Description

Meet Sanya Singh, a girl just trying to find her place in this world we live in. An 11-year-old with a vivid imagination, a love for making bracelets, and friends.

But Sanya's world is changing in many ways. A new brother, place, glasses, friends, and more. Through friendship, family, and the magic of self-discovery, Sanya learns that the truest sense of belonging comes from within.

This is an early chapter book ideal for home libraries and classrooms for kids aged 6-9 years old. Kids would love a light-hearted story about a girl who has a strong imagination, is open to self-reflection, and thinks out of the box when needed.

Are you ready to meet Sanya?

Sanya's New Starts: A Chapter Book on Belonging by Aditi Wardhan Singh is about Sanya, a little girl who finds herself in a difficult situation: making friends in a new city and dealing with a new brother. After moving due to her parents' jobs, Sanya must begin the school year in an unfamiliar location and meet new people. Even though she quickly makes a new friend and feels more at ease, she faces several problems, like getting along with a difficult child and having a heated dispute with her good friend Tonya. Will she ever be able to find a place where she belongs? This delightful story will not disappoint you!

Sanya's New Starts follows a child's experience of adjusting to a new city, and what a challenge it is! I enjoyed how well delivered and authentic this story is as anyone who has ever been in a similar position can readily identify with Sanya. From how to deal with bullying and apologizing to displaying how resilient youngsters can be, Aditi Wardhan Singh does an excellent job of educating young readers. I particularly enjoyed the adorable small sketches on the pages. I believe Indian culture is reflected well in the story and is a lovely touch. The glossary and conversation starters, in addition to being instructive, may serve as a good group exercise for discussion and exchanging perspectives on all the key topics covered. If your child is in a similar situation, I recommend this book to help them feel seen.
