The last time anyone in Cottonwood County, Wyoming saw Sheriff’s Deputy Foster Redus, he was bloody, cussing, and driving his pimped-out pickup into the November darkness.

Banished to a small-town Wyoming news station to fulfill the remainder of her contract, Elizabeth “E.M.” Danniher is trying to put her messy divorce behind her and make the transition from investigating high profile crimes to investigating faulty toasters. When a young girl begs for E.M.’s help in proving her father innocent of a murder, E.M. finds herself back on the crime beat and in the crosshairs of a killer.

Arrested for the murder and released for insufficient evidence, rancher Thomas David Burrell is living a nightmare. Without a body or a crime scene, he’s got no way to prove his innocence. His ex-wife has refused to let his daughter visit. The entire county still suspects him of the crime.
