Description

The perfect boyfriend only exists on paper…doesn’t he?

Fresh off the heels of a bad breakup, Chloe Anderson poured her heart into penning the perfect boyfriend—and the result was an off-the-charts debut beach read that resonated with women worldwide. Now, Chloe’s scripted hero is headed for Hollywood, with her book destined to become a major motion picture.

When Chloe gets wind that silver screen bad boy Liam Hamilton has been cast as the ideal-in-every-way hero of her novel, she’s horrified by the film director’s choice. How could a player like Liam possibly do Chloe’s perfect hero justice? Unafraid to speak her mind, Chloe lets her executive producer know she’s one hundred percent opposed to the casting. And oops—the call is on speakerphone, where the annoyingly attractive Hollywood star hears Chloe’s unbridled outrage firsthand.

With Liam’s reputation already on the rocks, his agent concocts a PR plan to upgrade Liam’s image while putting the story—and the film—in the spotlight. The catch? During the movie’s filming in Chloe’s cute hometown of Stillwater, North Carolina, Chloe and Liam will fake a wholesome, committed relationship. Both stand to gain something from the arrangement. Liam’s fans will see him in a new light, while Chloe can boost her struggling social media following and further her writing career. What could possibly go wrong?

As author and actor navigate the waters of the PR relationship, they’re unprepared when their professional agreement turns into an actual friendship. And when serious sparks start to fly—well, that’s an unread chapter for both of them.

  • Charming contemporary romance
  • Stand-alone novel

Hunter has a gift of writing heartfelt, beautiful stories with unforgettable, loveable characters. I started reading this book on a Saturday morning and never set it down until the last page was turned. None of my Saturday chores were done, however, my heart was full of this exhilarating, inspiring story.
Chloe Anderson’s debut novel is being made into a movie. Lodger, the main male character was written to portray the perfect boyfriend. Chloe is worried what acter will be chose to play him since she feels he is the key to making the movie a success. In reviews of the book, Ledger has been called the “best book boyfriend of all time.” When the call comes to announce to Chloe that Liam Hamilton will play the all-important role of Ledger, Chloe is stunned. Liam is hugely popular at the box office, however, in real-life his reputation as a womanizer precedes him.
The movie is to be filed in Chloe’s small hometown of Stillwater Bay, North Carolina, where Liam arrives a week ahead of schedule to get the feel of the town. When Chloe notices him strolling through the town, toward her, she dives into a round rack of clothes on the sidewalk to avoid him. Several sneezes later, she peeks out from the clothes and looks right at Liam. This is just the beginning of a wild adventure for them both.
To improve Lian’s reputation, Chloe agrees to a fake relationship with him, that includes numerous social media posts. So many times, I had to pause in reading just so I could catch my breath after laughing.
This delightful, charming story, has many interesting facets, even going back to the childhood of both Liam and Chloe’s family. It was a letdown when the last page was turned. I was not ready to say good-bye to these unforgettable, loveable characters.

Chloe has written her dream man into a character in her first book, which is a bestseller about to be made into a movie. The film is set in her small town, and even on her property, and the handsome actor cast as her dream man is not someone she would pick. In an effort to salvage what she is sure is going to ruin the film, she cuts a deal with Liam in order to get him to spend some time with her, so she can influence the portrayal of the main character. Of course, things don’t go exactly as planned…

Denise Hunter has a way with small town romances, laced with family drama. Her characters aren’t perfect, which makes them even more likeable. I really liked the story and loved the characters, and was rooting for a happy ending for Chloe.

Let me first say that I have read every book Denise Hunter has ever written, and I will continue to do so. Forever. She is my go-to for a great romance that tugs the heart strings, and she always makes me long to hop into my car and drive to the Carolinas. Denise Hunter has written a many novels, but I believe this one might be her best yet! What a wonderful story! An excellent romance by one of the top Christian contemporary authors, but I think anyone regardless of religion would enjoy the sweetness and the depth (and the man!) of this well-plotted love story. Wonderful, captivating writing gives this novel the ability to pull in any reader. Vivid, descriptive story-telling, with interesting characters that have depth to them, and are skillfully rendered. At the end of the book, they seemed more like friends than book characters to me. I highly recommend this author and all of her other books I have read have been nothing less than fantastic. She is definitely an auto-buy author for me, and I can't wait to own this novel in print. After sending in this review, I now plan to read it all over again!

Love, Unscripted
This is the second book I have read by Denise Hunter and I really enjoyed it. She has a knack for engaging your interest immediately.
Chloe lives in a small southern town and has written a best seller about the perfect hero and Hollywood is making it into a movie. When she finds out the lead is being played by an actor with a less than stellar reputation she is horrified and doesn’t realize Liam is on the call, too. Not a great start to a working relationship! Will they be able to work together?
Really fun read with great characters.

I absolutely loved this book by Denise Hunter! Small town girl Chloe just wants the perfect man. So she invents one and writes a novel about him. Her book is a best seller and is being turned into a movie -- cue actor Liam who plays the part well. Too well, it seems. Sparks fly and...well, you'll have to read it to find out. Five stars.

Chloe Anderson has written a bestselling romance that is now being made into a major movie. She is excited until she discovers the bad-boy actor Liam Hamilton has been cast in the lead role of the perfect boyfriend. Chloe expresses her dismay and disgust to the producer on the phone not realizing Liam is in the room, and overhears her withering feelings. Soon Liam and the cast are out in Chloe’s town to shoot the film and Chloe inadvertently gets associated with him via a paparazzi photo. She and Liam who have had a rocky start, are forced for the sake of the movie to look like they are an item. Chloe hopes she can at least give Liam some tips on how to portray the ultimate book boyfriend and soon they become friends and find themselves falling for each other.

Denise Hunter has penned a sweet romantic story filled with some humor as well as deeper themes of how children are affected by the betrayal of their parents. Liam is dealing with a severely alcoholic mother. Chloe’s father abandoned her for another family. She carries the abandonment into all her relationships as does Liam.

The setting of a beachside town in North Carolina is lovely and Denise handles the issues of a writer faced with watching her novel be turned into a film with the sophistication that can only come from personal experience. The subplot of Chloe’s best friend and her brother also is compelling.

I received a complimentary advance reader copy and this review is my honest opinion.

This is an interesting read. What starts out as a fake relationship turns into something more serious, but not without misunderstandings and challenges.
This read gives you a true but frightening look at Hollywood and filming movies. I would never survive!

Have you ever dreamed of that perfect boyfriend? In Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter Chloe Anderson pens the perfect boyfriend in her debut bestselling novel. The book is so popular that a company picks up the movie rights and against Chloe’s wishes casts the known bad boy of Hollywood as the lead role. Sparks fly – for good or bad? You will need to grab a copy to find out.

I absolutely love Denise Hunter’s books. Thanks NetGalley and Harper Collins Christian Publishing for my ARC.

Love Unscripted by Denise Hunter was is so entertaining and the main characters are so much fun. I was hooked on the first chapter. Denise Hunter is one of my favorite authors. Her characters always have such quick wit in their conversations that keep you smiling. Almost like that friend we all have that you feel better after being with them. Her books never let me down.

The plot is a different in some ways from other romances and that makes it more appealing. Chloe is a up and coming author with a book that is very popular and a movie is being made from the book.

Liam and Chloe are the main characters. Liam is a famous actor whose reputation is being destroyed by lies from social media and magazines. Liam has signed a contract to play the lead in the movie. Chloe is less than pleased with the signing because of his reputation After meeting him and having several conversations, they decided for the best of the movie to act like they were in a relationship to get the rumors of his love life down. This relationship continues through most of the filming of the movie. They fooled the paparazzi, social media and family into thinking they were really dating. But soon, real feelings for each other surfaced and confused them both. As the fake relationship is exposed by someone and truth is known by all, their relationship unravels. You will love seeing how this all works out.

