THE HAMPTON HOUSE MYSTERY is a YA cozy mystery in Ellen Alexander's THE DINSWOOD CHRONICLES Series, about 4 students at Dinswood Academy, tightly bonded friends, who solve mysterious events.
It's intriguing, heartfelt, with lots of Suspense and some gentle romance. Friendship is a very strong theme, as is compassion, chivalry, and supporting the "underdog" and those in need. There's also a significant emphasis on integrity and moral justice. All in all, this is a fairly fast and satisfying read.
I really enjoyed the premise of friendship and celebration with the elements of mystery. This was a quick and enjoyable read.

This was so cute and fun! A great cozy mystery for fans of Scooby-Doo.
3.5 This was a fun YA mystery with a group of friends who go camping but end up investigating the mystery behind the house and the family who lived there. Fast read and entertaining.
This was such a good and exciting quick read. Gives off scooby-doo vibes with the investigations into the Hampton House mystery by the main characters. If you are looking for a quick mystery read full of adventure give this book a read.
Thanks for giving me this book to review. I loved the mystery of it and I couldn’t stop reading especially when she was like at a campsite and then her and her friends went to this mansion. One of the girls had a secret name that she changed because of something that happened to her in the house, and they wanted to find the mystery of you know what they were hiding that someone was watching them in the house it was just so creepy. I love the scary vibes of the book. I loved finding out the actual mystery of what they were hiding and who was watching them .
I actually thought this was written by one of my favorite authors, and realized my mistake when I went to read it. However, while this is geared more towards teens, it was actually a very enjoyable for this adult.
A haunted house mystery is always going to draw me in, and that’s exactly what this one did. I enjoyed it so much in fact that I may read the previous books in the series and future entries as well. After all, there’s always a little bit of teenager left inside all of us.
For tween and teen readers, this engaging mystery along the same veins as Nancy Drew and with a slight dose of the Scooby animated mysteries, is a great read. The fourth book in The Dinswood Chronicles finds Emma and her friends away from Dinswood Academy. They have gone on a glamping trip over the summer, where they have learned about a haunted house, whose history is too intriguing not to investigate.
Little do they know what they have stumbled upon. And when they agree to help their new friend, Sandy, who has ties to the house, the danger kicks up a notch. As they learn more about Isaac Hampton and the residents who came after him, they stumble across a secret that could prove deadly for all of them. Older readers may also enjoy the romance that unfolds alongside the investigation. Though this is the fourth book in the series, it stands alone… even if you enjoy it so much you want to go back and read the earlier books.
Mystery, ghosts, and a hint of romance awaits you in The Hampton House Mystery.
I really enjoyed this YA mystery! It was definitely a page turner and kept you wanting to read more! It has some great spooky scenes too and had me on the edge of my seat at times like "what is going to happen". It had great elements about friendship, as well as, a little romance too that is blossoming along side the investigation part of the book. This book is in a series but it's definitely a stand alone. It had Nancy Drew vibes which brought me back to my childhood and loved that aspect of the book!
Aside from a bit spooky at times, it definitely was a fun cozy read!
A group of teens are officially on summer vacation and what better way to spend it than "glamping"? What's even better is one rainy day they hear a tale of a family that went missing 12 years ago and the house they lived in is said to be haunted. What else are they to do but check out the house in the middle of the night? A scream coming from the house sets off a series of events they could never have imagined would happen on their vacation at a local campground.
This was a fun YA story. I didn't realize it was part of a series but that didn't take away too much from the story, maybe a few references but I felt like everything was explained and I never felt lost.
It was a quick read with some fun twists. I enjoyed the writing style and think it's a good start for someone wanting to get into thrillers.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me to read this for free. This was my honest review.
I absolutely adored this book.
This was a perfect Halloween /spooky season read. I loved all of the characters and the ominous atmosphere of the spooky house, the camping vibes, this story kept me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.
First off this book is part of a series which I didn't realize at first. I had a hard time connecting to some of the characters but I think that would have been different if I had read some of the previous titles in the series. That being said it was a good mystery that kept me guessing.
This book is part of an action- adventure series called the Dinswood Chronicles but I didn’t feel as though I needed to read the others in the series to know what was happening in this one to know what was going on. Much like a Nancy Drew or a Hardy Boys, we are presented with a group of teens on summer vacation when the group stumble across a new mystery to solve.
I love a feel-good, whirlwind murder mystery without a lot of risk and quite a lot of payoff. Emma, our main character, returns to the pages with her friends to help solve another mystery. This time, there is a possibly haunted house, lights in the dark, and a family that vanished in the middle of the night.
I can see this book as a Scooby Doo caper, where we are running around, hiding in the woods, and uncovering a secret plot. I had a lot of fun with it and since it does fall into the YA category, I was able to give it some grace that I may not give to an adult thriller/ suspense.
Very cute and fun and I now want to read more from the Dinswood Chronicles and further dive into the antics of Emma and her friends.
This is a YA/Teen mystery novel. It is the newest in a series. I am in love with this. It so reminds me of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys mash up. I am addicted to this series and I'm an adult!! So good.

This was a really fun read. It has mystery, romance, intrigue - it's a page turner. I think it is the second in a series but it was easy to catch up on the relationships between everyone and get the back story. This is a great middle school read, as well as an entertaining book. There is nothing graphic or over the edge but it is still an edge of your seat story. I never guessed what was going to happen or found anything trite. It was a well thought out mystery with lots of twists and turns.
I'll read more from this author.
Enjoy!
