Thank you to Steven J. Simmons, Clifford R. Simmons, Charlesbridge, and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was cute and very informative. The artwork was beautiful. I read it with my child (5) and they liked it but it was a little hard to keep their attention towards the end because the book was a little long. I’m going to try reading it again at bedtime. All in all, I would definitely recommend this to others!!
Wow! This was so good! The illustration in here was spectacular! It's colorful, rhymes, is incredibly informative and even pushes for kids to go to sleep! As a parent myself, that's a win all around! I would definitely recommend this book to families.

Just read with my daughter
I love how cute this book is with the illustrations!
Each page tells facts about the sea creatures on the page and then what they do to get to sleep, in the end I love how it shows human children and then how we sleep in dry beds ! This book would be amazing for a teacher and or home school mom wanting to teach on sea animals or a specific animal like sea turtles or sea horses ! Though is a fun read it has such amazing facts that children can truthfully learn from and will adore .
My 3 and 5 year olds loved this book. They gave it a 10/10! I also loved it. It was very informative with a lot of facts about animals. The pictures were super cute too.
This is such a wonderful story. The illustrations are gorgeous! You feel like you are underwater! I would recommend this for a classroom book case.
I received this book as an ARC via NetGalley and am so happy I did. I read it to my kids before bed and they loved it! The pictures were beautiful and they enjoyed pointing out the various animals. I even learned a thing or two about how some of them sleep. The writing was well put together and flowed nicely with the rhymes. I am thankful for opportunity to involve my kiddos with the review!

I'm a teacher for children 3-6 and found this book lovely! The images are realistic and really pretty, which I think children will enjoy, plus the information is really interesyand engaging. The balance of image-text is really adequate for this age group and I love a nice book with rhymes! I think they always add something special since they are hearing other forms of language.
I really loved this book and definitely will buy it in print to add it to my school and personal library.
Thank you for the ark!
To give appropriate feedback on Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep At Night?, I read the book to our 2-year-old son:
The book "Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep At Night?" quickly became a favorite after just one reading. Initially, my son wasn't paying attention, but as I read on, the illustrations and rhymes caught his attention. He even asked me to reread it (twice). We both started to understand the rhythm and flow of the book and were able to make a song that my son was nodding along to.
I really enjoyed reading this book by Simmons & Simmons because it presented a lot of factual information in an easy to understand and entertaining manner. The book's overall structure kept my son interested, and I even learned a thing or two about sea creatures myself.
My son enjoyed Harper's illustrations, naming several sea life he recognized.
I highly recommend Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep At Night? for parents whose children are interested in ocean life, enjoy books that rhyme, or for those who want to add some non-fiction to their children's mini-libraries. I'm definitely planning to buy Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep At Night? as soon as it is available.
Children will easily follow this adorable nonfiction picture book! While the title indicates the focus is on where the animals sleep, the information does not stop there. Before the sleeping place is revealed, each creature gets a little rhyme informing the reader of something of the creature's nature. The sleeping place also gets its own rhyme making this a great book for little ones!
Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep At Night is a nonfiction book about ocean creatures’ way of living. From this book, you will find out about their characteristics and of course, how they sleep.
Because this book is a nonfiction book, I did not expect that the writing would be so beautifully engaging. I thought it would be straight-up to tell the reader some facts about ocean creatures, but apparently, it was not! The Simmonses use rhyme and their choice of words is beautiful. This book does not feel like nonfiction at all. It feels like a tale that you can read to your children at bedtime.
I highly recommend this book. It is not only informative but also entertaining, and the illustration is so pleasing to look at.
The cover is astonishingly beautiful. My kids loved seeing the ocean and loved the story definitely a favorite.
This book discusses many different ocean creatures and how/where they sleep. It is an interesting concept and one that I never really considered. There are pretty illustrations with great colors. The rhyming lines make it good for young readers.
Thank you, Charlesbridge, for the advance reading copy.
I find this book so interesting. It’s full of illustrations and the most colourful pages!
The book tells the different sleep routines of different beings that are living in the ocean. It’s been shown in a fun and entertaining way! Surely I can guarantee that the adults reading along with will also learn a lot from this book.
How cute was this!! My 6 year old and 1.5 year old twins love this story!! I’m able to read it to them on my fire tablet so they can see the pictures! They adore this story and I can’t wait to buy a physical copy for them!
This was a beautifully illustrated book that takes the reader on an informative journey learning about many different sea creatures, what they do and where they sleep. At the end it even shows a child going to sleep and explains the importance of sleep (that's awesome)!
This is such a sweet little book about different sea creatures and their sleep and daily behaviours. The words have such a beautiful rhythm and would be perfect for a night time story for little ones. I am definitely waiting until this book is released so I can purchase it for my 10-month old son.
