Description

A sweet, spicy romp brought to you by the author of Mercenary Princess and the Guardians of the Realms series.

Eva has been in love with her dad’s best friend since she was a teenager. Logan is everything she craves. He’s smart, successful, kind, and mind-numbingly hot—no matter that he’s nearly twice her age. Her relentless obsession has kept her from wanting anyone else, and her fantasies have twisted until all she can imagine is him slipping into her room at night to do dirty things to her. Knowing she desperately needs to get over Logan, she schedules an appointment at a club where a “daddy” might fulfill all her fantasies and end her fixation on the one man she can never have.

Logan’s number one rule is never to date a woman closer to his daughter’s age than to his own. No matter how much Eva tempts him, she can never be anything more than the sweet girl he looks out for now that her parents have moved away.

But when Logan’s daughter shares the details of what innocent Eva has planned, he’s faced with the choice to break his number one rule and betray his best friend or allow Eva to do something that could put her in harm’s way. Can he be her “daddy” for a night, or will crossing that line lead to more than he bargained for?

I'm not well versed or well read in the spicy book genre so this is among the first spicy books I've read and I'm definitely intrigued to read similar books to this. Overall it was a short read but a perfect pace and place for me to start with this genre.

Ohh what a fun and spicy little novella! I love me a good age gap romance, but give me a dad's best friend and I will SALIVATE.

Eva has been in love with her best friend's father for as long as she can remember, but Logan has always had one rule - never to date anyone close to his daughter's age. So when Eva asks him to take her virginity, he instantly says no, but after some thought and insight, he decides to go for it. And what a magical and HOT HOT HOT time they have. Omg I was panting at times from how spicy this novella was.

Give me all the novellas like this and I will be a happy girl!

Note - this book is written is third person POV.

An ambitious spicy novella by a rising indie author in the romance space ❤️

Well done spicy scenes are incredibly difficult to do. Indie authors tend to fall into cringe or camp when writing intimate scenes, however this is where Setta Jay shines their brightest! Our main characters are able to show vulnerability and pleasure without becoming clichés or caricatures, which I really appreciated. Anyone who loves, or wants to explore age-gap / daddy kink will really enjoy this.

The novella is structured like a 400 page full romance novel, which is a little too ambitious for the format. We have lots of side characters including family, friends and the titular 'best friend', but no time or space to explore their importance. We have the taboo romance, and the barriers which would keep our main characters apart, but these are smoothed over too quickly for me.

Overall this is a great short read, from an indie author all romance readers should be keeping an eye on.

This book is best read at your best friends house, while laying on your stomach, with a pillow near by.

This is the first kink, double digit age gap, "daddy" trope book I have read. I knew I was going to get spice, but this was "one chip challenge" spicy (for me). I was not prepared for the daddy references and being a good little girl responses. I also did not enjoy the actual age gap. For me, 21 and 40 was just too much. Now had she been, say, 5 years older and he was low to mid 40s, I think I could get better on board with that. Ibdid love Logan though. He was very caring and supportive and took time to learn about the kink. However, he states he was in love with her for a long time as well, which is a little pervy given her age. Again had she been a few years older then it would have not been so bad (to me). All in all, I did enjoy the spice and his taking control and I will read the next in the series when it is available.

A quick preface: I am VERY NEW to the intense smut side of reading, so this was...something.
I picked up the book because I'd heard good things about the author and I instantly recognized the Grouplove song reference in this book's title. I did read the summary and still felt inclined to break out of my genre box and read it. Here are my thoughts :)

1. It was cool that this is a novella. I don't think I would've hung around for a book longer than what it was, so it's nice that she can tell a full story in less pages. Good on her for that!
2. I am NOT fit for reading this particular kink. It made me feel icky inside, but I'm understanding enough about it to know that some people do enjoy this, and if that's the case, those readers are sure to have fun with this novella!
3. The pacing of this novella was exquisite. I blinked and was 20, 40, 60, etc pages through. Certain authors cannot pull that off, but Setta Jay does!
4. Overall I'm giving it 4/5 stars because if I separate the fact that I'm likely not best suited for this genre, it reads very well. She writes organically, has good diction that makes turning the pages feel seamless, and creates likable characters you want to root for, even if their decision making isn't entirely wise haha. I also personally believe that the fmc's friend is absolutely insane to be okay with the relationship dynamic in this book, but that's just me lol.

Again, very grateful to have gotten to read this in advance! Just because it wasn't my cup of tea doesn't mean I can't appreciate that others will find this story engaging, enticing, and enjoyable!

This was a spicy novella about young Eva looking to lose her v card at an adult club. However, her best friends dad, also her dad's best friend, Logan, is her ultimate dream. Logan learns she is going to go to an adult club to take care of it and steps in with a bit of convincing. He agrees to help her despite the age gap due to his longing for her as well.

This book was surprisingly low angst but packed plenty of steam into its short contents. The steamy scenes had plenty of dirty talk and lead up. There was still an emotional component, specifically as to Eva's motivation for scheduling rendezvous at the club, and there was insight into Logan's feelings and past dating history as well. Overall, this is a fun short read!

Thoughts:
This was my first age gap trope read and I definitely learned some things! It’s not a trope that I have been interested in because I always felt like there is a fine line between it turning icky or inappropriate (me, specifically not the trope in general). This book definitely had that fine line for me, but it was cute and I would actually read the next in the series once it comes out!

