Twelve-year-old Nora’s mom manages The Knight, a medieval theme restaurant on the verge of shutting down for good. When Nora and her new friend Mavis stop by The Knight to borrow costumes for their school play, a snowstorm hits. Nora and Mavis are trapped overnight with Diane, the restaurant’s eccentric cook. Nora is familiar with Diane’s many tall tales, so she doesn't pay much attention to her strange theory about hidden gold. But when they find evidence that Diane might be telling the truth, Nora starts to wonder if treasure really is hidden in the crumbling castle—and if it could save the restaurant.

Nora’s favourite place The Knight is about to be shut down, as she and her new best friend Mavis go to get costumes for the school play a snowstorm rushes in and they are stuck within the building. The two go exploring all night round the building and find tunnels and godly that may provide a way of saving The Knight.
What an exciting story I loved that Nora’s mind had The Knight as this really magical and wondrous place and then being their whilst it was shut down, with no characters and things being broken, she sees it in a different light. She was desperate for Mavis to love it and see it as she did so she’d want to help save it.
I really loved the adventure the two girls go on together both struggling with issues within their families and how to overcome them. Plus Nora dealing with Britta no longer being her friend and Mavis having just moved from New York. They helped each other through the adventure to come to terms with everything in their own lives and found comfort in each other.
Another incredible story told in verse, which honestly I just adore it’s such a fun way to read a story, it flows so easily and it’s always so much fun to read them this way. This story was really fun, it had great protagonists, a great storyline, fun exploring and discovering new things.
A fun story with a surprise ending. Has realistic character with relatable themes throughout for children.
Thank you to NetGalley, Rosen Publishing Group, West 44 Books, and Max Howard for the opportunity to read Nora Wright and the Secrets of the Knight in exchange for an honest review.
This is a hi-lo novel-in-verse for a middle grade audience following Nora, who loves The Knight, her favorite entertainment restaurant and the place her mother works.
Nora meets Mavis through their theater group at school and suggests they take some props and costumes from The Knight for their play. When they get snowed in by a storm, they find themselves exploring The Knight and finding something that could be related to what was a suspected tall-tale of The Knight's past.
The Knight is on the verge of being torn down to make way for more land to be used by the local country club. During Nora and Mavis's adventure, they find themselves through a hidden passage and in the midst of the country club and their blueprints for the expansion. Luckily, they notice something that might just cause legal issues for demolishing The Knight!
This novel is fast-paced and fun. Following Nora as she continues to discover the secrets of her favorite place makes the reader excited right along with her. What they find that can save The Knight is related to the environment (though I don't want to spoil it), which adds that environmentalism aspect to this novel. A wholistically fun read for a middle grade audience.
