D.P. Conway is the writer of "Home for Christmas" one of the 5 books in The Christmas Collection. This time, we meet Jake, a writer who is about to meet a cast of extraordinary new friends.
The story, as its title mentions, takes place in one of many people's favorite seasons: Christmas, in a picturesque and enigmatic city, where extraordinary things happen.
I really enjoyed this reading, since it is an easy read and the author's writing style is very dynamic and eloquent. Also, another thing that I liked is that the collection of books does not have a specific order, the reader can start with any of them.

This short novella was the perfect mix of hope, happiness and Christmas. Small town Christmas holiday in fact. It's part of Conways Christmas Collection, book 5. They do not have to be read in order, they are very much stand alone.
How Conway can keep coming up with storylines along the same lines of The Ghost of Christmas to Come and Twelve Days is great. The characters he develops are perfect for each story, and so different from one story to the next.
This is a quick, cute, hope filled Christmas time novella. I listened to the audiobook and it was perfect for the holiday time travel companion.
Thank you Netgalley, D.P. Conway, BooksGoSocial Audio for the chance to listen to this amazing tale for an honest review.
I am really enjoying this series. This book has a great twist at the end. I cried, laughed and enjoyed everything. I liked the narrator.
This was the third book I listened to by D.P. Conway. I just loved all these characters. Narrator Steve Corona did an awesome job in performing all the characters as well. This story would definitely make a great Hallmark movie. I highly recommend this audiobook.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for allowing me to listen to this ARC for my honest opinion.
I'm not crying! You're crying!!
This was very different, and packed quite a huge punch for a little novella.
This is book # 5 in D.P. Conway's Christmas Series.
And no, you do not have to read them in order.
Jacob's life is literally falling apart.
He drinks.
Too much.
His wife is leaving him.
He is an author, but has not written for years.
While all of this is happening, he discovers that he has inherited an old home, from a distant relative. Being as he has NOTHING ELSE TO LOSE, he goes to see the place he has inherited, in hopes that he can sell it and use the money from it to pay off some of his debts...
AND, now the story begins...
As Jacob meets the townspeople, he is transported back in time, and meets many people who will ultimately change his entire life!!
As well as the story of his ancestors, who happen to be very well known in this small town!
Although I had an inkling where the story might be going, I had absolutely no idea what I was actually in for, and that made it all the more sweet!
If you haven't read this series, please consider giving it a chance. They are all individual stories, and sweet, and sweetly told!
Thanks to #NetGalley and #BooksGoSocial for an ARC of the audiobook which has already been released.
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me, as it brought so many beautiful emotions to the surface, and hit so many soft spots for me! As I said, huge amount of grit for a short little novella!

I love the Christmas vibes of this cover. I was sad to have this series end. I have really enjoyed them. This one is one of my favorites. I loved how there were a few stories that intertwined. Big Rosie is the best. I wanted better for Jack from the start. I teared up a bit. It was just so heartwarming. This was perfect for the Christmas Season. Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
DP Conway is an amazing storyteller. This holiday story is created with so much thought, heart and mystery. I received this audiobook for review. I am so pleasantly surprised. Check out the rest of his well created tales. You will be talking about them for years to come.
In this town people are not quite what they seem.
Jake is a struggling writer who needs to fix his life. His wife has left him, he owes tax money, and has developed a drinking problem. Now he is traveling to sale a house he inherited because he needs the money. When he gets to Sandusky where the house is located, he finds a mystery about his ancestors and the motivation to change his life.
I loved Home for Christmas by D. P. Conway. I was invested in the mystery of who Helen and Rosie really were as well as how Jake would change. He made mistakes along the way but he wanted to know more about his great grandfather and Captain Bradley Butterworth. This interest was enough from him to begin to find peace with himself. I think this was my favorite thing about Home for Christmas. It was about going home but always about finding peace.
The narration for the audiobook really brought the story to life and was well done.
Thank you NetGalley and BookGoSocial Audio for a copy of the auidobook.