This was a really sweet children’s book. The rhyming text was fun and kept my son engaged. The illustrations are bright and colorful. I could see this being a great bedtime story to read to young kids.
This was so cute! It had rhyming and was a smooth read. It had lots of great information but done in a soothing bedtime story way. My child immediately asked for us to reread it and it also gave us the opportunity to elaborate on the different animals. 10/10 recommend
This is a super cute and informative story that kiddos will love!
I love the rhyming throughout the book, and the images are beautifully done.
A great read for kids, especially those that are curious about the world around them.
Written in rhyming couplets, Where do Ocean Creatures Sleep at Night, talks to us about the different characteristics of ocean creatures, such as what they eat and any predators that influences where they will sleep at night from the sting ray hidden on the seabed floor to the parrotfish and its mucus cocoon and the great white shark that need to swim whilst it sleeps.
The illustrations are striking they make the book a joy to turn each page. I particularly liked the blended colours which gave it a mystical feel. I really loved the otters.
This fun and informative book covers subjects of camouflage and safety and is full of fascinating facts. Would be a useful classroom resource for a topic on Habitats and Humans and Other Animals.
I like it so much!!!
It's Avery colourful and informative. I like how it's rhyming!!!!!! A plus point for the sake of literature ✨
Super cute book! My nature loving 5 year old enjoyed this book. This is one I would definitely be willing to have in our collection!
Readers who enjoyed Where Do Diggers Sleep At Night may also enjoy this read. Similar in reading level and layout, this book has the added benefit of educating the reader about ocean habitats.
The drawings feel ethereal, like watercolor. The rhymes can be a bit clunky, with extra words added to make a rhyme.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Absolutely wonderful children's bed time story. The artwork is dreamy and beautiful. I love how the text rhymes. Besides the general nice sleepy mood, it's also educational. Really 10/10 children's book, and it's enjoyable for me as well. :-)
The rhyming prose is well thought out and planned as well as delightful, but the wonderful illustrations by Ruth E. Harper are delightful, imaginative, detailed, and colorful which makes the words so much more fun.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Charlesbridge via NetGalley. Thank you!
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the ebook in exchange for an honest review. This book felt like a fairy tale. The colorful illustrations elevated the content. The information in this book is presented very effectively through beautiful illustrations. It's a perfect choice for kids and they will fall in love with the wonderful creatures in the ocean.
As the title suggests, this rhyming book shows where sea creatures sleep each night. I enjoyed that each animal featured is also shown during the day and facts are given about the animals before showing where they sleep. The illustrations are gorgeous! This will be the perfect addition to my ocean themed classroom!
My kids always have questions like the ones answered in the book. Where do octopi hide when they sleep? Can dolphins still breathe when they sleep? How long do animals sleep? I didn't know all the facts in the book, so the authors dove deep to find some facts not commonly known by the general population. The illustrations were beautiful and very peaceful. I think reading this to a two or three year old might be a stretch unless they were very highly interested in the subject. I think the length and animals facts might be more appropriate for a five year old, and I know my ten year old animal lover would love it, too.
These are great questions! Where do all these animals sleep at night?
The rhymes are great, the pictures are gorgeous, and there is a lot of science. It's obviously a bedtime book but it would be fun to read to a group and get the kids to act it out.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
Great illustrations and descriptions! Enjoyed flipping through this and seeing the imagination put into each page.
I received this DRC from NetGalley.
Cute book. The artwork is nice, and the information all rhymes. Nonfiction books for small children are always a good idea.
With rhyming text, the author questions where certain commonly known ocean creatures sleep at night and reminds readers that sleep is important for all growing creatures, including children. Delightful illustrations accompany the text.
As someone who loves the ocean and seeing the different creatures within it, I enjoyed reading this book to my little one.
This is such a great book to share with kids before a beach trip or even during a marine science homeschool lesson. There were many different types of sea creatures discussed which I think adds to the engaging quality of the book. I think that this is a story that young ocean lovers would be a big fan of and also would be a great book for an ocean themed summer reading program.
Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep at Night is a super cute, well-written, and thoughtful book about ocean creatures and where they sleep. We've read lots of other "where do ____ sleep at night" books and enjoyed this iteration. It covered a lot of creatures and the illustrations were stunning. It was a perfect balance of informative and accessible. I would highly recommend to any kiddos interested in learning about animals, the sea, or doing a unit on sea creatures. This would be a great read aloud for teachers and librarians. It would also make a wonderful gift with tickets to an aquarium.

Thank you #NetGalley and #Charlesbridge for the opportunity to read this book early in exchange for a review. All opinions and thoughts are those of my own (and my son's opinions). #OceanCreatures #WhereDoOceanCreaturesSleepatNight
This book has beautiful illustrations. The color differences between awake and asleep can lead to some great class discussion. I love when a book rhymes but the rhyming doesn’t take away from the content, which this book achieves! The book answers a great question, but doesn’t feel heavy in non-fiction.
