Description

After 18 months of following one-size-fits-all advice for a 57-year-old widow, Linda Crill was still miserable. In a moment of rebellion, she traded her corporate suits for motorcycle leathers and committed herself to a 2,500-mile road trip down America’s Pacific Northwest coast riding a motorcycle. The problem—she did not know how to ride and had only 30 days to learn.

From Vancouver, Canada, to the wine country of California, this out-of-character choice became a catalyst for discovering answers to “What Now?” By heading into the unknown—the blind curve—she faced her fears, tested old beliefs, and discovered not only a broader horizon of possibilities to use in building the next phase of her life but also the fuel to make it happen.

Funny, irreverent, and extraordinarily honest, it is the perfect read for people looking for ways to reinvent themselves, and anyone asking: “What now?”

Blind Curves Lead to Provacative Insights April 11, 2013By Carolyn SeveroFormat:PaperbackI stayed up half the night to read half of "Blind Curves." Before I started, I wondered how it could take so many pages to describe a middle-aged woman riding a motorcycle down the Pacific Northwest Coast? But there is so much more to the book than that. Linda Crill, candidly and self-deprecatingly, shares her fears, self-doubts, false starts, and failures. And, if you know Linda, you can appreciate that her story is in her own voice. In more than one scene, Linda writes that she "bit her lower lip." That visual made me smile, because I have frequently seen Linda biting her lower lip. This is a minor and inconsequential observation, but it contributes to the realistic way that Linda represents herself. I would caution that this book is not for the young or inexperienced. Rather, it is intended for those who had enough life experiences to appreciate and relate to Linda's challenges, achievements, and provocative insights.

A very well written and engaging story April 11, 2013By Paula J AdkinsFormat:PaperbackI've been an avid reader my entire life. As such, I am definitely a book snob and was prepared to read a chapter or two before setting Blind Curves aside to collect dust. I'm happy to report that I read this book from cover to cover - Linda's writing style rocks! Not only does the language flow, she doesn't beat the reader over the head with advice, she doesn't assume that we don't get it and over explain - she simply takes us along to share her adventure. And what an adventure it was! Whether you're looking to answer the question, 'What now?' or you enjoy stories about bikers or you applaud those who don't believe in age/gender boundaries, you'll love this story!

Blind Curves March 28, 2013By PatFormat:PaperbackBlind Curves is a true story observed through Linda Crill's passage through a courageous, painful journey to evolve past her health issues and the loss of the love of her life. Her life was very much like a motorcycle ride swerving from side to side seeking it's own gyroscope of stability and peace. Through her examples of courageousness, perseverance and raw feminine guts, she brings to consciousness what every woman wants but may only know at a more subconscious level. A book that most women can relate to and draw strength and courage to follow their own true path without as much fear of making mistakes. One of the real thrills was reading her dialogue with herself and knowing that these were indeed her true feelings. How often do we realize that???? A treasure of a book that demands a respectable place in your library.