LOVE, UNSCRIPTED by DENISE HUNTER is a lovely read, set in the small town of Stillwater Bay, with very real characters that the author portrays with her great insight into human nature.
When a local girl, Chloe Anderson’s, best selling novel is about to be turned into a movie she is thrilled, excepting for the fact that the actor that has been chosen to play the part of her hero, Ledger Ford, does not live up to the perfect man she has created in her book - the man with whom all her readers have fallen in love. Instead the producers have chosen Liam Hamilton, the “greatest player” in Hollywood, whose bad reputation precedes him……
What we learn from this entertaning story is that people are not always who they seemnto be on the outside. Although Chloe and Liam live completely different lives, they both struggle with rejection issues due to their respective fathers’ abandonment. We also see how famous people’s lives are not their own, and also the fickleness of people in a community. The themes of forgiveness, friendship and family dynamics are very strong.
I do not want to tell you any more for fear of spoiling things for you.
I cannot recommend this beautifully written and entertaining book strongly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson. The opinions in this review are competely my own.

I loved this rom-com book! It’s about a book being made into a movie, and it really should be made into a movie! It’s an easy read and it kept my attention. I even read while my parents were visiting because I couldn’t put it down. I loved how the antagonism between Chloe and Liam morphed into sparks. I really do hope this will eventually be a movie.

An absolute delight! I think I've read almost every book Denise Hunter has written. Love, Unscripted just might be my new favorite (but please don't tell Beau from Falling Like Snowflakes).
This sweet romance features a small-town North Carolina girl who has written a novel that is about to become a movie. Except she isn't thrilled with the casting selection for the hero's role. Insert fake dating trope (which I also adore), and that's where the fun begins.
There's drama, backstories that tug at our heartstrings, complicated family dynamics, a lovely setting, and lots of intriguing details regarding what it takes to film a movie on location.
No spoilers here, of course, so let me just say that if you like wholesome romance with a swoon-worthy hero, plenty of clever plot twists, and a satisfying conclusion, then you need to add Love, Unscripted to your TBR list.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the complimentary early copy. All opinions shared here are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter, a fun romantic story about an author with a hit book turned into a movie and the actor set to portray her hero. In order to boost his bad-boy image set by the tabloids, Liam suggests a fake relationship with Chloe, the author. What happens next are all the mishaps and misunderstandings of what goes into fooling everyone to make it look real. I highly recommend this book and all of Denise Hunter’s books! She never disappoints me.

I have always loved Denise Hunter's novels and her newest Love, Unscripted is no different. I loved it. Five stars.

Love Unscripted by Denise Hunter is one of her best novels yet. I hope it will be made into a Hallmark Movie!
Chloe Culpepper wants to meet her dream guy and fall in love, but she has yet to meet him, so she creates him in her novel. Her book touches the heart of many women that are longing for the same love and quickly goes to the best seller list. Chloe is so excited when a production company wants to make a movie about her book and film it right in her hometown in South Carolina.
Chloe is so honored and excited about the movie, until she finds out the actor, Liam Hamilton, will be playing the part of her dream man.
Liam Hamilton is a famous actor with a very bad reputation that has been destroyed by lies from the paparazzi and social media. When Chloe and Liam meet for the first time, it is a funny scene and Chloe sees Liam as the arrogant actor she has heard about until she gets know him.
They decide for the sake of the book and his reputation that they will pretend to be in a relationship. Will the media or their friends see the truth, you must read Love Unscripted to find out what happens! You will not be sorry.

Denise is my go-to author for swoony romance and Love, Unscripted delivered. 5 stars!

This standalone romance has everything I look for in a good story, a great meet-cute, witty banter, and a wonderful seaside setting. Typically, I don't read stories that involve "Hollywood" movie making, but I trusted Hunter to do the story justice. She brought a depth of insight into these characters who seemed so opposite but ended up finding more in common than either of them would have thought.

Some of my favorite funny lines,
"So basically your brother wants to beat me up."
"Don't worry, he needs his hands in the kitchen."
"That's good. I need my face in the movie."

I loved everything about Love, Unscripted and highly recommend it to fans of romance and happy ever after stories. I appreciate Thomas Nelson making a copy available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

LOVE, UNSCRIPTED is such a sweet story. I highly recommend it for fans of Christian romance. As a longtime reader of Denise Hunter's books, I'm always excited when she has a new one out -- and this one does not disappoint. Chloe and Liam will steal your hearts and the plot will keep you turning the pages.
They have a rocky start but are forced to pretend like all is going well. They soon develop a genuine friendship and you can guess where it goes from there.

There is humor within these pages as well as heartbreaking betrayal. The bond that develops between Chloe and Liam feels meaningful in part because each is dealing with a serious issue: Liam with an alcoholic and dysfunctional mother and Chloe with a father who abandoned her family for another family.

As always, the setting selected by Denise Hunter is charming. As a native North Carolinian, I can attest to the fact that she expertly captures the atmosphere and texture of a Carolina beachside town.

The subplot of Chloe’s best friend and her brother was a little distracting at first, but ultimately added to the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance e-galley; all opinions in this review are 100% my own.

I absolutely adored this sweet romance of author Chloe and, the actor in HER movie, Liam. Not only Love Unscripted but also life unscripted. A story of learning from a past of hurt to a future of fulfillment. Overcoming abandonment and realizing that "I am enough." Chloe wrote a hit romance novel that's being turned into a movie and she wants the lead to be perfect. Her disappointment in who is chosen is embarrassing as well as just plain funny. But you can't always believe the tabloids. Enter Stillwater Bay and find the journey of a lifetime.

Once again, Denise Hunter pulled me right into another one of her books with a story I never felt like putting down—which is probably why I finished reading it in less than a day. I always enjoy the gentle flow of her stories, but what I especially loved about this one was the relationship between the author heroine and the movie star hero who is playing the lead in a film adaptation of her novel. This story reminded me a little bit of Nora Goes Off Script. A lot of fun elements, but a lot of heart and emotion too. Highly recommend.

Cute book. I loved it from the beginning. Especially with how they first meet. I really like how their relationship blossoms. How it becomes more than just a farce and cannot be explained away as shallow. Great job Ms. Hunter!!

Very heartwarming, feel good book. I love Denise Hunter’s writing style. It’s warm and genuine. Chloe is an author with a hit with her first novel. It is so good it is picked up to make a movie out of it. The hero in her book is the perfect boyfriend. Every woman’s dream man come to life. Casting for the part of dream boyfriend falls on real life bad boy, Liam. Sparks fly from this point on. This book has it all, romance, trials, wounded and healing of hearts. Wonderful storyline and characters. Would love to see this made into a movie. It would entertain for sure. I was given an advanced reader copy of this very well written book by NetGalley and I am freely sharing my review.

I’ve read a number of Denise Hunter’s romances and love her small town settings, engaging characters, and heartwarming stories. There is family drama, imperfect and realistic characters, and emotion. I enjoyed this book and recommend it as a feel-good and entertaining read.

Thank you NetGalley for the early readers copy. I really enjoyed this story of an authors story being made in to a movie. The relationship between the author, Chloe, and her leading man , Liam, isn’t going well. So will this relationship work it’s self out? Only time will tell. But, I think you will love the story regardless of how it works out. I loved my first Denise Hunter book and I can’t wait for another story.

A beautiful story of forgiveness, self discovery, and learning to trust. Denise Hunter never fails to weave together a story that touches my heart. I know that picking up one of her books will make me feel all the emotions just as this book did. I found myself laughing, crying, and rooting for them to get there happily ever after.

New author Chloe Anderson can’t believe her first book is going to be a movie. That excitement is quickly dimmed when she finds out Hollywood bad boy Liam Hamilton will be playing her beloved hero in the story. After a rocky start to their working relationship, the two decide to put differences aside and work together to make sure the movie is a success. What unfolds is something neither would have predicted. They are both faced with coming to terms with their pasts and facing their futures head on.

