murder who is known by the name of sensei. Now he also has a condition where he forgets everything and a tattoo saying he did a bad thing.

To know the full story and to investigate the murder of Sensei he joins the members of a group headed by Sensei aimed for their spiritual journey. Each member loved him deeply and wanted to find the murderer but each person also has a v deep secret to hide.

I think more than anything or any book I found myself inclining towards this one to know more and more, uncover secrets and solve the puzzle. Overall a weird yet keeps you guessing Sci fi story, only that's how I can describe the ending.

I love the short story from the bedlum Bible and Holus Bolus is now my favorite when a man wakes up and finds a dead guy who looks as if he has been melted with a book in the middle of all that gore he really doesn’t know what happened he doesn’t even know who he is and when he hears a voice and realizes it is talking to him he learns his name but not much more. He’s instructed to take the book out of the gore which is the bedlam Bible he wants to call the police but the disembodied voice tells him not to and so they negotiate and he says he will wait three days because that’s as long as he could stay up and if he falls asleep he will forget everything he’s learned since waking up. This takes him on the strangests murder/death investigation I have ever read he meets a cult that seems to have lost their leader sensei, gets kidnapped or becomes a captive depending on who you’re talking to, does drugs and many more strange events and of course it all happens in the tower an apartment building I would never want to live in but would definitely love to visit. This is one wacky crazy horror story that I absolutely loved! I have read every short story from the bedlam Bible and this is my favorite by far William Paule three has such a visit and bass imagination and it makes the stories unique is definitely one-of-a-kind and it is a book I highly recommend if you love horror wacky stories and just things that or just a little bit different then you’ll definitely love this book I certainly did! As always the narrator did a stellar job he is so good and I love his voice. Holus Bolus leads down a dark and tense journey that can only be compared to an episode of black mirror in the intensity and whirl wind it sends your mind through. I was deeply intrigued with every minute of this story.
A man wakes up in a room with a decayed corpse on the bed, he doesn't know who he is, how he got there, or what is going on. He immediately things to call the cops and turn himself in, but a voice that he can hear only in his mind and isn't his own tells him not to and that he isn't the guilty person. The voice convinces him to try and solve the crime himself and to read the book the body is holding for more information. The book then leads him to a group of people in a secret club. None of these people are what someone would expect, none of them plain in any way, and all of them decide to kidnap the lost man when they realize he smells like their leader (the dead man back in the room). the book goes on a wild and tense journey from here to a place I never saw coming involving the most severe kind of game show that literally is life or death.

Holus Bolus is a surreal, wild story packed with bizarre characters and situations -- like if Chuck Palahniuk novelized Memento in his version of a Metropolis world (Lang, not Lane!).

A man wakes up with no memory in a room with a melted, unrecognizable body and a book. A voice in his head assures him that he's not the murderer and shouldn't go to the police, so he takes the book and flees.

He finds the book to be some sort of bizarre manifesto, and it leads him to a group of eccentric people who have been following the book and it's author, whom they called Sensei and is apparently the body.

The man and the group attempt to investigate through various angles while not trusting each other, leading to several surreal and comical encounters and mishaps. All the while they are competing with a mysterious broadcast tower and mind altering substances, both of which the Sensei's support system seemed to help them manage.

All of this culminates in a freakish "This Is Your Life" judgement game show.

This is a very original and eye-opening perspective and a quick, entertaining read (or listen).

Connor Brannigan as narrator Is always a great choice for this series

This story is the longest in the series by far, about twice as long as any of the previous stories actually. I feel that with it being longer, you were able to get to really know all the characters better than if it was the normal length.

This is also my new favorite book in the Bedlam Bible Series.

Highlights: Dystopian, murder mystery, thriller
Favorite Character: Mauden
Favorite Scene: The game show scene at the end was my favorite. Answered a lot of my questions and gave the book an interesting twist.
Overall thoughts: This is the first audio book I have listened to. The narrator did a great job differentiating between characters with different voices. I don’t think I was able to absorb the story as much as I would have had I read it myself but that is my issue.
Star Rating: 4 out of 5
Why: I gave the book a 4 out of 5 because I enjoyed the story and I think the narration was very good. I am definitely going to “reread” the book to get the full experience.

I listened to this audiobook first. It was quite jarring and disjointed. After reading another in the Bedlam Bible series, I now understand it more and think it's quite enjoyable. A little more of a serious tone than the other book in the series that I have read, but still enjoyable. The characters are insane.....some literally, and the memory issues of the protagonist often leave us wondering what is happening.

