Description

Armed robbers on Liverpool’s streets test police to their limits…

A spate of post office robberies escalates when a member of the public who intervenes is attacked, and ultimately dies in hospital.

A frantic search for the culprits is underway. But DI Jordan Carr and his team are dealing with local scallies who have a canny knack of avoiding the authorities.

The detectives close in as the gang starts making mistakes, and cracks begin to appear between them.

Yet whilst Jordan gives the case all he’s got, in a cruel twist of fate, his own family is put in grave danger.

If he has prioritised public safety over that of his own kin, can he ever live with himself should they come to harm?

BODY IN THE WAY is the eighth standalone title in this gritty series of police procedural books by veteran crime writer Diane Dickson.

A great double mystery story that Jordan is trying to figure out before it’s way too late. I feel like this was a 2 part book that is all linked and I enjoyed it very much.

I am always excited when I find a series of crime thrillers set in Liverpool. That most beautiful and glorious city was the place I called home many moons ago. Diane M. Dickson brings the city and its people to life as a perfect backdrop to an equally well finessed plot.
Jordan Carr is a great character. The right combination of hardened detective, and family man who hasn't lost his compassion through the rigours of his work.
I loved the three lads involved in the post office raids. They are so completely representative of teenage youths today who have had all their hopes and expectations removed by our fast collapsing economy.
I don't like using clichés - but this really is a page turner.