This book is a must read! Wonderful characters and so well written that you feel as if you are living it with them. This will definitely be a book I will want to reread later on.

This was another cute and fun read from Denise Hunter!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one and didn't want it to end!.
So very good!
Wonderful, captivating, and cool characters that you will love from the very beginning.
To me, there's no such perfect anyone boyfriend or not, and Liam seems to be the perfect example of not so perfect. Neither is Chloe.
Of course, eventually, they made me fall in love with both of them, and yes, they sometimes made me grin while at the same time I wanted to shake them silly.
A Hallmark movie could be made from this one in my opinion.
The cover is simply gorgeous.
Another 5 star from me for a very entertaining read. I highly recommend.

I’ve loved every Denise Hunter book that I’ve read, and when I finish one, I always decide that that one is my favorite. Now Love, Unscripted is my favorite! I adored it! I don’t know about you, but I’ve had plenty of celebrity crushes. My first celebrity crush was Donny Osmond. I was five. Yes, five. Needless to say, Love, Unscripted’s heroine Chloe is living my best life. Though she didn’t have a crush on the star cast as the hero of her novel…

Love, Unscripted is just so charming and gave me all the feelings! Chloe wrote the hero in her book with the characteristics of her perfect man…as if one man could fit her mold. I think we can agree that the best heroes are flawed because that makes them real! Hunter’s characters are so well-written with lots of depth, plenty of good characteristics, and yes, definitely flaws. I could go on and on about how swoon-worthy Liam is, but you’ve got to trust me here and read it!

I just cannot say enough good stuff about this completely captivating novel! It will have you cracking up, and it will have you crying. I realize it’s early in the year, but this is going on my best novels of 2024 list! It will be hard to beat this sweet, clean, small town romance book. I highly, most ardently recommend Love, Unscripted!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I enjoy Denise Hunter's books and this one did not disappoint, and we are with an author, who's book is being made into a movie.

Author Chloe Anderson's book has been chosen, and she is a little upset about whom was chosen to play the hero of her book, and Liam Hamilton is not what she wants.

This is a story of sweet romance, past broken families, and some sibling problems.

Can opposites attract? Well, maybe they really have more in common that they think?

When a betrayal appears, will these two pretend friends be able to repair the damage? Answers come, and thus the page turner!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

I’ve always loved Denise Hunter’s books. But I thought I knew where this one was headed and that I probably wouldn't love it as much as others. Well, let me tell you – I was wrong!!! It’s not that I didn't know where it was going as much as all that happened between the beginning and the end.
I loved the book and the feels it evoked. I loved learning all about filming a movie and all the many things that went into filming on location. I loved knowing that Denise has had some books turned into movies that that she knew a lot of what she was talking about from first hand experience.
I loved that Chloe was big into being honest above all with Liam. And Liam let Chloe see his real self.
This was a fun book to read. I certainly recommend it!
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

What do you do when your dream comes true but all the details aren't necessarily what you had envisioned? Denise Hunter's latest book features Chloe, a great daughter, supportive sister and writer. Her first book has been published, resonated with readers and is headed for the big screen. What possibly could hamper this for her? One name: Liam Hamilton, that's what or rather who. He's the actor set to play the lead male character and he's so not the guy for the job.
And so readers get an amusing and engaging story as Hunter unfolds the drama of the situation and how her characters compromise and work together to get the movie to the big screen on time.
Along the way there's falling in love, happy family moments, questions, doubts, realizations and love. Readers will love the setting and get caught up in the characters, rooting for things to work out. Definitely worth the read.
I received an ARC through NetGalley. The opinions are mine and freely given.

Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter is a beautifully written romantic story. Chloe knows something about heart break. Rather than wallow in this, she pens an epic story that is being made into a movie. I do love the behind the scenes look at how a book is turned into the big screen. I literally laughed out loud when she found out about Liam being the leading man. That was one of the best scenes ever written. Or maybe the bikini scene? It’s hard to say. There are so many painfully laugh out loud scenes in this book. True to Hunter form though, there are also deeply emotional experiences with a perfect balance of curl your toes romance. I enjoyed the transformation of both characters and the journey they took to get there. Be prepared, once you pick up this book, you will not want to put it down. I highly recommend!

Thank you Net Galley for the complimentary kindle edition of Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter. This review is 100% my personal opinion and will contain spoilers of the title mentioned.

This title is set in a small-town where everyone knows everyone and you can garner the feeling throughout the novel. Chloe published her first book and it was being turned into a movie. She had high hopes for the movie and its success, but she had no idea how things were going to go with Hollywood star, Liam Hamilton. He rolls into town to play her idea of what a boyfriend should be in Ledger and she is none to happy about the star as he has quite the past of his own.

Chloe comes to know Liam and realizes the media does not portray him as Liam, but as some Hollywood star moving from one girl to the next. But Chloe has a secret she has never told anyone, except Liam and it is exploited for the tabloids to print. Broken-hearted she doesn't know why Liam would divulge this secret for the world to read, but then she finds out it was her bestie who owns up to the mistake.

After filming is completed, Liam takes the first flight out of this small town and heads back to L.A. Both are crushed from his departure, but neither were willing to swallow their pride and talk through the tiff they had. Chloe did the unthinkable and blocked his number.

I absolutely loved this title. Regardless of the ending, the characters were well developed and loveable. Instantly, I could tell Chloe was going to be a fun character and I could not wait to see the blooming romance between her and Liam, but it didn't go how I expected which is what I loved about it. A secret arrangement to date for publicity purposes and to boost their image was a great idea, until love happened and then the tabloids learned of their scandal. This kept Chloe tucked away at home while Liam darted off after filming was wrapped up.

Denise does a great job of having numerous characters, but really honing in on this pair of Chloe and Liam which I enjoyed. Sometimes too many characters just turns me away from a book because it is too many to keep track of, but when they focus the budding romance on just one couple it makes the story richer. Also, the storyline flows really well, it does have any time swaps which is also complimentary to this novel.

Great read!

Love, Unscripted is a story that will take you on a journey, that takes you to a small community, the glamour of Hollywood, a movie set, a family owned restaurant, the paparazzi, and friends determined to help you go through the things you have to go through. At the reccomendation of a friend, she highly suggests Denise Hunter as an awesome author. Boy was she right, this is am amazing book! This is my first Denise Hunter read. A book for me, that was so difficult to put down, reading it so amazingly fast, as it kept my interest and could not wait to see what would happen in each chapter.

It takes place in a small southern town. The author of a romance novel gets her book made into a movie. All the characters are so heartwarming and this book teaches you to really get to know someone. You really get to learn what goes into the makings of movies. What a wonderful relationship between all of the characters.

Denise Hunter, your book has gotten my attention really big. I plan on reading many more of your books and highly recommend you as a wonderful author.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book prior to publication. It was so much an honor to read : "Love, Unscripted".

I really loved this story about Chloe and Liam. Hunter always writes the best books. This book showed how important trust is in a relationship. Chloe had a hard time with relationships. When Liam suggested a PR relationship Chloe agreed. Liam was the actor in a movie that was about a book that Chloe wrote. Little did they know that the fake relationship was becoming a reality and how were they going to deal with it. Sean, Chloe's brother was one of those people who couldn't commit to a relationship until he fell for her best friend Megan. THIS IS A GREAT READ.

Denise Hunter has pinned another winner! Chloe and Liam are adorable and gave me all of the feels. Since Chloe is the author of a best seller turned movie and Liam is the leading man in the movie, I think Hallmark should definitely be grabbing the rights to this story pronto. I love how much research the author puts into her stories. She speaks from experience because she has written novels turned into movies and she always visits the locations of her books. A feel good romance novel, everyone will enjoy!

