My Journey West

This book chronicles how a passion for flying shaped my life. Flying gave me a focus and a skill set that opened many doors, provided frequent opportunities to meet legends of aviation, famous celebrities and world leaders.

At the height of my career and in the prime time of my life, I experienced a horrific crash in a jet plane with a miraculous survival in the ocean and an extended rehabilitation and recovery, with the determination to fly again.

After retiring I experienced a rewarding five years as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight. During one of those mercy flights a angelic poem was written by the accompanying sister of my patient who was fighting breast cancer. She titled the poem,” Safe Within Their Fold.” Having never written a poem before, she claimed that without a doubt, the verses came from God. The poem became the motto of the nation wide Angel Flight organization.

Many other adventures some humorous and some life threatening are more than enough for one lifetime. Now, with my career behind me, I begin my journey west.
