Title: The Forgotten Prince by Akira Varma

Release Date: May, 20th, 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars

A banished fae prince, a human baker, and a mother's desperate sacrifice to save her child and maybe one day... her kingdom.

Anya, a baker who has worked in her trade since she was fifteen, now owns a bakery with her best friend Natasha. When they hire a mysterious carpenter to build a shed, Anya finds herself drawn to him.

This carpenter, Aleryn 'Ryn' Sinear, is the banished Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Mairene, who was left to die in the mortal lands after having his wings cut off.

Meeting Anya, however, turns his curse into a blessing.
With a target on Aleryn's head, their budding love faces many challenges. Will they be able to survive and reclaim his kingdom with the help of Anya, Natasha, and his best friend Theo?

I devoured this in one hour—I absolutely love fantasy novellas! This book was written really well, paced perfectly, and left you on a cliffhanger that made me crave more!

What I Enjoyed:

1. Anya's Character: Anya is an endearing protagonist. As a human living in the mortal world, she owns the cutest little bakery and has a heartwarming personality. Her instant chemistry with Ryn adds a delightful spark to the story.

2. Ryn's Mystery and Charm: Ryn is a captivating character—ridiculously handsome, incredibly sweet, and shrouded in mystery. His hidden past and the scars that mark him make his story even more intriguing.

3. Natasha's Loyalty: Anya’s best friend Natasha is a standout character. Her loyalty and support for Anya are heartwarming, and her POV chapters add depth to the narrative. I loved her character and her unwavering dedication.

4. Cozy Fantasy Vibes: Despite the fantasy elements, the story has a cozy feel to it. The quaint bakery setting, coupled with the magical intrigue, creates a unique and enjoyable atmosphere.

5. Clear World-Building: Even with a good number of characters and complex world-building, the story remains clear and easy to follow. This can be a challenge in fantasy romance, but Varma handles it beautifully, providing necessary information without disrupting the plot.
6. Perfect Pacing and Cliffhanger: The pacing of the novella is just right, keeping you engaged from start to finish. The cliffhanger ending leaves you eager for the next instalment, ensuring you'll be back for more.

"The Forgotten Prince" does a fantastic job of introducing key characters and setting up what promises to be an enthralling plot moving forward. I really, really enjoyed this, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series! If you’re a fan of fantasy novellas with a touch of romance and intrigue, this one is definitely worth your time.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Anya’s is a mortal baker with her own shop who just seems like an all around sweet character with a pure heart. This book had some world building that I enjoyed to prepare for the next book. I enjoyed the story and I honestly could not put this book down. I’m dying for the next book.

A quick little 3-star read, perfect for a plane ride!!

Aleryn, Ryn to those who know him, is the crown prince of the fae, hidden away in the human realm by his mother to save his life. Anya is a human baker, living with her best friend Natasha, and running a small bakery in town. When the girls want a shed built in the backyard, Ryn is part of the crew- and Anya and he are drawn together instantly, almost like a mating bond perhaps….

As a novella, this book moves incredibly quickly. The hits are there, but we aren’t getting into things too deeply. I’m hoping as the series progresses, it gives us more because I want to know so much more about Anya and Nat’s friendship, Ryn’s background, and the faerie realm!! All in all, I enjoyed it but wish it had a little more oomph- this could be great as a full length novel or just more quickly available novellas!!

Thanks to netgalley for a chance to review in exchange for my honest opinions!

I love sweet how Ryn as it shown atas sikapnya ke Anya, laki-laki berbadan besar tapi sweet itu jarang loh such a Golden Retiever nih!

Anya = Female Main Character (Heroine)
Ryn = Male Main Character (Hero)

But overall🌟🌟🌟3/5 Stars from Me! Ending ceritanya ngegantung meskipun sudah di peringatkan oleh author dari awal buku, tapi plis author kasihanilah aku yang penasaran iniii dan berikanlah aku kisi-kisi kapan next book dirilis🥺

Terimakasih The Publisher Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op ,The Author Akira Varma & NetGalley for an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review ♥️🔥

The premise of the book is different, propelling readers into a cozy loving world all based on a mothers love. The writing style, characters and world building were wonderful! I truly enjoyed this read!

