Just a gorgeous book—I’m not unfamiliar with the concept of reusing kitchen scraps, but I’m guilty of not doing it as much as I’d like to. I think if I had this book it would be a great reminder. Author Katie Elser-Peters presents her examples in such a wonderfully simple way complete with photographs that any beginner could easily follow her directions, and more seasoned food recyclers will just love to follow along. A definite recommendation for me and I look forward to the release of the finished copy.

This is a book I will definitely look out for! It’s so informative especially for today.
I wish more people would willing to learn how to grow and not waste foods. And now that this book exist we can take food already bought and turn it into more food!!!! This is the coolest book ever!!!!!!!

Fantastic! I am a keen gardener and aiming to get as close to zero waste as I can.

This book will help anyone who wants to work on both - minimise waste and effectively grow free food - it’s a win all round.

I have read lots of gardening books and websites that use jargon or assume a certain level of knowledge, even when written for beginners. This book is clear, explains everything and uses photos to show each stage.

I can’t wait to get started!

This book is perfect for me! There have been too many times when my potatoes would sprout or stems would grow in my onions and garlic. Now, I will attempt to regrow vegetables.

as a homestead mama, this book was so helpful for me and my family. it helped me utilize the scraps i have at my home that i always end up chucking in the garbage. i hope this book encourages more people to grow their own food and stopped replying on bio-engineered ones that we have in stores.

The pictures make everything make sense! As a novice gardener, I didn't know I could make one trip to the grocery store and grow my own stuff indefinitely. What a great way to help with the budget in a healthy way.

This book is a wealth of information, especially for the beginner zero-waste kitchen gardener. The tips and tricks for force-starting garden fruits and vegetables were fascinating and easy to follow. Many can be started in your kitchen. I wish there was more information on composting, but there is enough information to get you prepared. I would highly recommend this book as an addition to our collection. It will complement our zero-waste, recycling, herb-growing, and vegetable gardening titles. Well written.

This book really made me want to save all my kitchen scraps and start a garden! After a few failures and regrowing store bought vegetables, I had given it up, but this book helped me figure out the mistakes I was making and I’m ready to try again. What a fantastic resource! This book is going to help so many people save money on food. And healthy food at that! Wonderful!

“Kitchen Gardening” was a bit confusing as a title, but “regrowing food from kitchen scraps” is a bit of a mouthful.
Whether you are looking after your pursestrings or are a closet scientist, this book is full of advice (and lovely pictures) on how to make your food plant purchases last that little bit longer by sticking them in water or soil and watch them re-emerge. You can grow lettuces, herbs, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, celery, fennel and more from your kitchen scraps with little or no tools and just a bit of tender loving plant care.

An excellent introduction to using food scraps and growing more sustainably fruits and veggies. There is advice for a variety of foods, and as someone who has wanted to start living more environmentally friendly and sustainably (as well as saving some money!) this is an excellent starter guide. It doesn't presuppose any level of knowledge so perfect for beginners who have never re-planted like myself! Highly recommend.

This is an extensive guide to growing your own vegetables. I found the instructions to be easy to follow and understand.

This is a good book for reusing kitchen scraps for growing food and comp0sting food. There are many good ideas and suggestions. I would recommend this book for all home gardeners.

What a fascinating and informative book for me. Described as a beginner’s manual for indoor re-growing of vegetables from scraps, this fits my skill level., even though I have done extensive outdoor vegetable gardening. Other than trying to sprout avocado pits into plants as a kid, though, I was not familiar with the process or possibilities of kitchen gardening. The wonderfully detailed color illustrations include explanations of plant botany, then individual techniques for each vegetable and growable included: onions, potatoes, celery, carrots, radishes… but also microgreen growing, which I have long wanted to learn about. Lentils, along with sunflower and sesame seeds are some suggested for these. The clear step-by -step procedure make the book kid-friendly. I can imagine rewarding family activities resulting from using the booK.

I'm not sure what I was expecting from kitchen gardening but this was beyond my expectations! I love the engaging photos that help us understand what everything should look like. I also love that so much of the book is about minimizing waste and maximizing savings and re-using things that would otherwise be thrown away. I think this would be a great addition to a public library and especially for any environmental groups or clubs. If I had a bigger high school library or if we had an environmental club I would definitely add it! I recommend!

What an excellent book Kitchen Gardening for Beginners is. Elzer-Peters details how to take our bought fruit and vegetable scraps and regrow them saving us money in the long run and reducing waste.

Full of easy to follow instructions and clear pictures so we can understand the process for the different types of plants

Wow! I learned so much. I can’t wait to purchase veggies, fruits, etc.. and learn first-hand. Waste is a huge problem, and I love the author’s tips and simple ways to reduce waste at home. The pictures are very pretty as well! I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.
