Description
Mortus begins as David Cray suffers a terrible trauma in the loss of his beloved mother, his only relative – or so he thought. At the funeral, he meets an unknown uncle who shares some shocking news: Dave’s father did not abandon his family as he was told. In fact, his father was not from Earth. His uncle convinces him to travel to his father’s planet, Faenum, to help with a dire threat. Having no one left on Earth, Dave agrees and begins a life journey that starts as quest to the dark fortress of Mortus.
Along the way, Dave gathers a group of friends who could not be more different from each other but who share each other’s trials, tribulations and hopes. Dave goes through culture shock adjusting to his new world, yet begins to transform as his buried powerful and magical heritage from his father develops. Dave comes to Faenum unprepared in virtually every way. He is constantly surprised by what he encounters, feels overwhelmed by the events and people in his new world, yet performs miraculous acts he can’t explain.
As he becomes the de facto leader of the quest, Dave leads his followers into a trap and galling captivity. Though they escape from Mortus, they find themselves unalterably changed.