This was super cute and pretty fast paced. I was surprised with the pacing and loved it. Sometimes fae books, especially if they're a series, can be really slow and takes forever to get to the point. I didn't feel that way with the forgotten prince.

"Queen Samira’s last words still rang clear in his mind. Her last order to him. I promise. I promise he’ll never see the light of Mairene again."

🌟 Final Verdict:
It was ultimately not the book for me.

I devoured this cute, fast-paced fantasy novella! The writing was excellent, the pacing was perfect, and the cliffhanger left me eagerly anticipating more.

The story primarily follows Anya, a human living in the mortal world, who owns an adorable bakery with her incredibly loyal best friend, Natasha. One day, Anya meets the ridiculously handsome and sweet Ryn, and sparks fly instantly. Though I usually don’t like insta-love, the fantasy elements and other factors made it work for me in this story. Ryn, however, is hiding a secret, which Anya discovers in the most unfortunate way.

This book also reads as a cozy fantasy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, I think "The Forgotten Prince" did a great job introducing key characters and setting up an intriguing plot. I can't wait for the next installment!

I really enjoyed the story and the pacing of this book. It was fast enough to not be boring at all but not so fast you felt overly confused about the storyline. It was a nice and quick little read.
I did, however, pick up on a few typos and inconsistencies throughout the book, and some paragraphs/phrases were a bit repetitive. I would also have liked to see a bit more about the main characters relationship developing, as it jumps from them really just meeting over a couple weeks to suddenly being 4 months in. Also the very last page has the MMC's name wrong, there wasn't an Enzo in this book. I feel that a bit more editing would've given this book a higher overall rating, but overall a nice and easy read and I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

What I loved :
The details
Lovable quotes
Quick read
Fast paced
Cliffhanger

What I didn’t like:
The writing was too young - juvenile for me
While I liked it was a quick read , the story Could have been longer to improve the issues
More editing needed

3.5⭐️ such a cute short read.
If it was a longer book it would definitely be rated higher!
Anya and Ryn are super cute, and I loved seeing how loyal Nat was!

The Forgotten Prince is a short novella about Ryn, a Fae Prince who has been hiding in the mortal word since he was a baby as his uncle seized the throne from his family, and Anya, a human baker. After a riveting prologue, the first half of this novella reads like a contemporary romance meet-cute. This isn't my particular taste in books and so I found this first half boring. Thankfully the book is short and so it didn't really last long. The second half of the book dives right back into the fantasy realm and becomes quite exciting as Ryn's past catches up with him.

This book has fated mates, mild romance, and dual POV with the main FMC Anya and her best friend Nat. I actually really enjoyed Nat's chapters and kind of like her personality better than Anya.

I did find the writing to be pretty average, but it didn't get in the way of the overall flow of the book. This book does list the trigger warnings at the beginning (yay!) and does warn it ends with a cliffhanger. I would read the second book in the series once it comes out as the fantasy action and romance is definitely my preferred genre. If you want a blend of contemporary cute romance with Fae fantasy packed into a short novel then this book is for you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Forgotten Prince by Akira Varma is a novella that tells the story of Aeryn, a fae prince who now lives as a carpenter in the human world, and Anya, a human baker.

There were aspects of the story I found intriguing, such as the description of the book which included baking and the fae, as well as the prologue.

Having said that, the book would benefit from additional editing to correct grammatical errors (such as pronoun errors), repetitive wording (example-on the first page of the prologue “chilled her to her bones” and “chilling her to her bones” were used within consecutive sentences), instances where the wrong word is used (example ”…who in their right might would make two trips to their car…” might should be mind), and to give the characters more complexity.

Akira Varma's The Forgotten Prince is a quick, easy read, that end much too abruptly. In this Reviewer's humble opinion. The story is full of fun, light heartedness between friends and loved ones, as well as some brief violence from a group of kidnappers, trying to prove they're more masculine than they really are. The vibrant storytelling, and the quick wit make the story very easy to enjoy, and the author's style of writing grabs the reader's attention immediately at the beginning of the story, then holds it like a vice grip to the very end. All of the characters are fun, and full of life, and falling for all of them most definitely not outside the realm of possibilities. Ms. Varma tells the readers book two is on the way, but honestly, book two cannot get here soon enough.

