Read this in one sitting, so good! As a genre, I’d say it’s an urban fantasy - we’ve got a modern world set up full of supernatural characters. There’s politics, family dynamics, but also friendships and the spiceeeee is very on point. And it’s also part of a three books series, so I can’t wait to see what else is going to happen!
.
Thank you @netgalley and @hodderscape for the copy!

Shadowed Moonlight is an urban romantasy filled with Witches, Weres and Vampires, an incredibly hot alpha, fake dating, a smattering of spice, oh and don't forget the Supernatural Serial Killer!
It's a fast paced, high stakes read, that sinks its fangs in from the very beginning.
It's addictive, so get ready to Wolf it down 😜

The characters, Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce you to your soon to be new obsession, the delectable swoon-worthy Kane 'Come near her and I'll rip your throat out' Slade, who I guarantee is the purrfect Book Boyfriend material.
Briar is the queen of Snark and Sarcasm, her hurt is palpable and her growth through the story was brilliant as she finds herself and her strength.
My oh my the chemistry between them is off the charts, Mr. Wolfy Mcwolferson scores big on the swoon factor and spice!

Loving Kane nearly destroyed Briar once; now that he's Alpha, he could be her end.

Briar Stone has rebuilt her life after she was heartbroken and abandoned by her Were partner Kane, four years ago. She's got a job at a supernatural tavern, a Magi boyfriend, Mason, and a side-gig reading auras. But none of that matters while her younger brother is addicted to Vamp venom and a few doses away from death.

When a series of brutal murders target the city of Cambria, the supernatural conclave is sent in to track the serial killer and find answers. Briar can inhabit the dead's final, painful moments and will provide them with answers..in return for the cash to afford a cure for her brother. But first she needs a way into the conclave, her in: her Ex, now the Alpha. He agrees to give her access IF she acts as his mate during the investigation, with all that it entails.

Surrounded by the Were she once hoped to call family, Briar finds herself dragged into Kane's world of sex, danger and supernatural politics.
She has to fight her treacherous heart and the growing connection to the lover who ruined her life. Remembering she's there only to help her brother, she has a new life, a new boyfriend waiting after she's found the serial killer.
But she's not the only one seeking answers. The Killer has his eyes on her, and he may be closer than she thinks.

I didn't know while reading it that it's part of a series so I was originally a bit miffed over the story feeling a little unresolved but it makes more sense now I know it's a series. I look forward to the sequel and seeing where the story and characters goes next.

Thank you Netgalley and Hodderscape for the eARC of Shadowed Moonlight by K.C. Harper.

** spoiler alert **

It's been awhile since I finished a book in less than a day...

Oh how I've missed reading paranormal urban fantasy!

Shadowed Moonlight is a fast paced and highly entertaining read. Second chance romance at its finest. It was sexy and fun. The characters are quirky and lovable. (Lis has got to be my favorite for giving out the most perfect and smart advice. You'll know what I'm talking about when you read the book...)

Plot wise, I feel like something is missing. (Although that's probably because this one's going to be a trilogy?) I'm still a little confused as to how what's-his-name was able to do what he did on that scale. I'm still not a fan of Mason. Is there something else going on with Theo? And is there something BIG about Briar we still don't know? Or Kane? I have SO MANY QUESTIONS.

I can't end this review without mentioning the sexy Alpha were who has officially stolen my heart. Kane Slade, ladies and gentlemen. I'm just gonna say I won't be opposed if book two is sexier and smuttier. Just sayin'. Lol

I LOVED Shadowed Moonlight! I connected with the author on Instagram and requested a copy through NetGalley, and I’m so happy I did! K.C. Harper has a gift for world building. The writing really flowed well. I loved the MCs and their backstory, plus their reunion! The side characters are awesome, and hopefully we get their books as well. The book didn’t end on a cliffhanger, per se, but the door was definitely left wide open for a great series. There is some OW and OM drama, but no cheating. The open door scenes were pretty hot; I’d give it 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️ There are definitely a few plot twists that surprised me, which is kind of nice because I read so much that I’m not often surprised anymore. I’m very much looking forward to reading more by this author! Well done!