I loved watching Liam and Chloe trying to overcome difficulties and hurts from their past. Chloe felt abandoned by her father and was desperate to believe the perfect man existed—she just couldn’t find him. So, she made him up and wrote a book about him. Liam was trying hard not to become like his own father who “loved them and left them.” A couple of twists at the end set up the perfect finale for the story. Engaging right to the end!

Chloe Anderson has no use for smooth-talking, two-timing, handsome men. A string of stalled relationships and a bad break-up inspires her to write the perfect boyfriend into being. Ledger Ford, her fictional hero, captures the hearts of millions of readers and earns her a script and movie deal.

Even better, the movie will be filmed in her small beachside town, and she’ll act as a consultant. When things couldn’t get any better, her agent dropped a casting bomb on her. Liam Hamilton, Hollywood’s biggest smooth-talking, handsome, playboy flirt, won the role of Ledger Ford. To make matters worse, her first meeting with him ends in disaster, and an unwanted photo of their encounter ends up online.

Liam’s agent insists the only way to salvage Liam’s reputation and save his career is to manage the story. And what better story than a fake romance between devil-may-care Liam and squeaky-clean Chloe?

Liam convinces Chloe to team up with him to save the movie from the rabid tabloids and improve her social media following. Now, all she must do is fake a real romance. As they spend time together, a friendship forms—one that seems based on truth, although the entire relationship is a lie.

And the longer Chloe lives the lie, the more difficult it becomes to hide her true feelings—from herself and everyone else.

What I Loved About This Book

I loved the juxtaposition of a hometown girl and a Hollywood bad boy. Readers will relate to Chloe’s struggles with the aftereffects of her father’s choices and the burden of living a lie. Although he looks like a bad boy on the outside, Liam has a heart—one badly bruised by his parents’ choices. Although it’s the perfect beach read, Love, Unscripted isn’t a fluffy romance. Hunter crafts a believable story about two broken people searching for love, maturity, and lasting changes.

Denise Hunter has been one of my favorites for a long time! (Favorites of hers include Married til Monday and The Goodbye Bride). I loved this one just as much and have already recommended it to several people for their TBR list. My library has a number of patrons who prefer the gentle reads and I know this one will be popular with them. Wish this title had been better formatted for the NetGalley Shelf app.

Love Unscripted, by Denise Hunter, introduces Chloe Anderson on the opening pages. Chloe’s debut novel is heading for the big screen. She cannot believe it when the actor chosen to portray the leading man in her story is all over the tabloids as a womanizer. After a photograph of Chloe and this actor, Liam Hamilton, shows up in the papers, Chloe knows she has a problem on her hands!

When Liam’s publicist suggests that they actually start “secretly” dating to temper down the gossip, Chloe cannot believe it when she agrees. When they decide to limit the number of people who know about this setup, Liam and Chloe feel like they will be able to keep their secret safe. However, it is definitely easier said than done!

How will Chloe respond when another secret she has been protecting for years suddenly comes to light? Will the fragile relationship between Chloe and Liam survive this madness? This is definitely a tale that will keep your interest until the final page!

Denise Hunter has a way with storytelling that makes me feel connected to the characters. Chloe and Liam seem to be from two different worlds. Their hearts have experienced pain and loss. As they fake date, walls begin to crumble. Miscommunication or lack of communication plays a big role. Best friends, family, and media influence decisions. Escape to Stillwater Bay, where everyone knows you and life is down to earth, Beneath the Summer Skies. Will Liam and Chloe navigate the challenges? I think you will enjoy Love, Unscripted!

Mark this another homerun for Denise Hunter. This story is sweet. It is modern. It is everything you want in a wholesome romance. I hope to see it air on the Great American Family channel one day. This story gets five stars from me!
It is a fast read that is easy to follow. The female protagonist, Chloe, is someone you can relate to and get behind. No cursing or spice for those who love good clean romances.

Denise Hunter molds characters with real time problems, complicated backgrounds and families while letting them tell and show their own stories. I enjoy her writing very much.
Chloe Anderson has successfully published her first novel and is excitedly nervous that it has been opted for a movie and actors are being hired to play her beloved characters. She gets off to a poor start when she is deeply disappointed in the male actor contracted to play her hero.
Liam Hamilton is a bit insulted at the author's reaction to him undertaking a major part in his newest movie. He wants to prove to her that he can take on the part and do a good job. His reputation is scarred, and he needs this movie to boost his career.
I want to thank Harper Collins Christian Publishing/Thomas Nelson for my advanced reader's copy of Love Unscripted via NetGalley. This is my own personal opinion. I like Hunter's development of characters and the situations she places them in. Chloe and Liam both have serious issues that they each come to realize as they get to know one another, hatch out a plan beneficial to one another's careers then move forward to a friendship that borders on feelings that just may change everything.
I like this story very much and the secondary characters helped keep things moving along. There is a nice smattering of humor which I always appreciate. It an excellent read. There are lessons here, the first, don't believe everything that is written or said about other people.

Do you ever read a book, thinking that you know the ending, but every minute reading the story is a pleasure? This is that book! I loved this sweet story that had passion, sparks, conflict, and everything in between! I look forward to reading more from the author!

With a fresh premise and unique characters and setting, Love, Unscripted was a page turner! I really enjoyed getting behind the scenes of a movie star and a movie set. Since the author has had a number of novels turned into movies, I have a feeling she did her homework. This was a fabulous read!

Denise Hunter has written another lovely romance that pulls on heartstrings. with Love, Unscripted. Chloe Anderson is an author with a bestselling romance that is being made into a movie filming in her small coastal hometown in North Carolina. The most important character is the male protagonist, who has all the qualities that are important to Chloe in the perfect man. But the actor picked for the part, Liam Hamilton, is not that man because of his player reputation. The studio agreed to let the two work together to make sure that Liam gets the part down correctly while pretending that Chloe and Liam are dating. Chloe soon finds out that Liam is a much different person that she thought. This is a slow burn romance with lots of ups and downs, misunderstandings, conflicts, and hurts but develops into a sweet relationship. Both have a hurtful upbringing with scars, and this impedes things. The small tourist town atmosphere was written just right with the closeness of locals and fast-moving gossip. The characters are likable and realistic in a great setting. This is a deep story with a little bit of mystery in the background. Wonderful for those who love romance with a hint of faith.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts and opinions.

I always love Denise Hunter and this book did not disappoint. It was interesting to read how a book is turned into a movie. The love story was a bit unbelieveable but that’s why we read books-to escape reality. I definitely recommend this book!

Another fantastic novel from Denise Hunter! Heartwarming and fun. If you love fake-dating that turns super real, this is your book.

Chloe is an author in Stillwater Bay and lucky for her, she’s got a movie deal. They’re filming in her town. The problem is the actor cast for her hero is the exact opposite of the character and that really bugs her (and she says as much on a phone call). Liam jumps relationship to relationship and she just can’t see him playing her Mr. Perfect character of Ledger. This ultimately leads to Liam asking her to fake a relationship with him to improve his image. What happens if that fake relationship turns real? It’s a story of self-discovery, family and support systems, and, of course, romance! Coming in March 12, 2024!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Chloe Anderson has penned the perfect boyfriend into a bestseller and a movie. Unfortunately, Chloe believes movie actor Liam Hamilton is the antithesis of that man. Most of the women that Liam has dated are out for something and he rarely dates a woman more than once. The stories that the paparazzi are writing about him are affecting his image and his career. His agent proposes a fake dating relationship with Chloe to update his image. I receive a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love how down to earth Chloe is and how she starts to see the real Liam. I really love this story.

Love Unscripted, by Denise Hunter, is a fun story to read. It is well written, easy to imagine and hard to put down. While Chloe writes a book with the perfect man in mind, the actor, Liam, that plays the part is far from what she imagined. When she agrees to a pretend relationship, she is not prepared for what really happens.