First offi I was immediately sucked in by the cover I love it. Also it's a very short read. The author added a content warning at the beginning of the book so there's that. Research the warnings at your own risk. There are a few grammatical errors in the book. Also repetitious with certain aspects of the plot. Overall a nice quick read about fairies!

This is a tough book to get through. The prologue is solid and then it loses its steam. It turns into more of a love story which isn’t what the prologue suggests it will be. I can barely finish it due to frustration of the back and forth romance that’s taking place. I keep waiting for it to get to the action. (No spoiler) The writing is good but the prologue and most of the book don’t line up.

Short fast paced fantasy with sacrifices, fae, and fated mates. Easy read, captivating and finished in one sitting. I really enjoyed the characters and the connection between Anya and Ryn. I am eager to see more of their story.

The story follows Anya who hires a construction crew to build a shed for her and her best friend. She feels an immediate pulling connection to one of the workers, Aleryn, AKA Ryn. She falls for him not knowing that he is the banished fae prince with a target on him. The other fae will stop at nothing to get to him, even go after people he cares for.

Anya, the determined baker, and Aleryn, the enigmatic prince, are both relatable and endearing. Their forbidden love, filled with undeniable chemistry and mutual attraction, forms the emotional core of the story. The supporting characters, Natasha and Theo, add depth and humor to the narrative. Varma creates a vibrant and immersive world imbued with fae lore and ancient magic. The Kingdom of Mairene and the mortal lands are meticulously described, transporting readers to a realm of wonder and enchantment. Beyond the romantic plotline, the story explores themes of sacrifice and redemption. Aleryn's banishment and Anya's mother's desperate act set the stage for a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation. While the focus is on the love story, Varma also includes plenty of action and intrigue. Aleryn, with his banished status and scars, faces numerous threats and challenges that he must overcome with the help of Anya and her allies. This imaginative fantasy novel combines an enthralling love story with an engaging adventure. The detailed world-building and well-developed characters make this book a captivating read that will appeal to fans of fae tales, romance, and fantasy alike.

I believe the author had a good plot in mind, but this novella was disappointing. I understand that novellas are shorter, but this book felt like a movie in fast-forward. There was no time to build up the characters or their relationships, and I could barely keep track of what was happening in the book. It was all happening so quickly. I feel like with more time and more detailIng this could have been much better than it was.

I really enjoyed this book had a great build up before getting into the action. The book was a very easy read even without a lot of fantasy background I think most readers will really enjoy it. Can't wait to see what the next book holds for Anya, Theo, Nat and the forgotten Prince!

First of all...I'm a sucker for an FMC that bakes. I love that her and her friend own a bakery together. That said, I was very disappointed that there wasn't a slow buildup of Ryn and Anya's relationship. It was like they were flirting and Anya was being coy and it was cute...and then there was a random time skip to 4 months later and Ryn is already her boyfriend. I feel like I got cheated out of seeing how they actually got together. Ryn is not the typical love interest I like in books, but he's cute and sweet, a perfect fit for the FMC. I wish we'd gotten to see more of Ryn and Anya together.

Also the book ends with "Anya, Nat, Enzo, and Theo will return" as a teaser for the next book in the series...who is Enzo? I searched the entire book as if there were some main character I'd completely forgotten and there's...not an Enzo in the book.

Thank you to Victory Editing for providing this book to me!

The Forgotten Prince was a quick read. The storyline was quick and held onto my attention with something new happening with every chapter although it was predictable. With it being such a short read, you can’t connect to the characters as much but you can get a sense of them. I’m interested to see what the next book will hold.. hopefully a plot twist?

If you are interested in reading a romance with a twist of magical realism, then this is the book for you! The prologue sinks its hooks into you by grabbing your attention, creating mystery, and thrilling you to read more. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I had a lot of questions that needed to be answered. Aleryn is a Fae. A royal Fae at that. While he was a baby, his uncle had his wings clipped and banished from the Kingdom of Mairene. Wanting a better life for her son, his mother escapes and gives her baby over to their family advisor to raise. We are transported to years later, where Aleryn and Theo are older, and meet Anya and Nat. Anya and Nat are expanding their business and commissioned to get a shed built close to their house. From then on, we are introduced to the attraction and pulling urge between Aleryn and Anya.
Thank you, NetGalley and Victory Editing, for this copy! I don’t read a lot of fantasy or magical realism, but this book has put this genre on my radar. My only complaint was that the book was too short and ended on a cliffhanger, so I expect a second book to be in the works. Other than that, the storyline flowed. There was even some SPICE added to the mix, which I enjoyed. I loved the characters in the book. They complimented each other, and their storyline was easy to follow. They were also relatable. I could picture the characters among the individuals I interact with daily or in a series I am interested in watching. Overall, it was good, and I can’t wait for the second book in this series.