We follow Eva, a 21 year old graphic designer who is in love with Logan, her best friend’s 39 year old dad as well as her father’s best friend. She has been in love with this man since was 13 years old. But she knows that pursuing her father’s friend would ruin the relationship between her family and Logan. But she is finally over being in an unrequited love throughout her teens. So now, as an adult, she does what people say: “If you can’t get over them, get under someone else” and signs up for a Daddy experience at a local sex club. But she has another problem to handle first. She needs to lose her virginity before that appointment goes down. Kate, Logan’s daughter, tells him of Eva’s plan and he refuses to let Eva go to a place that he deems unsafe. So Logan decides that he will help Eva and be her “Daddy” for one week. Eva finally gets to live out her dirty fantasies with the man of her dreams, but is Logan possibly doing the same?

“Take Me To Your Best Friend’s House” is a good read that I did enjoy but did not LOVE. It was a 3-star read for me. I liked the plot and the chemistry between both Eva and Logan is definitely there and strong. The spice was hot, but it was also lacking due to the writing style early in the book. Looking back at my notes, a lot of what I wasn’t fond of had to do with the straightforward and blunt way Setta Jay writes. Basically, “it is what it is”. For example, some of my annotations was from these line:

“After setting the cup down, she just stared out the window, waiting for the coffee to finish doing its thing.”

“He ripped his T-shirt over his head in that sexy way only hot men knew how to do.”

No actual description of what these things are or how it was done. The author assumes you know what she is talking about. What is the coffee doing exactly? Yes, men taking off their shirts is sexy, but HOW did he do it? There are countless ways men do it. But, I wanna know in which way it being done is sexy to Setta Jay enough to make her write that line. It makes it feel like there aren’t smooth transitions between sentences or scenes. Things either ended and moved on or it is told in a “matter of fact” way that seems…simple. Because of that, Eva seems immature and child-like, which made me feel a little icky when spice happened sometimes. But when Setta Jay hits her writing stride, I’ll say about 57% into the book, she hit the ground running and I loved it.

I just wish Jay took more time describing things, environments, people, situations. I wanted the scenes to pull me in, make me picture it in my mind’s eye, or even last longer. Some of the spice seemed to end too fast and some of the spice just…happened. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am and the scene was done. It lacked buildup for me.

When it comes to characters introduced, Logan is my favorite character in this book, for sure. Straight sex appeal but also THE AFTERCARE. Holy smoke! This man LOVES. This man CARES. This man PROTECTS. Absolutely adored him and the way he handles Eva. Even when he wasn’t sure of the Daddy kink, he learned for her. That was so sweet! He truly made this book for me.

I’m actually kind of excited about the next book which is Kate’s story, Eva’s best friend and Logan’s daughter. I’m hoping that it may be about her and Mark, Eva’s dad. Jay definitely made a point to say Mark was an eligible bachelor at the beginning of the book. The age thing, though, is something that I have to get past. Eva JUST turned 21, but she has a business she’s owned for years. Kate is a travel show host who has been doing that for years. It just seems like the backstories for the characters were meant for adults in their late 20s who’ve lived and not a child who somehow gained all this experience for such careers before the age of 19/20. It just wasn’t believable for me. But they are daughters of wealthy families, so…I guess. It’s just, for me, making the dad 39 years old forces the girls to be significantly young with that 18 year gap. If Logan was 42/43 and Eva was 25, this story would have sat with me a little better. I also wasn’t a fan of knowing that Logan was lusting after Eva or noticed her sexually when she was a senior in high school. That makes her 17/18 at the time. Doesn’t make me feel good thinking back on that line.

I also wish the epilogue was different. It felt rushed and like a cop out. I would have loved to see how their friends and family react and deal with their relationship before the ending given.

All in all, I truly did enjoy the book and can’t wait to see how Setta Jay’s writing style evolves in the next book of this series.

Eva has had a thing for her best friends dad, Logan, for as long as she can remember. Recently, she saw that his ex was back in town sending her in a bit of a spiral. Eva decides shes going to go to a sex club to lose her virginity and fulfill her fantasies. Her best friend, Kate, isn’t on board with the idea and brings up asking her dad, Logan, to assist Eva instead. Eva takes her friends blessing and asks Logan but is initially turned down. Logan eventually changes his mind and Eva gets what she asked for … and more than she could’ve dreamed of.

This was a good novella. I felt it have enough details without dragging on too much but still made sense. The spice was just enough for what I was expecting with this novella. Overall, not a bad read. I saw there’s more coming to the series so I’ll probably read them as well,

Thank you to Setta Jay & Netgalley for the ARC opinions are my own. Rating: 3.5/5

Whoa! This book was hot! I've always enjoyed a good older man/younger woman trope and I have to say this one is my favorite. I loved that the author kept a more realistic approach. A lot of the time, books in this trope are bit over the top or silly and I was thrilled to find that the characters in this one were mature and more relatable. Plus, it was a super hot read. I'm really looking forward to more in the series.

I finished this novella in about 4 hours it was a quick read and kept me hooked.

My goodness, this one had me clutching my pearls at times. This was my first "Daddy kink" story and boy, was it steamy. It had all the things, age gap, forbidden romance, and kinky fantasies. I was very happy for the epilogue, I was going to be so mad if this left me hanging but it didn't.

Thank you to the author for the chance to read the ARC.

I really wish I had some great, elioquent review of Take Me To Your Best Friend's House, but honestly, all I can say is I freaking LOVED it.

My first Setta Jay book, I knew I was going to be hooked from page one. I LOVED the unique spin on the usual Dad's Best Friend Trope in how it was combined with a Best Friend's Dad trope. Yep, Logan is not only Eva's dad's best friend, he is also the dad of HER best friend Kate! What's even more refreshing, is from the get-go, Kate was supportive of pushing her father and best friend at one another!

This book was sexy and steamy in all the best ways. Perhaps the only downside is that you'll be singing the song the book is named after on repeat in your head for days after putting down the book.

Total five star read and I cannot wait to go back through Setta Jay's backlist!
