Advance Praise

""A wholesome, medical romance about second chances.""

""As soon as they set foot in the ER veterinarian clinic, Dr. Angela Michaels knew there was something special about widower James (Jimmy) Ross and his son Matt. Mr. Ross is dripping wet, carrying an injured dog he accidentally hit during the rainstorm. Matt is beside himself with worry. Maybe it is James' kind eyes or Matt's caring spirit, but Angela cannot stop thinking about the handsome man and his sweet twelve-year-old son. For James, the feeling is mutual; he falls head over heels for Angela—even his son approves of the beautiful, soft-spoken vet.

But for Angela, it isn't that simple. Her knee-jerk reaction is to pull back when things become serious —she comes with secrets and a shocking past she isn't proud of. Meanwhile, Jimmy faces a family emergency when Matt becomes severely ill and is hospitalized. He feels helpless, watching his son suffer. But Angela surprises them all when she swoops in to help, giving Matt a second chance at life.

""Angel's Heart"" by Charlene Tess and Judi Thompson is a charming novel about love after loss and the sacrifices we're willing to make for the betterment of others. Angela and Jimmy have undeniable chemistry, but they also face challenging obstacles that threaten their new relationship, including emotional baggage, secrets, and a health crisis—the authors have done an excellent job of highlighting the complexities of modern love.

Besides the absorbing love story burgeoning between Angela and Jimmy, I enjoyed the surprising twist—I didn't see it coming! The authors skillfully provided readers with little tidbits of information along the way, particularly concerning Angela's past, giving just enough to allude to something deeper brewing.

The diversity in characters was my favorite aspect of the book. The authors have created a tight- knit group of family and close friends, which provides the perfect small-town feel. A quirky animal lover named Hollywood entertained me with her sense of humor and compassion as she took on a supportive, nurturing role toward Angela. Jimmy's parents oozed kindness and graciously welcomed Angela into their family, and a children's nurse, Dena, the wife of a long- time friend of Jimmy's, lifted Matt's spirits during his time in the hospital. While this book can be read as a standalone, it is the second book in the Secondhand Hearts Series, and many of these characters appear in the first book!

""Angel's Heart"" by Charlene Tess and Judi Thompson is a wholesome novel for romantics. While it has moments of poignancy, the overall vibe is light-hearted—leaving readers feeling wrapped in warmth. Further, the characters are likable and fit flawlessly into the storyline, making it easy to immerse yourself in the content. —Reviewed by Stephanie Elizabeth Long for Reader Views"

A heartwarming story about two people who find each other, only to learn they have something huge that ties them together. Both Jimmy and Angela are starting over and hoping for a bright future. When they meet one rainy night, neither can stop thinking of the other. Their relationship grows fast, but it works. Matt, Jimmy’s son, is an adorable preteen, who is sick. She instantly falls into n love with Matt.

I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t wait to see what would happen. Their connection was believable and they were perfect for each other. Matt and Jimmy’s family were also great additions to the story. I was sad to see the book end and look forward to reading more by these authors. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
