Description
1895 in Butterville, Louisiana, an eleven year old boy saw something he never should have seen.
It wasn’t a hanging, shooting, beating, kidnapping, rape, or any of that; but, something else so sinister its curse has lasted for six generations. Everyone knows about the rumored curse, cause its the only place in the whole state where there's an ol' locomotive that runs backwards through the town.
Fast forward eighty years to 1975. Mrs. Devereux is a wealthy old widow who has done an outstanding job keeping the details of that event from so long ago deeply buried. That is until nosey newspaper editor Marvin Descant comes along seeking to uncover the truth about what happened with that little boy almost a century ago.
He does it under the guise of working on a feature story to celebrate the town's history for its annual founders day festival. The only problem is that no one will talk to him except one person, a woman named Sarah Anne. But, can she be trusted? What does she stand to gain? How will the truth of the past affect the present? And most of all, WHO will it affect?
This fictional story is a historical thriller inspired by a true event. It is told in dual timelines (1975 and modern day) from multiple points of view (Sarah Anne, Geneva the housemaid, and Remington the sixth generation descendant of the eleven year old boy).
