This book was fast-paced, full of adventure and action-packed! It was also a great introduction to our two main characters, the heroes of this series. I get the feeling we haven't scratched the surface as far as Maegwin and Rovann are concerned. Both characters are so complex, I don't know what to make of them. Just when I thought I had them figured it out, BOOM! It was over.
This is exactly the kind of fantasy novel I love--strong but mysterious characters who must work together in the toughest of circumstances. Can goodness and the Elements overcome the power of Chaos? Maegwin de Romily (Sho-La Priestess) and Rovann de Lacey (his majesty's First Mage) both have hidden pasts and mixed motivations and abilities.