I enjoyed how a normal person can write a book that quickly rises to the charts and becomes a movie. I found it interesting to real some of the facts about producing a movie as well as how a person’s reputation could affect his roles in them. I especially enjoyed the parts that tell of Chloe’s family background and how it affected her and her brother. This is a heart warming story to read that drew me in right from the beginning and held my attention to the very end.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

A wonderful story in true Denise Hunter fashion, that depicts the importance of trust and communication in a relationship. Especially when the two people have damaged pasts that have shaped every relationship they've had as adults.

What starts as an experiment to help boost Liam's online image, progresses to so much more for two adults who don't feel they're worth loving. Our family has such an impact on how we interpret love and what we deserve. The characters were soot on and the story evokes empathy in the reader.

Although I received a free ARC ebook from Net Galley and the publisher, all thought and opinions are my honest feedback.

Chloe Anderson is a debut author. She has written a book about the perfect man and it is selling like hot cakes. It has also been picked up to be made into a movie. Liam Hamilton is an A-list actor with a dubious reputation. He has been chosen as a last resort. From the moment they meet, sparks are flying. She doesn't want him on the film and he is determined to win her over. Little did she realize the bargain she was making. It was the Summer of falling in love. Real life has a way of testing you. You fail and you win. In the end, love wins

Love Unscripted
Denise Hunter
March 12, 2024

Writing a book is no easy task but Chloe Anderson releases her first book, Beneath the Summer Skies. With each day, week, she watches as the sales grow. It seems like overnight when Simone, a movie producer from LA calls to speak with her about the possible production of a film based on the book. To top it off, the movie is set to be shot in Stillwater Bay, North Carolina, her hometown. Chloe could not help but think about the players; who would be cast in the featured roles? When all the actors, directors, and many, many assorted staff had arrived on set she was excited but a bit overwhelmed about Liam Hamilton, the star who was picked to play the lead, Ledger Ford. He was quite the actor; good looking, tall, blue eyes yet a Hollywood player. She would have picked a more down to earth performer.
Love Unscripted will be published by Thomas Nelson of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Inc on March 12, 2024. I was able to read the ARC of Denise Hunter’s latest novel via NetGalley. I appreciate Thomas Nelson allowing me to read and review Hunter’s new book. I have read all of her work and always enjoyed it. Love Unscripted is a delightful romantic story that depicts the journey of an actor and writer from book to film. It shows the hassles, problems, and wonderful scenes that lead to the courtship of the lead characters. Along the way there are doubts and secrets that need to be settled. It is a fun read. I highly encourage Hunter’s readers as well as those who are new to her novels to read Love Unscripted. Do enjoy!

This was a fun read about two people from very different worlds thrown together under false pretenses. Liam is an actor and Chloe is an author whose book is being made into a movie with Liam as the star. He is cast as the perfect man that Chloe has created. Liam has a bit of a "bad boy" image breaking hearts that his manager wants to change. Liam and Chloe enter into an agreement to have a "fake" relationship to improve Liam's image and to give Chloe the creative control over the image that Liam projects on screen as Chloe's perfect man. This plan backfires on them in many different ways. This book is about forgiveness, betrayal, second chances and unlikely love. I received a complimentary copy of this book but wasn't required to leave a review.

Denise Hunter novels make me happy. I loved some more than others and this novel is definitely in the “love much” pile. There’s something about Liam that totally drew me in - maybe I was googly-eyed over his star status. Or maybe I was won over by his down-to-earth and normal personality, not to mention his swoon-worthy romantic heart though he tries really hard not to fall in love.
And Chloe is so lovable and incredibly cute. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud every time she did something embarrassing or corny. Her best friend and her brother were fun supporting characters and I wish they could have gotten their own book.

It’s a perfect beach read that will have you sighing in contentment by the end. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Thomas Nelson via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Even though I pretty much knew from the beginning what the outcome would be, I loved this book. Chloe is so down to earth and good. Liam is misunderstood and wants to be seen in a new light. I loved their first 'meeting' over the phone and the first meeting in person. So many great moments in this book. This is a sweet romance that will leave you feeling uplifted.

Review ☀️🌊👙🏝️

To give you just a taste of this adorable book…

“Where will you call home, Liam?”
“Whenever Chloe is.” ❤️

I love a good love story, and this one was so charming! Chloe wrote a book, and her best friend Mariah has it in her bookshop on the beach- (like how fun is that!) She got the call that her book is going to be made into a movie! Dream. Come. True. But she wants it to be perfect. She’s gone through a lot and she wants it to be told perfectly. They chose Liam, and actor who has been in the tabloids for all the things she doesn’t want her “perfect guy” in the book to be. Liam is a gorgeous guy, but the tabloids have made him to be out to be a flirt, and not great with relationships. On accident she says all this while he listens. Liam though shows Chloe he is not what the tabloids make him out to be. He is learning the area, reading the book to study the part, and has a lot to show Chloe who he really is. The producers think it would help the film, and his reputation (that also becomes hers now with this book becoming a movie) to fake date. So they do! They play the part, she helps him get the idea of the dreamy man she has written about. But as they begin to spend so much time together they both fall for each other. Sadly, past things get brought to the surface, miscommunication, and the tabloids come into the picture in not the best of ways. This book was absolutely adorable! A fun, lighthearted, and extremely charming love story. I have always admired Denise Hunters writing and her sweet love stories she tells.

Add Love, Unscripted to your to be read lists! It comes out March 11.

Love, Unscripted, by Denise Hunter, is the story of author Chloe Anderson as she works with Hollywood studios to bring her novel to the silver screen. Chloe wrote her bestselling debut novel, Beneath the Summer Skies, after an intense heart break. Chloe has based her leading man, Ledger, on all the characteristics she looks for in a man. It may be lofty, but Ledger is her ideal. When tabloid bad boy Liam Hamilton is given the role, Chloe is not kind with her reaction not knowing she is on speaker phone and Liam is on the call. As he has already accepted this part, Chloe angsts that he cannot possibly portray the character accurately.

When Liam arrives in Stillwater, NC, well before filming begins, he encounters Chloe in a crazy afternoon meeting and they decide to call a truce leading to an unlikely alliance to help each other. From this point a beautiful story unfolds as two improbable people begin an unexpected adventure.

Again Ms. Hunter has written a lovely book about real people finding their ways in an often unkind world. This book looks inadvertently at the negative effects of social media and tabloids and the dangers of the anonymous comments sending daggers to the hearts of real people. This is currently a very serious social problem that has been well addressed. Ms. Hunter has presented a well scripted story that I very much enjoyed and do recommend!

How exciting to have your book made into a movie! How embarrassing to have the star overhear your opinion of him. How fun to see how Chloe and Liam handle this situation. This made for an interesting and entertaining story, that I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a wonderful story with great characters. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Another cute contemporary romance from Hunter! I always love how much depth and backstory each of her characters have and this one was no exception. I really enjoyed the small, east coast town setting and how it played a part in the film. I enjoyed that the book was about film and movie stars, but it wasn't inundated with those things and was mostly focused on the character growth. Overall, a cute story about learning how to trust and love and realizing people aren't perfect.

This was such a good story. Chloe wrote a best seller that was being made into a movie. She was not happy about who they cast for the male lead. He even heard her say so when he was signing the contract. He came to her town (where the move was being shot) to get to know her and change her mind. What she didn't like about him was his reputation. Her character in the book was the perfect boyfriend and she didn't think he fit the bill. I loved how they learned about each other and their friendship grew until a story came out that she thought he leaked. It broke her heart She finally learned Liam had not done it, so she tried her hardest to correct her error.
This was a very good story that kept me quite entertained

I’ve been escaping to the beautiful beaches of North Carolina through Denise Hunter's latest inspirational romance, Love, Unscripted. Spring has sprung and Summer is on the way and I have found the perfect beach read for you my friends! Denise Hunter is releasing a new novel titled Love, Unscripted. The release date is March 12th and I totally enjoyed this story when I wasn’t too sure I would. I had to read it because I have enjoyed everything I’ve read that Denise Hunter has written.