Thank you to NetGalley and K.C. Harper for this ARC of Shadowed Moonlight. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🔥 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I'm pretty sure that after reading - no, excuse me - DEVOURING this book, my heart fractured and exploded into a thousand pieces.

This book had me on my KNEES and I was absolutely begging for more. What an unquestionably, amazing story!

I'm quite beside myself and speechless but I will recover, eventually. However, waiting for the second book is going to kill me.

What a PERFECT Crescent City hangover cure. I've needed one of those for a while and I'm so happy this book showed up on NetGalley. It was not what I expected, and absolutely blew me away from start to finish.

It's not often a book or series can make me feel every emotion under the sun - especially when top tier spice is involved - but I laughed, cried, loved and was absolutely devastated while reading Shadowed Moonlight.

The characters are all worthy of emotional attachment, but Briar stole my heart, I could relate to her struggles on a deeper level than I thought I ever would and it made this experience even more memorable. I could see this series being a core memory for me and an EASY re-read series. If this ever became a dramatized Audiobook, you bet your ass I'd purchase it without a single breath spared.

And can we please get a hands up for Kane f*cking Slade?! 🙌 He is just, everything. My newest book boyfriend. Take. Me. Home! 🔥
I have sooooo many thoughts right now and they are all of HIM.

This book is a MUST READ and do not sleep on it! I seriously am already contemplating re-reading it right now because I'm just not ready to say goodbye to the characters and world while I wait for the next book. There's a hole in my soul, waiting for this story to continue ❤️

This was a gripping read, I thought the characters were intriguing and I'm going to keep an eye out for more from this author.

Shadowed Moonlight is a fast paced and highly entertaining paranormal romance, perfect for fans of Suzanne Wright and Ilona Andrews. It combines a swoonworthy second chance romance with a high stakes murder mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Briar Stone is recruited to help solve a string of murders since she has the ability to read auras of the recently deceased. Unfortunately, this means teaming up with her Were ex boyfriend, Kane, and pretending to be his mate.

I cannot express just how much I adored this book; it had everything I wanted and more! The romance was incredible had me audibly squealing at times. I absolutely loved the plot and thought that Briar was an intelligent and very capable character.

I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel!

I really enjoyed reading this book! The story centers around a powerful female protagonist, whose life was shattered by the sudden disappearance of her Were lover, Kane, four years prior. Now, facing a desperate need to save her brother, she finds herself entangled in a deadly game of secrets and betrayals, forced to work with the one man who tore her world apart: Kane. The premise is intriguing, setting the stage for a roller coaster of emotions as the heroine grapples with her past, present, and the undeniable pull of her rekindled feelings for Kane. The novel’s strength lies in its engaging plot. The mystery surrounding the murders in Cambria is gripping, demanding the reader's attention as the heroine dives deep into the world of the supernatural elite, uncovering hidden agendas and facing dangerous adversaries. The romance, however, is the true heart of the story. The reconnection between the heroine and Kane is both passionate and emotionally charged. Their past trauma and lingering feelings simmer beneath the surface, creating a palpable tension that keeps the reader invested in their journey. The author expertly balances the thrill of the mystery with the tender moments of their rekindled romance, creating a captivating dynamic. The story excels in its character development. The heroine is strong, independent, and fiercely loyal, even as she grapples with the pain of her past. Kane, while initially presented as the villain, is portrayed with complexity, showing glimpses of vulnerability and genuine affection that add depth to his character. Overall, the story delivers a compelling blend of mystery and romance, making it an enjoyable read for fans of paranormal fiction.

Briar is trying to hold it all together - building back her family's reputation, holding down a job and taking care of her addict brother. When her brother is implicated in a murder, she agrees to work for the supernatural council to solve a series of murders that is crossing community boundaries. This brings her right back to Kane - the werewolf who broke her heart and abandoned her years before. Can Briar pretend to date him long enough to solve the case.

