Adorable little book about an old man who is lonely and adopts two rambunctious, black kittens. A very cute book perfect for little cat lovers.
This is a very cute book! The illustrations are colorful and engaging for children. And the cats are adorable! Also, this book is a good introduction to owning a cat, or two, and what is involved. For example, this book shows the responsibilities of taking the pet to the vet, the temperments of cats (their mischieviousness and how they are afraid of the vacuum cleaner), and how a litter box works.
I do like the fact that the story incorporates a few possibly unfamiliar words; such as, finances, hijinks, and flocking... It opens up further discussion.
Keeping in mind that this book is geared for a young audience, I feel it is important to point out a couple of issues. This book would most likely be read to a child, but depending on the child's age they could be reading it for themselves. First, the man's computer "arrow curser" is repeatedly described as being green. A computer arrow and cursor are decidedly different things. This may sound like a little problem, but it does not accurately portray what children see in the real world. And when they see at home, or at school, that the computer arrow is white and the cursor black, that could be confusing for the child. Also, the word should rightly be cursor (not curser). Second, on page 19 the old man's beard is described as being white. It is obvious from the illustration that his beard is depicted as being gray. This may seem like nitpicking, but when young children are learning about their colors, they need accurate representation.
Overall, this is a cute little story that could have been great!

Such a sweet story about an older man who adopts a pair of sibling cats and raises them together.
The art is so cute, too!
Two Little Black Kittens is a must have picture book for cat loving families! This adorable book tells of an elderly man who brings home two sibling kittens. Their bonding as he takes care of them is beautifully displayed among the pages. It was fun as well as educational on caring for kittens. Both the storyline and artwork were top notch. I would love to own this picture book to read to kids! I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in trade for my honest opinion. My thoughts are my own.
The story is fun, but give the PDF a skip and stick to print copy. I don't really think of it as a bedtime story but great for nap time or any kind of general story time.
A middle aged man adopts a pair of kittens and they grow to enjoy each other.
The illustrations by Fab Dezines are fun, clear, brilliantly colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading alone or WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary PDF on Adobe Digital Editions from BooksGoSocial via NetGalley. Thank you!
I enjoyed this story overall. The illustrations were cute and the little black cats on the cover were what caught my attention. It’s a cute story about an old man that wants to get a little cat companion and ends up with two. It shows important aspects of taking care of two mischievous kittens like taking them to the vet, feeding them, cleaning up after them, having a space dedicated to them.
I would recommend this for kids who have a better grasp on reading on their own.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for this e-ARC.

My Opinion
It is a book about an elderly man who adopts two black cats and how life is going with them. I thought the cover and all the illustrations were adorable. It was very age appropriate for kids. Some kids may not know what an "arrow cursor" is on a computer, word choice that may be an issue. The names are also cute, parents are able to know Bonnie and Clyde. Kids see two cute names for the pair. It has very bright colors to help learn them and point them out. Overall, it is a very cute book.
Thank you to Net Galley for thise- copy of Two Black Kittens by S. E. Stanley in exchange for a honest review. This is a cute story about two little black kittens named Bonnie and Clyde who are adopted by an old man . They provide him with companionship and love and in return he takes care of all their wants and needs . This is a very cute story and reminded me of many of the hijinks my cats had also done like climbing the Christmas tree. Great bedtime read.
Fun story, and I liked the illustrations.

Great book about a lonely, old man who decides to buy a cat to keep him company. Instead of a cat, the old man ends up getting two little black kittens that are brother and sister. Would interest many young people.

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE cats. Like I am obsessed with them (all animals really), so I knew I had to read this book. It was super adorable and fun and I so wish I had a child to read it too. I know this would've been a favorite of mine if it was published when I was a child.

This book teaches children what it is like to get kittens, bring them home, what to expect when they go to vet, how to care for them, feed them and teach them no gently. I loved that the man showed such kindness and patience and love to the kittens. Great book to show how to care for pets, how to enjoy them, and the happiness and love they bring into your life.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy of Two Little Kittens. Two Little Kittens is a heartwarming children’s book about a man who wants a kitten to keep him company. He ends up taking two kittens, named Bonnie and Clyde, so that the sibling kittens would not be separated. I enjoyed how the book showed pet owner responsibilities that come with having kittens - such as teaching them to use the litter box, going to the vet, and keeping them happy with a new scratching post. The illustrations are adorable and well done. This would be a great book for a young child who loves kittens or has kittens of their own. I do wish there was more of a rescue (adopt, don’t shop) kind of message for how he acquired the kittens but I wouldn’t expect a child reading this to consider that. Overall, very cute.
This is an adorable little story about an old man who had been so lonely and decided to get a kitten. He ended up with two adorable black kittens who were brother and sister. They were always into mischief and he named them Bonnie and Clyde. Your family will love this heartwarming little story. I have a little one who loves cats and this story was perfect to tell to her. The illustrations are colorful and bright. Enjoy this fun little adventure.
This is a great book for all animal loving children. It tells of an old lonely man who gets two kittens to keep him company and the adventures Bonnie and Clyde have in his house. It teaches children the right care for animals and to respect them and captures the characters of cats very well. Highly recommended for bedtime reading!
We adopted two tabby kittens in June so I knew that this book was going to be a hit with my daughter - and she really enjoyed it!
I thought that the story was well written and it had a lovely flow to the story.
My daughter found the book easy to read and follow and she read the book in one sitting.
The kittens in the book are fun and cheeky and she loved what they got up too as well.
The illustrations are really nice and they suit the story too
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
I truly enjoyed this book! This was a great book for young children to learn about pets and companionship as well as the bond and love of siblings. The pictures are really pretty and the story will keep children interested. This is a great story for bedtime!
