As a fan of the comics, I am really impressed by this book. It contains an array of colorable moments from the comics for all skills levels. I love how the book incorporated the comics to show where the drawing came from, within the the context of the story!
I love colouring so I was really excited to explore this colouring book, full of cute images and would be great as a physical book.
This coloring book is very well planned out. The graphics are beautiful and it is a blast to color. Each page has a colored version and a non colored version. This allows you to have as much creative freedom as you want. I like this option because sometimes I like to color based on what the colors are supposed to be and sometimes I like to be more creative and think outside the box. This is a must color and a fun activity.
I love this one. The colouring pages come in different levels of intricacy, so the book is suitable for both beginners and more advanced colourists. I love the drawings; they are super adorable.
Literally such a cute coloring book! I can’t wait to be able to color these myself! I loved all the pages that were picked, though the style swap was one of my favorites!! Absolutely adorable, will be gushing about it to friends!
I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
YESSS! I needed this book so badly, and I am so EXCITED that I got the chance to read it early thanks to Netgalley! And I NEED THIS BOOK in real life now. Guess I gotta get some markers/coloring pencils as well because well, I don't have any at this moment. I really LOVED this colouring book, love that you get an example on the left side (often a comic) and then on the other side you can colour on your own (love the extra sound effects/bonus effects). There were tons of cute scenes and while I am a bit sad that the eyes were just black (I was looking forward to colouring them), the rest is just great! So many great scenes, some really cute ones! I cannot wait to get Nerd some fun colourful hair and Prep/Goth some fun clothes~ Plus, I cannot wait to add more effects to the colouring pages. EEP! I look forward to it so much. I would definitely recommend this one for all fans of Boyfriends! This is a great addition to the series.
Boyfriends is one of my favorite webcomics to ever exist so I just had to preview the coloring book! This is exactly what I expected from refrainbow! It's pulled directly from the comics and some of the scenes giving you the colored version to take inspiration from! It looks easier for people who just want to draw for leisure, as it has simple lines and doesn't have too much detail
Boyfriends is a comic about a gay, polyamorous relationship and their daily lives. I love the polyam and trans representation (as someone who is polyam/trans) and the dynamic of the relationships are adorable. I would highly check out the series if that sounds appealing to you.
Adorable coloring book full of representation for the lgbtq+ community! 4 characters in a polyamorous relationship. Most pages have some colored in scenes, as well as pages to be filled in by the reader! I loved how simple and kawaii this coloring book was! It offered the ease of just relaxing and escaping reality, while also offering little bits of dialogue and context within the scenes! Definitely recommend!
All the vibes!
I just love this colouring series!
I would highly recommend you to read the series as well!
You will absolutely love this book if you love colouring and lots of fun amazing characters.
Thank you, Walter Foster Publishing, for the advance reading copy.
One of my favorite comics getting a Coloring Book?! OMG YES!!!!
I love these boys and enjoying that the official art is also included!
When I requested this book, I didn’t realize it was a coloring book connected to an actual series! I guess I didn’t put two and two together because it seems really obvious now. However, I can say that you don’t need to have read the series to enjoy the coloring book. I don’t know about anyone else, but this coloring book makes me want to pick up the series and read it!
You also don’t need to read the series to enjoy this coloring book. I really like that on one side, we get panels from the story, and the other side is one of the panels or the same single panel ready for us to color however we want. I really liked this format and thought it was fun because we get the artist’s choice of colors and then we get to do our own thing. It’s really fun! Now I’m ready to check out the series and then buy this coloring book and add it to the coloring books I have. I really enjoy them because it’s a nice and simple way to relieve stress and have fun.
Poly and trans representation are so rare in the media, so I am very glad to see both being portrayed in such a wholesome way! I really like how this webcomic features four people in the relationship; it's something I haven't seen in other books or media, and I feel like it's truly unique. I like how each page showcases something different about the characters' dynamics with one another. Additionally, as a pastel fanatic, I really loved seeing the pastel-color themes in this coloring book
So precious! Love the webtoon and this coloring book. I do wish it were in a different format when downloaded. Adobe Digital Editions sucks.
The Official Boyfriends. Coloring Book is an appealing coloring book based on the popular webtoon with 46 double page illustrations to color. Due out 9th April 2024 from Quarto on their Walter Foster imprint, it's 96 pages and will be available in paperback format.
Each of the 46 coloring pages is faced by a pastel 4 color print of the same illustration colored as it was in the webtoon. The pictures are fun and show the 4 different characters in various activities like playing video games, skating, eating, and interacting. The illustrations are appropriate for all ages (there are a few kissing illustrations, but not many, and they're quite chaste).
It should be noted for readers who aren't familiar with the webcomic, that the characters are all boyfriends with one another in a polycule. None of the illustrations are titillating or inappropriate. They're just cute and colorful. The author/publisher have included some QR codes with weblinks to the comic for readers' convenience.
This is a refreshingly open and happy representation of nonconformity and gender expression. For older/conservative readers who are willing to read with an open mind, it could be a good basic explanation with an appealing and entertaining plot.
Four and a half stars. Sweetly romantic, innocent, and with an appealing almost retro vibe (although one of the characters is goth (and trans, and ace), and it's set in the modern day).
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
These webtoon Coloring books are so well done, they have stripes from the graphic novels they are made from as well as really nice art that goes with the coloring pages. I really enjoyed reading and looking at all of the images in this book.
I read this webtoon on my phone while I'm waiting for my laundry to dry, while I'm in line to buy something at the store, and even when I have nothing to do as a form of self care. Getting an official coloring book? SIGN ME UP
Ahhhh! I am so happy that Boyfriends is getting so many physical publications! From the physical volumes of the WEBTOON to a coloring book to a drawing guide?! As a fan of the series, I am just overjoyed it's getting such fantastic exposure like this. And especially since I collect the physical volumes and am creative, I can't wait to purchase a copy of the coloring book & the drawing guide to work through and also display on my book shelf!!
This being a coloring book review, it will more than likely be a little shorter in length than a standard book review but I want to share what I loved most about it! Refrainbow & the WEBTOON team did such a great job with this. Similar to another WEBTOON I love ("Morgana & Oz" by Miyuli) that also seems to be getting the same type of publication treatment,
Flipping through the pages, I was really happy with the variety of art featured, as well as their B&W page counterparts for coloring! I think the way this book was laid out made so much sense to me as a fan of the series. Showing how Refrainbow envisioned a particular art piece and then opening up the space for the reader to either follow his coloring style or choose their own.
I'll conclude this by saying Boyfriends is THE cutest poly boyfriends couple out there and you should be reading their story because Refrainbow did a fantastic job with it. Can't wait to pick up my copy!
A cute compilation of illustrations from the webcomic! I remember seeing a lot of these illustrations used to promote the comic, and I like the layout of this coloring book. I like seeing the original version on the left so that I can try to recreate it on the right. The coloring style is simple and easy to imitate so there's not too much pressure when you make a "mistake"
I've seen this comic online and was obsessed with the art style so I can't wait to colour in the pages myself! Definitely 5/5.
