Description

NEW FROM INTERNATIONALLY PUBLISHED NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR

Mark Cheverton has written 28 books, with over 2 million copies in print.

When Cameron returned to Camp Pontchartrain, he expected to have a peaceful summer without terrifying monsters from another world trying to destroy everything he loves . . . he was wrong, dead wrong.

Shadow-wraiths from Agartha have crossed over to Earth and are executing an evil scheme, starting with abducting Cameron's friend, Jessie. Because of last year's battle with Malphas and his monster horde, everyone thinks Cameron is a heroic figure who can easily save Jessie from the clutches of the terrifying wraiths, everyone, that is, except for Cameron. His anxiety, or his Beast as he calls it, is still very much a part of him, filling him with fear and uncertainty. But Cameron knows, he has no choice. He must save his friend, even if it costs him his life.

With his friends at his side, Cameron will journey across the swamps of New Orleans, confront an army of alligators, battle against shadow-wraiths, and watch a dear friend perish before he finally reaches his goal, the Swamp of Forgotten Souls. At the Swamp, Cameron will be forced to confront his fears and failures in order to use the Earth-magic he desperately needs to save all his friends.

But does he realize Malphas is watching from the Void and waiting for Cameron's failure?

Just like in Facing the Beast Within, Cameron must confront his anxiety, his Beast, while fighting an army of Shadow-wraiths in a hopeless battle to save his friends.

Buckle up and get ready for a thrilling ride.

While writing this book, Mark used the anxiety-coping strategies these mental health professionals use with their patients and wove them throughout this story. This is an immersive, exciting fantasy story with monsters, magic, and epic battles, but might also offer a little anxiety relief to those in need.

Mark Cheverton once again delivers a spellbinding Middle Grade Fantasy. The narrative resumes with Cameron's return to Camp Pontchartrain, anticipating a peaceful summer. However, the arrival of malevolent Shadow-wraiths from Agartha disrupts his plans, leading to the abduction of his friend, Jessie. Despite the perception of Cameron as a hero following his previous battle with Malphas, his internal struggles, or the "Beast" as he refers to it, persist. Filled with fear and uncertainty, Cameron embarks on a perilous journey with his friends, facing alligators, shadow-wraiths, and the Swamp of Forgotten Souls. Cheverton skillfully weaves a tale of courage and friendship, compelling readers to join Cameron as he confronts his deepest fears to save his friends, all while under the ominous watch of the malevolent force, Malphas.

Hold onto your hats, kiddos! Mark Cheverton is back with Cameron and the Shadow-wraiths, and it's like jumping into a fantasy rollercoaster with a side of marshmallow fluff. Right from the get-go, you'll be hooked into Cameron's world, where peaceful summer plans turn into an all-out monster mash with Shadow-wraiths straight outta Agartha. I mean, who knew summer camps could be this wild?

So, here's the deal – Cameron's got the weight of the world on his shoulders (literally) as he battles gators, shadows, and his own inner Beast to rescue his pal Jessie. This book is the definition of nail-biting, heart-pounding, and laugh-out-loud fun. Cheverton's storytelling is so electric; you'll forget you're not actually traipsing through the New Orleans swamps with a bunch of fantastical friends. If you're up for an adventure that mixes courage with a touch of the absurd, grab Cameron and the Shadow-wraiths ASAP – your inner adventurer will thank you!
