Description

Everything seems to be going well for Alex—she has her dream job as an intern on a popular investigative news program and is engaged to a man who is almost too perfect. Now her best friends are taking her on a surprise bachelorette weekend planned with Alex’s unusual set of interests in mind: her obsession with the famous 666 Killer.

Alex and her friends get a thrill out of staying at the allegedly haunted hunting lodge in the Catskill mountains where a serial killer once stabbed his victim and wrote 666 on the walls in her blood. Though getting snowed in by a blizzard wasn’t part of the plan, the three girls make the most of their celebration. Then Alex wakes up to find her friends have vanished, blood spattered all over their sleeping bags and on her hands. With no idea what happened, Alex worries the decade-old murder has come back to haunt them and she is the one to blame. Her recent prison interview with the 666 Killer seems to have stirred up past demons, throwing her friends into danger. The prisoner has always maintained his innocence, claiming the “real killer” was still out there. Has the true 666 Killer finally returned? Or has the convict been scheming from his jail cell? Cut off from outside help, Alex must rely on her years of following true crime stories to try to solve the case and save her friends. But even she does not see the final, staggering twist coming, and the shocking truth just might kill her.

This fast-paced psychological thriller from the author of Little Black Lies is sure to keep readers up all night.

I love Block's books and this was one of those that when you finish you may think, "Did I have a dream...or a nightmare?" Alex is away for the night on her bachelorette party with her two closest friends, Melody and Lainey. Because Alex is an intern at Crimeline, they have arranged to stay in a creepy lodge where the famed serial killer, Eric Myers committed his heinous crimes and is now in prison. But there are more surprises than any of them bargained for as Alex awakens in the basement with blood everywhere after they smoked dope and her friends are nowhere to be found! Alternating in time between now and earlier, the novel details Alex's suspicions about her fiancee, her friends, the man in jail, and just about everyone she's come in contact with in the last ten years. It's bloody, gruesome, but such a great tale that had my head spinning like the Exorcist!

This is so much more than a party/get-away gone wrong! What a ride!

Alex's wedding looms near and her friends surprise her with a haunted hunting lodge night in the Catskills. The very place an infamous seriel killer once lived. Alex has been investigating the murder as an intern for a media outlet and is completely obsessed! When the snow cuts off their communication and Alex wakes up to blood on the floor she is afraid that her worst nightmares have come true. Alex has to use all of her
investigative know how and her wits to ensure she lives through the night.

Brilliant. Spellbinding. Terrorizing. This book should be locked away in your fridge while you sleep because you can't trust any of the characters.

Three good friends drive to a surprise destination for the bride-to-be's bachelorette party. The other two gals take Alex to a VRBO where a serial killer murdered a girl. Alex has researched this story and even interviewed the suspect who is in prison because she wants to write about the case for her internship.

Block is careful about using the correct pronouns, which must be difficult because it sounds grammatically incorrect.

During the first night in the haunted house, Alex wakes up in the shower, finds her friends have disappeared, but left some of their blood behind. The vicious snowstorm outside doesn't help matters, but Alex still forges her way through the deep snow to try and get help.

I loved this book even though it was quite terrifying. Block keeps the tension rampant. A real page turner.

If I could give it 6 stars, I would!