The Forgotten Prince by Akira Varma.

A delightful and intriguing adventure in the world of Mairene.
Diving right into the action with Samira in the prologue, i was struck by the emotion so easily conjured by Varma. I was right there with Samira and felt that her genuine distress, fear and love for Alerynwas perfectly delivered,

With minimal spoilers....

I loved
♥ Anya and Nats friendship
♥ The playful, young, fresh chemistry between Ryn and Anya
♥ The jeopardy
♥ The pace

I loved less
♦ The more juvenile writing style
♦ The inconsistencies and repetitive nature of the writing
♦ Grammatical errors
♦ Sometimes awkward phrasing that had me rewording it in my head as i was reading

I would 100% recommend this book as a YA or Teen+ QuickReads text. Particularly for a younger audience that's new to fantasy.

“The Forgotten Prince,” by Akira Varma

I really liked this book. A runaway prince in the human realm finding his mate who is a human. I would say most of the book is lighthearted, at least with the romance part of the book. The ending cliffhanger was insane, now I really need to wait for the next book? I will wait patiently to get answers on what will happen next. I also hope to get to know the side characters more in the next book. The only thing I didn’t like was it was too short. 4 out of 5 stars.

Ryn and Anya meet when Ryn shows up at her house to build the shed she's always wanted. When they start to feel this instant connection pulling at them they start hanging out. Four months into dating Ryn had to go out of town. That's when all hell broke loose. Anya and Theo must fight back and try to escape while Ryn and Nat try to figure out what happened.

This is a good book. I am disappointed that I'm left with a cliffhanger at the end!

Thanks netgalley for the opportunity to read this book!

This was so fun and quick. I actually has no idea with was a novella, and was shocked! It was a great read, and I can’t wait for the second book especially with that ending!

This was such a cute and quick read! I didn’t realize that it was more novella size and was honestly disappointed when it ended, especially with that cliffhanger. But I was disappointed in the best way! I wanted it to keep going, I didn’t want to leave this world!!

As is normal with novella length books, everything was rather fast paced. It did move a little too quickly for my liking, but I think the series has the ability to go far! I’m not a big fan of insta-love but considering the fated mates scenario of “knowing immediately when you see them” it made sense and fit the story.

I love the diversity of the characters and I thought the way the characters interacted with each other, that found family feeling, was decently written.

The Forgotten Prince is book one in the Thread of Fate series by Akira Varma.
This was a phenomenal fantasy novella! This book was absolutely amazing cannot wait to get into the second one.
A very well-written book. It kept me engaged the whole time and I continued to want more!!!

I would like to note that I received this ARC with the mindset that I would provide an honest review.
This book was a fun ride and had an interesting premise. I typically read full length novels, so this novella was a break from my norm. I loved the characters; with an emphasis on Anya and Natasha. I loved their relationship and the dynamic the two had with their friendship. The plot moved quickly and led a nice path to future books but I do wish that this could have been a full length novel. I also think that the writing was a bit juvenile but I also teach little people so I am use to the writing style. I will say that it also needs another run through for editing purposes.

While this book is not favorite, I will definitely check out the next in the series for a quick read.

Thank you to Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the concept of this book, but I was craving a lot more detail. I understand the concept of mates but needed a slower burn, even if it was just the characters having confusion with why they felt the way they felt. It felt forced and rushed.

I enjoyed the characters of Anya and Nat and learning about their bakery. I felt like Aleryn and Theo lacked a bit of dimension.

There are a lot of questions I have. For instance, why do they not have pointed ears if every other fae does? How are the fae hidden from the humans? How did their family learn to blend in?

I did enjoy the action fantasy portion of this book the most and would read the second one hoping it answers my questions.