Let me explain. I think my main hang up before diving into this book was that it revolved around the filming of a Hollywood movie. I do love a good movie and will binge watch them but at my age I’m not particularly into keeping up with the lives of all the stars. This story did not disappoint. It was Hollywood filming in a small town. You know how I love small towns so this turned out to be right in my wheelhouse.

The main character is a debut author. Sound familiar? I love to promote new authors. The author's name was Chloe Anderson and she was fresh from a breakup and wrote a novel about the perfect boyfriend. It was a bestseller and climbed the charts. Her best friend Meghan owns the local independent bookstore. This just keeps getting better. Her book is picked up for a new movie. The star of the movie is Liam Hamilton. This is where the fun begins!

This book is not all fluff. It deals with some neglect, alcoholism, abandonment, cheating and several other things that disrupt our lives and we carry with us for a long time. Some of those things shadow our lives for a long time until sometimes we are forced to deal with the consequences.

The character development was superb. It had to be or the book would have flopped. I immediately was involved in the lives of these characters and what they were thinking and dealing with. I couldn’t put this book down! Although the author describes this book as a beach read, it is so much more than that.

If you love a book that gives you something to think about, people to care about and settings that draw you in, then Love, Unscripted needs to be high on your to be read list. I highly recommend this novel. Until next time…Happy Reading!

If you enjoy a wholesome romance with plenty of swoon and characters that will appeal to your heart, you will love this book. Denise Hunter knows how to deliver romance at its finest which will pull on your heart strings. The two main characters were seemingly complete opposites, but you soon learn they have more in common than you first realized.

Chloe Anderson had her heart broken. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, she decided to pen a novel and illustrate the perfect boyfriend. She never dreamed that her book would not only become a best seller, but now it is being made into a Hollywood movie. She has a particular type of man in mind to play the part of her main character. When she learns that Hollywood heartthrob Liam Hamilton is being offered the part, she is not pleased. Liam has a bad reputation for being a bad boy. He does not fit the wholesome image of her character. She is not afraid to let them know her displeasure. She, however, is mortified to learn that she is on speaker phone with the producer and Liam.

Liam Hamilton has been a bad boy at times and has developed a bad reputation. He needs a lift to his look and this wholesome romance is perfect to elevate him back to the ranks of most loved actor. His agent and PR people decide the perfect way to clean up his image is a fake romance with none other than Chloe. They decide to give it a shot not realizing where this will end up. As they get to know each other better, Chloe begins to see Liam in a different light. I do not want to share too much, but suffice it to say that these two were made for each other.

Both characters had family issues in their past that made them the people they are today, but it had also jaded both of their viewpoints on romance in different ways. Liam's character showed the downfall of being in the public eye 24 hours a day, and how things can get twisted. His life was not as merry as it appeared in the gossip magazines. Where Liam lived in the spotlight constantly, Chloe was content to live in the shadows. The characters came alive off of the page and wended their way into my heart. This entire story was filled with Denise Hunter's signature heart which I know and love. Romance lovers will be held captive by this book until the final pages.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is your next Beach Read!

Denise Hunter was probably the first author who got me into reading Inspirational Sweet Romance. She is fantastic at writing relatable characters and giving you a tough time figuring out which of her leading men will be your book boyfriend. Maybe this means we are all a little Liam?

Love, Unscripted is a fabulous new addition to her best seller list, and if this one doesn't get made into a Hallmark movie, I will be so disappointed!

What I loved:
- Hilairous meet cute
- Deeper than you realize MMC
- Enemies to friends to lovers
- Major chemistry and big feelings
- Small town vibes
- Relationship leads to other good things

I love a good "iron sharpens iron" relationship. They are really good for each other, but their insecurity and their childhoods make the path to happily ever after not an easy one.

I smiled, I giggled, I growled... but ultimately, this Swoon-worthy read is going right back on my summer re-read list so I can revisit every awesome moment.

Content: Kissing

When it comes to contemporary Christian romance, Denise Hunter is at the top of my list. Her books never fail to completely enthrall me. Hunter’s latest, Love Unscripted, joins the ranks of her storytelling masterpieces. This book captured me from the start with its multi-faceted characters, romantic twists, and intriguing family dynamics. These elements all worked together to ensure A Novel Proposal was a quick read, yet one that would resonate in my heart.

This stand-alone novel is sure to please. Hunter penned a story that left me smiling and greatly anticipating further works.

I received this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Chloe struck gold when the movie rights to her first novel were purchased and she couldn’t wait to see her perfect book boyfriend brought to life onscreen. But she became outraged when Hollywood’s biggest bad boy player was cast in the lead role and she let her displeasure be known in a phone call with the producer who had neglected to tell her that she was on speakerphone with said bad boy, Liam, listening in. This is a romance so you may be able to guess what the outcome of this predicament will be but how Chloe gets from horrified to happily-ever-after is quite a treat to read as the author takes a familiar trope and puts her fresh spin on it. I don’t know how she did it, but Hunter managed to make Liam very three-dimensional, believable, and relatable and by the end of the book, I was pulling for him to win the girl. This book was so enjoyable and would be the ideal beach read for this summer! Highly recommend! I received an complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Denise Hunter has once again crafted a thoroughly entertaining story that is sure to pull at your heartstrings. It was easy to empathize with Chloe and Liam as their backstories were revealed. I liked both the characters and could understand how they would be a little jaded when it came to relationships. Key themes, at least from my perspective, in Love Unscripted are forgiveness, trust, and vulnerability. These issues ultimately caused the dark moment for them. Liam had a big heart and was more easily able to forgive those who hurt him, but Chloe in the end came around. Hunter tackles the power of social media in a very realistic way from fickle fans to salacious tabloid reporters who wreak havoc in the lives of prominent people. I particularly liked this aspect of the book. Hunter’s writing is superb, as usual. She weaves a wonderful story with relatable characters that you’ll want to see get their happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this one. Chloe and Liam were dynamic characters that had a lot of chemistry. I liked the premise of Chloe being a writer whose book is being turned into a movie and Liam being the star chosen to be the male lead. They have a great meet-cute and it just stays great from there. There are good side characters and stories being told with them. Highly recommend this one!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for advanced copy, and I give my review freely

This was such a fun, romantic book.  I liked Chloe, an author, whose debut novel was being made into a movie.  She seemed so realistic, flaws and all.  It was interesting to learn how her dad's secret life when she was little had a profound effect on her relationships.
I liked Liam, the actor who played the lead in her movie. He wanted to be like the character that he was portraying. Chloe was not happy that Liam had the lead in the movie because Ledger was her perfect hero and Liam was a playboy, if she trusted the gossip about him. They had agreed to fake dating until suddenly it was not fake anymore.

I enjoyed the story, the characters, the secrets, and the miscommunication.  It made the book so much fun to read.  I received an advance copy of this book and U willingly chose to write an  honest review.

Chloe's thrilled when her book is chosen to be turned into a film - until she hears who is to play the male lead. She wrote him as her perfect man, and Liam is as far from that as possible. Worse, she accidentally tells him so! Liam is confident he can do the role justice, but when the tabloids keep shredding his reputation, his agent suggests that the best option is a fake relationship - with Chloe. And she agrees for the chance to mould him into the character she pictured. The only problem? Things between them don't seem as fake as they planned, and when filming is over, he's going back to Hollywood. Can an unscripted love be what neither knew they need, or will it crash and burn, leaving them worse off than before?

