In a small Cornish community, Meryan confesses to the murder of her husband in an attempt to protect her son. Only to eventually discover that he was innocent all along. Others in her close-knit community however, were not...

This book has an interesting premise, but the story was unable to entirely deliver on it. There were also some issues with pacing, though the pace did pick up in the last part of the book. The key characters are relatable and well-drawn. And the setting is used to great effect to provide some atmospheric storytelling. All in all, a bit of a mixed bag, but with some notable strengths and quite a few twists.

I am definitely in the minority on this according to Goodreads. A great story but oh so slow moving. It did pick up at about 50% and the ending was great, but so definitely skimmed to get there.

"A Mother’s Love" by Hazel Eggleton is a captivating psychological thriller that delves into the complexities of familial bonds, secrets, and the quest for truth. Set in a tranquil Cornish town, the narrative unfolds with Meryan's shocking confession to her husband's murder, sending ripples of disbelief through the community and tearing her family apart.

The author’s prose is nothing short of enchanting, drawing readers into a world where secrets lurk beneath the surface like hidden currents in the ocean. Eggleton's vivid descriptions and rich characterisations bring the story to life, making it impossible to resist becoming fully immersed in Meryan's quest for redemption.

In conclusion, this is a masterfully crafted thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the final page. With its compelling storyline, well-developed characters, and poignant themes, "A Mother’s Love" is sure to leave a lasting impression. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and eagerly anticipate future works from this talented author. Solid four stars.

As a mother myself, this book appealed to me. I think it was done okay enough, certainly was not the best or worst book I have read so far this year. For me I spent most of my time thinking would I do this? What would I do in this situation? And perhaps that is the best indicator of the book in itself.

This was an unusual read from the first chapter. The point of view of a woman who has served time was thought- provoking. I enjoyed the setting and attention to detail. The character of Jenna was interesting as was the flawed Meryan. Would definitely recommend this action packed novel to everyone!