Heart warming holiday Story with excellent pacing and narration. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook
Home for Christmas by DP Conway was a hope-filled story of an alcoholic who turned his life around when he went back to his roots and started over again.
Jake, the protagonist of this story, just could not catch a break. His life fell apart before his eyes, leaving him homeless, unemployed, and alone on holiday season. He blamed this stint of bad luck for his needing just one more drink. When he received word of his inheriting a property, he decided to visit that town and to sell the property to pay off huge debts to the IRS that he had accumulated, after writing a book and not understanding tax law.
Once in the area, he rented unique quarters, and got to know people around the town. I loved reading about the quirks and special qualities of these individuals. I won’t say more, as to not give away any spoilers.
This story left me in tears of happiness and hope, and I know that it will do the same for others who read it.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for this audio ARC!!
Home for Christmas is not your typical Christmas story.
This book is about Jake Butterfield a struggling writer who knows he drinks too much. He finds that he's inherited an historic house that is somewhat run down. The small town where the house is located is friendly and happy to help him. Except for a bad guy who is trying to steal the house out from under him.
Many of the characters are dressed and speak in unusual ways. As Jake reads up on the history of his ancestors and the house, he becomes more intrigued. There is certainly a mystery to learn more about.
I listened to the audio version and the narrator was excellent.
D. P. Conway expertly weaves a story of redemption with a twist of mystery. I loved this unique Christmas story. The characters are real and their struggles make your heart ache for a better day for them. I had difficulty pausing this audio book because I just wanted all the puzzle pieces to see the whole picture. The twists, turns, and big reveals give you all the feels!. I loved the ending and was reminded of my own “Rosies” that have helped me along my journey.
Such a wonderful story! I love historical fiction and love the fact that some of this story takes place in the past. I would highly recommend this to all my friends! Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for my copy of Home for Christmas by D. P. Conway Narrated by Steve Corona in exchange for an honest review. It published November 2, 2023.
First off I thought Steve Corona did a very good job!
I found this story to be very heartwarming and definitely one of Conway's better stories in this series! Perfect for Christmas!
I really liked this story, I just wish we got a little more from the ending. I like the plot and concept of the story. It took a while to build up, but it was great.
Narration was well done. Listened at 2.0x without problem.
Shortly after Jacob's marriage falls apart for good, he moves to Sandusky, OH to an inherited estate. The small town embraces Jacob as he works to find new stories to write about and makes connections with people who see him for who he is and accept him just the same.
A good, heartwarming story about enduring bonds, righting wrongs, and the kindness of the human spirit.
Overall: 4 stars
I'll tell my students about: alcohol, death, brothel, supernatural

Such a heartwarming story! We have a writer who is carrying a lot of baggage, a small town that allows him to share it, and discover (with us) the true meaning of Christmas. Great choice of narrator too!
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version.
I really enjoyed this novel a lot. The ending took a turn I honestly didn't expect at all. This book takes place during Christmas and I was happy that they had Christmas themes throughout the book. I am shocked this year with how many books this year I have read for Christmas don't even mention anything Christmasy! Highly recommend. It is a short story so you can listen to it in 3 hours or so.
Home For Christmas: The Christmas Collection
DP Conway
Jacob Butterworth is down on his luck: he owes the IRS a lot of money, which he doesn’t have, his wife is fed up with his drinking and told him its over, and he’s an alcoholic. He receives word that he has inherited his Great-Uncle Captain Bradley Butterworth’s estate. He arrives in Sandusky, Ohio to settle the estate. The lawyer handling the property offers to purchase the property, “out of the goodness of his heart.” Jacob asks for $20,000; the lawyer hesitates and tells Jacob the property is in bad condition. However, the lawyer will meet Jacob’s demand the day after Christmas.
The people in Sandusky befriend Jacob. He’s never had people treat him so nice. Jacob is a writer but lately he hasn’t been doing so well. He starts researching his Great-Uncle and it reawakens his writing instinct. While staying at the Inn he meets Big Rosie and Helen the maid, Sal the bartender, Tom the priest and the library women.