A beautifully illustrated non-fiction book about our friends under the sea. So many really fascinating facts about sea creatures that I bet you didn’t know. For instance, did you know octopus sleep in holes and can change color to blend in better with its surroundings while it sleeps? This book will make you appreciate how nature has given sea creatures special traits to keep them safe while they do something so simple as sleeping.
This book is filled with such great facts that are not as well known. It's presented in such a way that is engaging and predictable with the rhyming. The pictures are beautifully illustrated.
I received a copy of this eBook for a honest review from NetGalley.
This picture book is beautiful and informative! I learned some things and I wanted to be a marine biologist growing up. The illustrations are wonderful and the story flows even while giving out numerous facts. I would highly recommend this picture book.
What a beautiful book! The illustrations are captivating and my small human loved how the words rhymed.
The book talks about the various sleep routines of creatures who live under the see. Really important information written an a very accessible and informative way.
Really great story for Early Years as well as a brilliant bedtime story.
This non-fiction title is a beautifully illustrated book that certainly answers "Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep at Night?" This book has great vocabulary, a variety of ocean animals, and rhyming text. It is a book I would use for a story time as it is a factual book with bold illustrations to talk about with kids. It can also be used as a bed time story as it links children going to sleep in comparison to how the animals go to sleep.
We loved this book.In this rhyming picture book we get to see into the ocean and learn how the many different animals sleep at night. The illustrations are very vibrant and colorful. With simple text we learn how each animal sleeps during the night. We loved the clownfish and the seahorses. We were so excited to receive this as an ebook ARC and we will be buying it as soon as it comes out. We plan to read it again and again, especially as we get ready for a trip to the aquarium at the end of April. We will get our book just in time. Your family will enjoy this book. It would also be great to use in a classroom. Possibilities are endless.
This was very cute. And fascinating. I can easily see how this could become part of someone's bed routine with their child.
The illustrations were lovely and interesting to look at. And the author had choosen a good variety of sear creatures that all sleep in diffferent ways. It was actually very fascinating to learn about and reflect on how varied nature is.
And I loved the ending, reminding the child that now it's time for them to go to bed as well. Loved it. If I had a kid on my own that I needed to guide to bed on a regular basis, I would 100p buy this.
I absolutely loved this book. As a nanny I am always looking for the perfect bedtime story. This was witty, cute, sooo informative and educational and really enjoyable. I’ll definitely be purchasing it
Super cute bedtime book. You learn about the animals ocean environment, what their days are like while enjoying the bright and fun illustrations.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Beautifully illustrated. The colors in this book pop right off the page. The information shared with the reader was well presented and definitely accessible for the intended audience. The topic was something that was fun and encouraged curiosity outside of this book alone. The ocean is such a vastly untapped field of study for us as humans due to its depth and because of that learn bits about it and those who live in it, can pique both curiosity and imagination.
What a sweet bedtime book with a ton of facts about underwater creatures!
There are a ton of facts about water animals and ends with how they sleep. It’s easy to understand and would be great for a wider age group.
The book is written in rhyming verse with gorgeous, muted illustrations.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the ebook in exchange for my honest review !
Where Do Ocean Creatures Sleep at Night is spectacular! The artwork is colorful, and the story is full of facts about animals and their sleeping habits/locations. I found the sharks and whales sleeping habits to be particularly interesting!
I think children of all ages will enjoy this book from the colorful illustrations to the rhyming words.
I received an ARC from Charlesbridge via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Yay! This book was awesome, and little-me would be so happy to know it exists! Adorable pictures, and a fun sing-song-y story. Wonderfully informative! Can't wait to re-read this one.
Thanks to Netgalley and Charlesbridge for the ARC of this!
This was a cute, bedtime book. Showcasing sweet animals and soothing rhymes, this is an adorable introduction to the different habits of ocean creatures.
Eleven sea animals, eleven ways to rest. Several facts are given about each animal, done in a very short space. Not a word is wasted.
Though some feel missing! Animals alternate between getting 4 sets of rhyming couplets and 3 sets of couplets. There’s not a lack of pagespace to explain this, and it’s an odd poetic choice. I really would have preferred a nice, round 4 couplets for every page spread.
No extra text-dense pages at the end. But that’s fine, this book is really aimed at the very young readers. Not a board book, certainly, but this is definitely meant to convince your own little creatures to go to sleep.
The artwork is done in wonderfully soft watercolors, making just about every animal cuddly. And even the sharks aren’t intimidating. I do wish there was significantly less whitespace. Each 2-page spread has one page that’s full-color, while the other is, generously, one third image, 2/3rds blank.
Overall, a good library pick, though probably not for your own home, unless you’re a family of snorklers.
