A commentary on technology and the importance of creativity and engaging in the arts. Being a different robot meant that the robot was curious and he brought this back to his friends.
Thank you NetGalley, Charlesbridge, and David Biedrzycki for the early access copy of ARTificial Intelligence.
ARTificial Intelligence tells the story of a robot who is different from the other robots around them.. While the other robots follow orders, the protagonist "Robot" dreams of colours and images. Robot runs into issues because of their daydreaming, and after an accident ends up in the real world seeing the beauty of different artforms. When Robot returns home, they introduce the concept to the other robots.
ARTificial Intelligence is a beautifully illustrated children's book that shows a protagonist who is different from others, and it enriches everyone's life when the protagonist is no longer forced to fit within the normal mold. This would be a great tool to teach children about self-love, self-awareness, and following your dreams.
REVIEW ON GOODERADS:
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange of an honest review.
Loved the illustrations and the story behind them. Our Summer Reading will be featuring art next year and I want to add this title to our to-be-read list!
What shines through this narrative is its poignant message about staying true to oneself and the power of inspiration. Through the robot’s determination to pursue his passion, the book beautifully illustrates how embracing individuality can not only enrich one’s own life but also inspire others to discover their own interests. A must-read for young minds eager to explore the depths of creativity and the beauty of being true to oneself.
Artificial Intelligence is a cute book about robots, art, learning and trying new things, and being your own person. The plot has a good flow and is concise. The book is perfect for storytime!
Thank you to Net Galley and Charlesbridge for the opportunity to read this eARC. I loved the illustrations and the contrast of the bright colors of the artwork to the grays of the robots. Robot isn't very good at just doing his work in the warehouse with the rest of the robots. When he accidentally ends up outside, his world is changed by the discovery of art. This is a great story about finding what you love and sharing it with your friends and the world.
ARTificial Intelligence is a special read that makes you think, imagine, and realize. Passion is priceless, and one must follow one's dream against all odds. This is the message delivered by this captivating short tale of a quite human-like robot. The pictures draw complete attention and the way the author has constructed sentences feels good to read. There comes a point in the story where you just want it to go on, and when it ends, you wish there were more chapters to it. All in all, ARTificial Intelligence is a must-check-out book for every child for it has the potential to unlock children's imaginative powers.
Lovely illustration and a cute story about stepping outside of the box that others like to put you in. I loved the black and white drawings with the splashes of color throughout.
The artwork was my favorite. My daughter quote “ loved when the robot could be his true self An artist”.
The book was beautifully written. The author made careful word choices that were very impactful. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it.
I thought this was an imaginative story, and I loved the illustrations. Robot isn't keeping up and gets sent to be reprogrammed, when he takes a wrong turn that ends in the best way possible.
ARTifical Intelligence is the story of a robot who is a bit different from other robots.
I love the use of colour used in the illustrations! I also thought it was fun that it showed different painting techniques and that art can be beautiful even if you don’t know what you are doing at first.
Amazing artwork. Wholesome story and message for children. Very engaging. Great way to show children about being unique and following your dreams.
What a cute story! Robot, in ARTificial Intelligence by David Biedrzycki feels a little different from everyone else and decides one day to go on an adventure to figure himself out. My kiddos in preschool loved talking about the beautiful sketches on every page and following along on Robot’s adventures.

Lovely story of a warehouse robot who discovers a love for art, and how art can make life more beautiful. The illustrations add a lot to the minimal text, and the sparing use of color against a rather dark background is effective.

This was beautifully written and illustrated. I love how the words were minimal and the art and color really told a lot of the story.
Robot is ARTificial. He is a resourceful and imaginative robot, who values being true to himself.
And the fact that he wants to help others be themselves and inspires them stood out.
Cute drawings and lovely font too.

What a fun story about a robot breaking the rules and learning to live life. It's a good reminder to be who you are.
Robot works in a factory. However he is made differently than the other robots. He gets distracted following orders and is sent to be deprogrammed. Once Robot escapes his grim life he explores the every day world. When he tries to bring the beauty of the world to the other robots they struggle to escape the confines of their programming.
This book does an excellent job of using color to highlight beauty and wonder. The splashes of color in the factory are beautiful. I really enjoyed the artwork a lot. This is a beautiful book about fighting against the places you are boxed into.
"This Robot has Big Dreams "
Since he was just a little chip, Robot knew he was different. Despite his efforts to fit in with the other robots, his daydreaming often disrupted their workflow. Following a poor evaluation, Robot was sent for reprogramming, only to discover a unique path to amazing creativity.
"ARTificial Intelligence" by David Biedrzycki explores the crossroad of art and artificial intelligence in a fun and engaging way. Through captivating illustrations and approachable language, the author highlights that AI can serve both as a tool and for creativity.
Ultimately, Robot's journey inspires readers to follow their passions and embrace what they love.
"ARTificial Intelligence" celebrates self-discovery, inspiration, and perseverance.
Ideal for curious , early elementary school readers.

AI is a misunderstood robot who works in a warehouse, but do to his inability to stay on task, he is sent to be reprogrammed. Along the way, takes a wrong turn, and finds himself surrounded by music, color, dance. This is a story about discovering the color and beauty within yourself, and I would highly recommend “ARTificial Intelligence” to all who wish to cultivate creativity in their children and students of all ages.
A robot is a failure at the job of moving boxes around a warehouse, so it is sent for reprogramming. Along the way it visits a museum and is inspired to become a great artist, painting abstracts that dazzle humans and other robots. In this unique look at AI (artificial intelligence), the message that art needs inspiration, not technology, is subtle but most readers will understand the point. The colored pencil artwork depicts the world in grayish blue except when some creativity happens and then bright color is added. A timely story that teachers can use to explain metaphor and symbolism.