I devoured this book - revelations kept me going, looking for the killer and trying to figure out what happened between Briar and Kane and why is blew up. If you like urban fantasy, read this!

I started reading this book, after a chapter or so I did loose interest and I put it down for a few days thinking eventually I'd give it another go. Well when I picked this book back up it was glued to my hand until I finished it. I found it so hard to believe that I even considered not finishing this book!

Briar as soon as you started fighting for your brother a fire sparked, from then on you were determined, strong, funny, and I loved every aspect of this story from then on.

This was an amazing read and I can't wait to see others in this series.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND PREORDER THIS BOOK. I could not put it down. The world building, the suspense, the EPIC love was captivating from the beginning. I hope to the powers at be that this author gives us more from these two main characters (Bry & Kane)

I was definitely excited to read this and it didn't disappoint.
You’ll get:
Alpha Male
Sarcastic Female Lead
Second Chance love
Touch her and 💀 Vibes
Mates

There is a murderer on the loose and it’s not just one faction they are targeting. The humans, Weres, Shadow Walkers, and Magi are all in danger. With the combined help of a magi and a were, can they find out who is behind the killings before it’s too late?

Bry, our independent and loyal to a fault Magi, isn’t the type to take crap from anyone. She has a damaged past and is determined to make her future better, she just needs a chance! The chance comes calling when she is called to the last crime scene. Bry will do anything to help her brother, especially after he is found next to the latest victim. Desperate to clear this name, while also trying to make a life that will continue to provide for his brother, she agrees to work with the newest alpha of the northern pack. Oh, did I mention, it’s her ex?!

Kane, walked away 4 years ago. No calls, no contact, nothing, just simply left. Now, he’s back and Alpha of the Northern Pack. He has more than just solving this crime on his mind. He has some wrongs to right, that’s if Bry will stop death glaring him long enough to explain…
Kane may be our strong, protective alpha but that doesn’t mean he isn’t damaged inside, the past wasn’t kind to him.

Can these two work together to figure out what’s going on before they kill each other? The past always has a way of catching up and maybe there is more to this than either of them know.

I loved it!

Shadowed Moonlight is written from the perspective of Briar, a human with magical powers who has her walls well and truly up thanks to her former love Kane (current Alpha of a nearby werewolf pack) breaking her heart some years earlier before he disappeared.

But now Kane is back and Briar is thrust back into his life, whether she wants to be there or not.

I found the overall plot really interesting and the ongoing hunt for ‘The Phantom’ (someone committing mass murder within the sectors) kept me on my toes. I also really enjoyed the twist at the end, the killer was not who I thought it was going to me.

Although at times I was frustrated with Briar not sharing details of the blackmail against her with Kane, it wasn’t enough to deter me from continuing with the story.

I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading future pieces by Harper.

Thank you for the read.

Thank you to Hachette and Hodderscape for the ARC!

Shadowed Moonlight is a refreshing urban fantasy full of surprises and spice. The main characters, Briar and Kane, have amazing chemistry, and I loved the world-building created by the author. The new interpretations of witches, vampires, and wolf-shifters was one of my favorite parts!

I LOVE paranormal urban fantasy and I was so excited to see this come out!

The pacing is so brilliant and the characters are to die for and you will feel with them. It's sexy and fun and excellently positioned.

I think I could have done with a tiny bit more plot but I loved it regardless.

I've had this book on my NetGalley Shelf for a while and why the hell haven't I started it sooner? I mean, the story extremely captivating, I wasn't hooked up straight away because I needed to understand the magic world, but it didn't take long though.

Briar is the FMC whose heart was shattered when her ware boyfriend left town without telling her four years prior. Now, Briar finds herslef helping the Conclave of her town, trying to save her brother from being connected to a murder. when Kane, her ex, returns unexpectedly. And they are now working together to find the killer.

The twists of this book were incredible. I gasped while reading most pages of the last 30% of the book. I got some of the twists but most of them were so unexpected and well thought out that made it a glorious book to read.

Even though it's the first book of a series it doesn't end in a cliffhanger, which I was grateful for, but I can't wait to put my hands on book 2.