This was a delightful read, full of heart but with plenty of humour too. It was hard to put down from the very start, and one of those ones where you're at once glad to see the characters get their happy ending and sorry to say goodbye to them. Liam did seem a trifle too fond of riling Chloe up at the start, but once the got to know each other, they really did mesh beautifully (though of course, it's not too straightforward a road - that would be boring!). I particularly appreciated watching them look after each other while sick - no fun, but an important part of life. I also appreciated her family's support, even if her brother sometimes needed to pull his head in (but you knew it was because he cared). All in all, a great read that reminded me of just how delightfully effortless really good writing can feel. Highly recommended.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Why I chose this book: I enjoy Denise Hunter stories. I can count on them for sweet romance with solid storylines.

Type of Book: Contemporary Christian Romance

Favorite Quotes/Characters: What a fantastic opening line: "In a world where surprises were not always the good kind, Chloe Anderson knew she'd better savor the moment."
And then there's this one: "...they can't know you until you open yourself to them and show them who you are." Ah...so true.

Overall: I love the tension that Denise is able to weave into her stories. The looks. The glances. The narrowed eyes. The questions the characters ask themselves as they grow. The struggles they recognize in themselves. Expert. The conflict rises and falls, creating fluid pacing. Here is a writing secret: know your characters so well that you will naturally have great dialogue and organic conflict. Denise Hunter has nailed that once again.

Bookshelf worthy? Yes.

Teenability: I would say this would be older-teen to adult romance.

This is a new author for me, and I must say, I really loved this book. Liam and Chloe had alot of chemistry, I found myself laughing throughout the story. I usually like some steamy scenes in my romance books, but I loved the way the author worked around how these two characters found love and gave the reader what they wanted, classy love without the heat. Great backdrop for the story, definitely kept my interest.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

Such a sweet and feel good love story. This book pulls you in from the start and doesn't let go. The storyline was really fun and entertaining. The chemistry was great between LIam and Chloe and there were plenty of charming and heartfelt moments. Beautifully written, inspirational and uplighting.. I enjoyed everything about this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley.

One of my favorite authors is @denisehunter and I will read anything she writes! Thank you @tnzfiction for my early copy of her newest novel, LOVE, UNSCRIPTED.

This novel follows Chloe, an author who is experiencing a wave of fame from her recent novel where she penned the perfect boyfriend. This novel has been opted for a film and Liam Hamilton, Hollywood's bad boy has been cast as the hero.

In this forced-proximity, fake dating novel, I could NOT put it down. I loved how Liam worked to win Chloe over, I loved how Chloe fought for what she wanted to see in the character, and I just loved the quiet, quaint North Carolina town, so far from Hollywood where Liam could be truly himself.

If you love quick, easy beach reads, you will love Chloe and Liam’s story!

This was a clean, swoon-worthy story between an author and the actor portraying her leading man in a movie adaptation. The dynamic between Chole and Liam felt real without being over the top.

Another great inspirational story by this author.
I always enjoy her writing because I feel as though I can visualize the places the people live based on the descriptions this author writes. I always feel the characters are well developed and the relationships have normal lives that I can connect with as I read. I also ennui the ending of her stories because they are uplifting and encouraging and in the works we live in today we need this encouragement.
Thanks for the advanced copy.

Denise Hunter delivers another delightful read with Love, Unscripted. A stand alone novel, Love, Unscripted is set in a small Atlantic beach town and tells the story of a bestselling book author and the man chosen to be the hero in the movie. Author Chloe has a difficult past that has influenced all of her relationships. As she uncovers more about herself throughout the story she also falls more in love with actor Liam, who is playing the "perfect book boyfriend" in her book turned movie. Both characters have depth to them, and we follow their journey of discovering more about themselves so that they can be more open to one another. A perfect beach read, Love, Unscripted, is a clean romance that will keep you up to the last page. Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for a free e-copy of this book. I simply adored this novel! The celebrity romance trope is a favorite of mine and this book had many of the things that make this trope one that I have so much fun reading. I loved the way Liam and Chloe connected. Their “meet cute” before they even met in person was priceless and set things up for them to be wonderfully awkward when they actually did meet.

I felt like I connected with these characters right from the beginning of the story. They were wounded by the actions of people who should have loved them forever. It impacted them and did end up causing problems for their relationship.

I loved seeing the way Liam opened up with Chloe. It was great to see them together, actually enjoying themselves and connecting with each other. I rejoiced with them in moments of happiness and my heart hurt when theirs did.

I loved this book from start to finish. It is now my favorite novel by this author and these characters are ones that I can’t stop thinking about.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Denise Hunter has been one of my FAVOURITE authors for years and any new release from her immediately jumps to the top of my TBR list. Her books never disappoint, and Love, Unscripted is no different! It is a light, heartwarming read, but engaging enough to want to finish the whole book in one sitting. The characters are well-rounded and believable, with their own struggles and flaws. Chloe Anderson is a small town author, whose bestselling book is being made into a movie starring Hollywood bad boy, Liam Hamilton. I LOVE a good fake dating trope, and the author absolutely nails it here. Highly recommend to anyone who loves a clean, inspirational rom-com.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Denise Hunter for the complimentary ARC in return for my honest review.

Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter is a cute, sweet, and clean story that I thoroughly enjoyed, it kept my attention throughout. In order to help with a difficult breakup, Chloe Anderson writes her debut novel, one that includes her perfect man as the lead. The book is a runaway hit that is optioned for a film, but when Chloe finds out Liam Hamilton is cast as the lead she is devastated. Liam is a super hot Hollywood actor, but he also has a bad boy reputation that doesn't fit Chloe's idea of her ideal man, she feels there is no way he'll do the part justice. The story follows him coming to her town to film the movie and them working together to try to bridge their differences for the sake of her movie and his career. Much to her chagrin, Chloe finds that even though she's not impressed by Liam, there are definitely sparks between the two of them that are not easy to deny.

"Love Unscripted" by Denise Hunter is a heartfelt and captivating romance filled with unforgettable characters and charming moments. Chloe Anderson, an up-and-coming author, finds herself thrust into the world of Hollywood when her debut novel is turned into a movie. When the charming yet notorious actor, Liam Hamilton, is cast as the male lead, Chloe's world is turned upside down.
Despite her initial reservations about Liam's reputation, Chloe agrees to a fake relationship to improve his image and boost the movie's success. As they navigate the intricacies of their faux romance, real feelings begin to emerge, leading to a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected twists. Set in the quaint town of Stillwater Bay, North Carolina, the story immerses readers in a world where small-town charm meets the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. With its delightful humor, endearing characters, and engaging plot, "Love Unscripted" keeps readers engaged.
As Chloe and Liam's relationship evolves amidst the pressures of fame and the scrutiny of the media, the novel explores themes of love, forgiveness, and redemption. Despite the challenges they face, Chloe and Liam's romance is both heartwarming and genuine, making them a couple readers can't help but root for. With its well-developed characters, compelling storyline, and seamless pacing, "Love Unscripted" is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance. Denise Hunter's skillful balance of humor, romance, and heartfelt moments makes this novel a standout in the genre.

"Are you unhappy with the script then too?
He was not making this easy! Her cheeks flared with heat. "The script is wonderfully written, but screenplays are just dialogue and dry directives. A novel allows you inside the heads of the characters. You get to know their thoughts and feelings, and only then do their actions make full sense, you know? And even if he wouldn't so now, he hadn't read the darn book. He's admitted as much in Vanity Fair.
"Sound like you're trying to tell me how to do my job."
She resisted the urge to stamp her foot. "You're deliberately being obtuse. This is not about your acting skills - "

Chloe is determined that the movie adaptation of her book is going to also become a great movie. She does not like the actor cast as the male lead. At least she thinks she doesn't like Liam. But maybe how he is portrayed in the media is not exactly who he is in real life. Perhaps she shouldn't be quick to judge. Maybe starting a fake relationship with him will show his true colors. Her heart is safe. Right?
This latest book by Denise Hunter is full of snappy dialogue as well as self-evaluation. I laughed and cried throughout the book. Faith is a small element, but the romance is sweet. Family is an important part as well as lifelong friends. A North Carolina beach town provided the perfect setting.
I read an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. I wanted to read and review it.

Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter is the second book I have read by this author. And while I loved the other book, this is now my favorite of hers. It drew me right in. Probably because the first scene takes place at a bookstore. A bookstore owned by the main character’s best friend, Meghan. Chloe, the main character, has written a best selling book which is being turned into a movie, and which her friend is highlighting in her bookstore with a window display.
While Chloe approves of the actor chosen to play her female lead, she is horrified to learn that her perfect male lead, the perfect boyfriend she created, is being played by an actor with a far from stellar reputation when it comes to relationships. Not the kind of person she wants representing her dream guy.
Liam, the actor who is playing Ledger, the male lead, wants to work on fixing his image, an image that the media has really turned into a playboy worse than he really is. But, you know, that’s the media for you.
Liam and Chloe are not real fond of each other when they first meet, in a hilarious meet up. However, they come to an agreement that they feel will be mutually beneficial. A fake relationship. Liam gets to improve his image by having a steady relationship with Chloe, and Chloe can ensure that Liam portrays Ledger the way he is supposed to be portrayed.
Not surprisingly, this fake relationship starts to grow into something more through the time they spend together. I mean, this is a romance, so that wasn’t a big spoiler. But, both Liam and Chloe have hurts from their past that have affected their previous relationships, and these are things they will need to work through. Or should they even be trying to have a real relationship? I sure was rooting for them.
I loved the characters in this book, including the side characters, which also includes the cat Buttercup. The author did a great job developing them and making them real. I loved the bits of humor that were added in. I also loved seeing Chloe, as the book’s author, interacting with those who were making her book into a movie.
Even though I was already invested in the story, when the characters were dealing with the fallout of their deception I really didn't want to put the book down, and wanted to know how the author would resolve these issues.
I loved this book and highly recommend it.

I received an e-copy of this book through NetGalley and was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own honest thoughts.

Love, Unscripted is a delightfully charming story and I enjoyed every page! The enemies-to-more and fake dating tropes shine bright in this super fun read from Denise Hunter. She does a fantastic job of keeping things realistic and light, while some deeper topics pop up now and again. The characters backstories draw you into their lives and make you want to cheer them on, while some difficult family dynamics remind you of that sometimes what you see on the outside isn't all there is to a person. This story is a wholesome romance, with multifaceted characters, plot twists and a satisfying ending. Enjoyable from cover to cover!

Beach read with depth

This was a fake relationship to more, celebrity and author romance. I loved the idea of an author watching her book be brought to life as a movie! Both Liam and Chloe had flaws and blind spots, it was fun to see them grow together.

This was a sweet romance, I'd rate PG for kissing, and mention of a side character's bigamy.

What was it about Love, Unscripted that made me want to read it? Well, two things. The author, Denise Hunter, is a favorite of mine, having penned many romances that I’ve enjoyed, romances that are well-written, entertaining, and firmly full of faith. Secondly, the fact that this fictional author’s novel is being made into a movie. How fun is that?

Seriously, what’s not to love? We have a (perceived) Hollywood bad boy trying to redeem his reputation. We have an author who is, so far, a one-hit wonder… meaning her day job is working at her family’s restaurant. We have a charming beachside town… I love seaside reads! We have a fake relationship… and I’m trying to think why I love those so much! I mean, it’s basically lying on a grand scale, and it’s pretty clear what the Bible has to say about lies. But don’t we often rationalize things we know are wrong, telling ourselves this one thing is okay in this specific instance? And also, with a solid faith arc, there’s room for characters to grow. Room for their consciences to catch up with them. They have to come clean to those around them at some point, and come clean with each other. There are so many nuances that can be explored in a fake relationship story. I think that’s what appeals to me.

"Love, Unscripted" takes a heartwarming look at the enemies-to-lovers trope, pairing a small-town, hard-working author, Chloe, with the playboy male lead, Liam, who is set to star in the film adaptation of her book. Of course, they get off to a rocky start, but then plan a fake-dating scheme that will help them each achieve what they need to career-wise.

Over the course of several weeks, what starts out as a purely business arrangement starts to take on more meaning for them both as the sparks continue to fly.

I really enjoyed the story and appreciated that the romance wasn't too spicy. This has been one of my favorite reads so far this year.

Thank you to Denise Hunter, HarperCollins, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter is one of the loveliest sweet rom coms that I have read this year. Denise Hunter has long been a favorite author of mine. In this book, she remains at the top of her game. The characters in this book were immediately likable and relatable from the very first pages. I was rooting for Chloe ever since she hid in a clothing rack. I cannot recommend this book enough to readers of this genre. It is a delight! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I don't know what it is about DH books that just feels so dang relatable, but whatever it is, it's my favorite part of what she writes. I haven't come across a single one of her books, that I didn't just wish would keep on going.

A sweet story about a Hollywood hunk and small town author crossing paths that will change their lives forever, this is a story well worth picking up. I only wish I had read it sooner.

Love, Unscripted was a fun read/listen about a fake romance trope that eventually turns into a happy ever after. Chloe Anderson was dealing with a bad breakup when she wrote a book with her perfect boyfriend in it. It was a hit and resonated with women worldwide. The movie rights were quickly picked up and Hollywood is planning a major motion picture. Chloe is devastated to find out that bad boy, Liam Hamilton has been hired to play her ideal boyfriend. How could a player like Liam do the role justice. When she shares that with the producer, she is told that she is on speaker phone and Liam is there. Woops. Once she meets him, she doesn't change her mind, but will do whatever she needs to do to make the movie a success. When Liam's agent proposes a fake relationship to do both of them some good, he a nice girl to be in a relationship with, her to increase her social media following, they both reluctantly agree. As they spend more time together and share secrets, their feelings begin to change and become real. But, secrets often come out, and when they do, the relationship ends and they both suffer because of it.

Love, Unscripted is a cute romance with a handsome, swoon worthy, Hollywood hero and an introvert romance writer heroine. I enjoyed getting to know Chloe and Liam and watch their relationship blossom. The secondary characters were also interesting and added much to the story. Chloe's brother and BFF play important roles in the story and have their own little romance along the way. Secrets both bolster their relationship and almost derail it at one point, but feelings overcome and being honest with feelings is the way to go. Both characters had some hurts in their past to overcome and it is hard to deal with at times. Liam's mom is a piece of work, but she is realistic, it just made me angry. I found this a sweet story with friendship, family, honesty, forgiveness, tough love and more all coming together so that our main characters will have their happy ever after. I did a read/listen and enjoyed both formats. If you read, there are some discussion questions at the end for further thought or book clubs.

What a lovely story. Two people with abandonment issues find love unexpectedly. Chloe Anderson (and her mother and brother) was first abandoned by her bigamous father and then by several boyfriends. Encouraged by her best friend, she puts to paper her perfect man and writes not only a best seller, but one that is picked up for adaption to be made into a movie. The production company even uses her property for filming. But she's not happy with the the actor that they chose to play her hero, Ledger Ford. Liam Hamilton has the reputation as a womanizer. But as she gets to know him, she learns that the reputation was created by gossips and paparazzi. To help him and also get her own social media numbers up, she agrees to a fake relationship, but it's not long before it is no longer fake. But of course there will be miscommunications and sabotage before they get their HEA.

Nice relationship development, personable characters, strangers to friends to lovers, fake relationship. I really enjoyed reading this story.

I read an Advanced Readers' Copy that I received from the publisher via NetGalley.com. this is my honest, unbiased and voluntary review.