Soo at first I was a little bit iffy about this one but.. just stick with it! The concept is not like anything I’ve read before!

This has to be my most favourite story of the bedlam bible series so far, I’m a bit gutted I haven’t managed to read them in order but still enjoying it. Each time I thought I solved the clue to who murdered Sensei, I kept getting proved wrong and I wasn’t expecting the twist at the end!

Ohh! I really liked how the author wrote all the books in the BB series using mix of genres; they are all in the horror genre but with mix of others. This makes this series is very interesting.
This book done as a mystery triller. The main character waked up in a room with a dead body , doesn’t remember anything, just has a tattoo on his hand that he did bad things, so he thinks he is a murderer and starts his own investigation. Classic!
Then he meet the group of other outcasts as he, who knows the dead guy. They do investigation together. The guy suspects everyone of them, they suspect him. Classic again!
But was really surprised to which direction the plot went.
Also really liked character development in this book, as well the side characters.
I enjoyed this book as the rest of the series. Very entertaining series.

I love this series so much. Super creepy and super fun. This is book 6 and I have been reading them out of order without being too confused. Once again spending my time thinking "what the fuck" but in all the best ways. I can't stress enough how much I love these books.

A story with equally weird, wild and creative characters.

The plot in this story is pure genius and so interesting.

The narrator really did an incredible job telling this story.

Again. Took me by surprise and I ate it up. Such a strange mind you have William but please don’t ever stop.

Through this book, we start with a scene where the main character wakes up with a corpse in front of him with a Voice in his head. Throughout the book, we meet 6 other characters who all have issues of their own and where more like followers of a guy called Sensi who follows the rules in the bedlam bible and meets every week.

This story was addictive from beginning to end and I binged the audiobook in one sitting, the voice of the narrator Conner Brannigan was great at doing all the characters with slight differences in each voice, which made me love the audiobook even more + his voice is very nice to listen to and calming.

This is the first book by William Pauley Jr for me and I do enjoy his writing style as well as his storytelling, I plan to read the rest of this series of books.

I cannot talk too much about this book or I will give the story completely away, but trust me this is worth the read.

I enjoyed this book. It’s funny how it was able to stick with me. I started reading this book Back in Oct, got away from reading for quite some time yet I still had this book with me when I picked it back up to finish it.

I just need to read the names William Pauley III and Connor Brannigan and I know that I am in for a really good ride, I probably already listened (yes I say listen, because that's another really worth ride and I will explain it further in a little bit) to all or pretty much almost all of the bedlam bible and I cant recommend it enough. The stories are always original, weird, funny and disturbing and all of that at the same time, haha I know I really can’t get enough of it.

In this particular book, we have a weird character that every time he awakes he doesn’t remember a thing of what he did before, and he has a tattoo that says he did something bad before, that brought me back to pimento from Brooklyn nine-nine in that episode that he had the finding dory disease, but that's where the similarities end hahah.

The Gem of this all is the person reading this audiobook, Connor Brannigan, he makes this already very amusing story even better, he is a truly one man band, he does all the voices and brings the story alive out of paper, I really cant recommend this author and Voice actor enough!

First of all- THE SALT PILES?!?! I was screaming in my car. I genuinely feel like I need to get a cork board and some string to make sense of all the connections between Pauley’s stories. We start off Holus Bolus meeting Mondin, who wakes up next to a dead body and the bedlam bible. He has a condition that resets his memory when he sleeps, but lucky for him he has a voice in his head that is telling him he is not the murderer. We meet a group of tower residents who have formed their own religion(or cult, depending on who you ask) and all have secrets from their past they are hiding. You might want to grab some tower flower to help you get through this investigation because this story keeps you guessing until the very end.

This was such an increasing read. I was pleasantly surprised how much I ended up enjoying this book. I went in to it blind but I am glad I did.