Nice story with so much potential however since this was a shorter story the plot felt rushed and there was very little character development or world building. I'm hoping the next book is longer and can explain a bit more for us. I typically like short stories however I find in fantasy it is hard to fully capture the readers attention when we are used to such amazing world building like Blood and Ash and ACOTAR.

The Forgotten Prince is a short novella (super fast to read) about Anya, a human baker who owns a bakery with the help of her best friend and Ryn, a fae prince who has been hiding in the mortal world.

The book has dual pov (Anya and Nat) which is great because Nat’s pov was my favorite, I really loved her personality (maybe even more than Anya). Ryn is my least favorite character but nothing that bothered me too much while reading.

Even though is a small and quick book, I found it super sweet and cozy to read. It ends with a cliffhanger so I’ll probably be reading the next one to enjoy more of this universe.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of The Forgotten Prince in exchange for my honest review.

I liked this novella. It took me only just over an hour to finish. I did think the writing was the weakest aspect for me and at times some of the details/words chosen were repetitive but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good story.

I think where this fell just a little flat for me was the Rom-Com/Mortal side of the story. I think going into it I was expecting more of the Fantasy element but was very happy when the story went back to the Fantasy realm.

I wished Ryn was a little more complex (that doesn't mean he wasn't great, nor does it not mean I didn't find him charming and mysterious), however, I really enjoyed Anya.

All in all, I do want to continue this series.

"The Forgotten Prince" by Akira Varma introduces readers to Aeryn, a fae prince leading a humble life as a carpenter in the human realm, and Anya, a human baker. The premise, blending baking and fae elements, captured my interest, along with the captivating prologue that sets the stage for their encounter.
Nonetheless, the novella could be improved through comprehensive editing to address grammatical errors and repetitive language. Despite these aspects, the story unfolds rapidly, weaving together Aeryn's regal heritage and Anya's humble nature as their bond strengthens. While the narrative delves into their relationship, I longed for further exploration of their histories and the captivating faerie realm.
Overall, I found "The Forgotten Prince" enjoyable yet felt it lacked depth that could be expanded in future installments. The potential for a full-length novel or a series of novellas to delve deeper into character dynamics and the rich faerie realm leaves me intrigued and eager for more.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC

A good start to a new fantasy series. I loved the concept of the banished prince, that was really interesting. I also found it so cute that out fmc was a baker and owned her own bakery with her best friends. We like an independant woman! I did however wish that the book was longer, because I didn't feel we got enough action or exploration of the relationships. But I'm sure we'll see more in the following books.

This is my second book from Akira and while I didn't like it quite as much as Dream a Little Dream of Me, I did enjoy it! I don't tend to read novellas because I find them to be too fast paced generally, and that was true for this story as well but I'm starting to get used to it. The prologue was very intriguing so I was invested right from the start! Ryn, a Fae Prince has been hiding in the human world since he was a baby because his evil uncle seized the throne from his family, meets Anya, a human baker. The first bit is like a contemporary romance meet-cute, which I loved! The instant connection felt very believable to me. and of course they are fated mates! The second half of the book dives into the fae realm and becomes quite exciting as Ryn's past catches up with him. Anya's bestie Nat gets POV chapters and I really enjoyed her spunk! Ryn also has a bestie Theo who I enjoyed and I'm excited to learn more about both of them!

4 stars - An engaging and fun book that was a bit slow to get going but once it did was cute and cosy. Had a great time reading it

This was a fun novella with a lot of potential! It laid the ground work for the (hopefully) series quickly but efficiently.

I think there were one or two things I'd loved to have quickly clarified, for example that the humans already knew that fae existed, as well as their land/country (Nat seemed surprised to see them, but not at their entire existance). Also, at one point Berin was referred to as an elf but then later said he was fae? Not sure if that was just an editing error.

It took up to 40% (per my Kindle) for Anya and Ryn to officially get together, even though he had been referenced as her boyfriend? It seemed a bit long to drag that out. However, the beginning of their love story was very enjoyable to read (though I felt the writing of Anya's thoughts were a bit juvenile surrounding it). I enjoyed seeing how fierce a friend Nat was once the story picked up.

Overall, it was a quick and fun read (finished in just over an hour). I think it would be perfect for people starting to dip their toe into the fantasy world.