This tale would make a great Hallmark Movie! Mr. Bixby is sort of a Scrooge but a lot worse. Jacob didn’t seem to realize he was an alcoholic. Big Rosie and Helen…well you’ll have to read the book to find out more about them. This is a very touching Christmas story. I really hope someone from Hallmark is listening to me, I want to see this as a movie!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy for review purposes. My reviews are my personal opinion and always unbiased.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Home for Christmas by D. P. Conway, an audiobook narrated by Steve Corona was a sweet little Christmas story. I don't know why but it was hard for me to connect with the narrator, I constantly felt that a female voice would be better. I believe that's why I struggled a bit to get into the story.
I loved the message that this book delivered - change is possible, just don't give up!
I definitely recommend it to everyone who loves Christmas stories.

Awww I love this on so many levels. ~
I love Christmas,
I love to read – favorite genre Mysteries
I love a good audiobook – one with a great narrator is even better
So an audiobook Christmas story that is a magical mystery was perfect!
"Home for Christmas" is Book #5 in D. P. Conway’s – ‘The Christmas Collection’.
This story features Jake Butterfield a struggling writer who knows he drinks too much. He recently found out that he is the heir to his Great Uncle’s home. So is heading to Sandusky, Ohio.
Jake however finds himself in a magical little town.
He immediately meets a group of extraordinary people who become friends.
I just loved all these characters. Narrator Steve Corona did an awesome job in performing all these characters. Not sure if he is the narrator in the other audiobook but he is great!
As I mentioned this is fifth in the series. I have read one other and found that the order doesn’t manner they are not sequential. In fact, I high recommend reading this first!
I am hoping Big Rosie turns up in another Christmas Collection story! 😊
BTW:
~I grew up in West Virginia and one of the great amusement parks was Cedar Point located on Lake Erie near Sandusky. So Sandusky was a place we wanted to go however never visited the little town. ~
Author D. P. Conway lives in Ohio so no surprise he picked Sandusky for this wonderful story. 🎄
Want to thank NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for this audiobook which was released November 2, 2023.
It took a moment to get into the book, but it turned out to be a really good "true meaning" of Christmas book. The way the story is written you're able to picture the scenes, and connect with the characters. It is a very heartwarming book that is a great quick read for the holiday season.
The story starts off with a struggling writer at Christmas time, who visits a quiet little town. Through a weeks time, he meets several people from the town who not only impact his life, but he also has an affect on theirs.
Although it is a part of a collection, you do not need to read the other books prior to this one.
This book was for a mixed bag for me. It took a min to fully get into gear with the story. But when it finally got going, it got going. A story of loss, forgiveness, alcoholism & recovery and learning history. And of course Christmas mixed in.
The narrator was perfection for this story. The way his voice rose and fell with the story. Giving each character their own voice and painting a picture.
A solid read of 4 stars.
Thanks to the folks at NetGalley for an audio copy of this book. My review is a honest reflection of my feelings towards this book.
When Jacob Butterworth pulls in to Sandusky he is having problems with his wife and it’s all due to his drinking when he checks into the Valdamere in he is given a room and although cozy he has no idea how this day will change his life. He’s going to research his ancestors life Captain Bradley Butterworth it is a week before Christmas and he wants to sell his great great great grandfather Bradley’s home do a little research and get back to his life but he will not leave the town without being touched by its magic. While staying at the Inn he meets big Rosie the maid Helen Sal and his wife who runs the bar downstairs there’s a villain name Mr. Bixby the nice priest name father Tom the ladies at the library and so many more special people and before it’s over not only will his life be touched but in the end he will have an affect on others. I know this isn’t the best summary but didn’t know how to write a review about the sweet Christmas story this is book 5 NDP Conways Christmas stories and I am loving them and can’t wait to read the rest. I want to think the author books go social and Net Galley for my free audio arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
This is a short and sweet Christmas story. I’m not religious so maybe not the target audience for this author, but it was still an enjoyable story to listen to.
Steve Corona did a good job narrating the audiobook.