William Pauley has written down such a solid piece of work here. I am just awed by how incredibly deep this story is. The eighth block tower is written more like a character than a place. The world building is in the tower itself. The tower is a creature and it drives other creatures to madness, pursuits, murders, irrationality and even spirituality.
The story starts off with our main character waking up amnesiac. Not remembering the reason for tattoos on his arms or the corpse lying in his room, or the book in the dissolved flesh of the corpse, be runs out of the apartment and is taken hostage by a group of people whose mentor's was the corpse in the man's room. So basically, this book follows these people trying to find who killed their mentor, sensei. This sensei was a spiritual person and was trying some real big stuff with his disciples.
The thing with this eighth block tower is that it is crazy It is paranormal. It's an animal and it's horrifying. There are these rivers or streams of immaterial substance that binds the residents to the an unseen core of the tower. It is a living creature and people are irrevocably bound to it and and it insidiously draws them in. It binds them in a sweet bewitchment where their soul is emptied and mind is switched off. Sensei wanted to break free of this curse, to stop slumbering to the radiating hummings of the tower, to wake up and overcome the power of this tower. And he makes a huge plan. The ending turned out to be a lot like the Jigsaw film and it was cool ngl.

The concept of this tower having a giant brain is so awfully cool and deliciously disturbing to me. So the thing with this this book is that William Pauley doesn't treat it like a spooky children's story. It has those Stephen King vibes creeping onto it where there is a depth to things, a message, an emotional nuance. The tower is the fear of residents, they live to it, they die to it and it's an evil entity for me, people can't live outside of it even if they do find out a way to get out.

The story was over all well written with a little blandness at times but managed well still. Just like the other stories the ending was everything here. The eeriness brought to the highest crescendo at times, with a transcendental tint at others. I especially found the concept of The Beyond very intriguing.

So here's the thing, William Pauley KNOWS how to bind the reader by putting in his story the most bizarre things and then making it more impactful by keeping some things unexplained. Things like the voice in the head, the purple television, the bedlam bible stuff. While I do agree that things can become more interesting and concrete if there is given more time to world building and overall descriptions aside from the characters and actions, I also think it comes with its own uniqueness of flavors. At least it's true for me.

Having mentioned everything, I also want to talk about his gore scenes. I have always found body horror fun to read. And yes I do admonish myself for my sadistic wants but that's just how it is, I love gore and this book satisfies much of my fantasies. Not that I enjoy the painful moments but I like to be haunted by a book.

So yeah, an amazing ride, always recommended. Perfect fast read for spook lovers.

Out of this series, this one is my favorite. I it was definitely crazy and kooky but I kind of love that about it. The story was easier to follow after reading a few of the other books and understanding the unreliability of the setting. It's a new age horror story with a bit of suspense too.

Was intrigued from the get go and listened to the audiobook in two sittings because I wanted to know what happened. I didn't realise until after that this was part 6 of a series, I'm definitely going to seek out the rest of the stories. It was a fun and interesting read. The audiobook narrator also did an amazing job with giving the characters distinct voices, it was very engaging and enjoyable. Had a similar vibe to Chuck Palahniuk and the movie Memento.

Holus Bolus by William Pauley III is my favorite book in the Bedlam Bible series... well, I think I say that after I read each book in the series. Seems I love them all! The characters are freaking brilliant! Brilliant! Comical and delightfully strange, Holus Bolus is both brilliantly written and organically crafted. The narrator does impeccable character work and the cover is one of my favorites.

I love a little bit of weird and this addition to the series paid off! The protagonist wakes up next to a dead body, he has no memory but it looks like he’s the killer!

The residents of this domicile should have picked another place to live. There’s a game where one wrong move & you could be dead.

Read this for fun & if you don’t mind body horror. Good narration.

Another Bedlam Bible and it was good too.

Audiobook is just perfect, narration of Connor Brannigan spot on as always. I hope he does lot many narrations in the future apart from Bedlam Bible too. His voice sounds so good to stop listening to his audiobook.

A man wakes up with no memory whatsoever, and a dead body nearby and a voice talking to him in his head. And that's where starts the journey of Holus Bolus. Although 6th book of this 8th apartment stories, you can read it as stand-alone.

William Pauley III has done it again, bringing us back into the insane landscape that is the Eighth Block Tower. This was longer than previous instalments, but remained fast-paced and thrilling, constantly keeping you on your toes and desperate to read more. Whilst not my favourite story within the Bedlam Bible, it was imaginative, creepy, and horror at its finest. Connor Brannigan’s narration and his undeniable talent made it all the more enjoyable.

Well well, this was a wild weird ride. Dunno what to think about it. I do like the conversations about right and wrong and the grey in-between along with some of the other "bigger" conversations the book was having.

It did a good job of making everything feel a little crazy and it kept me interested in figuring out what the hell was going on. It was weird and probably wont be for everyone but the more I think about it, the more I think I liked it.
