Description

In just a few months Harp Evans will be officially coming of age and graduating from high school. She will be free from the mother that never wanted her, the house that never felt like home, and the disappointment of the last seventeen years. What she doesn’t know is that her mother has been holding onto a secret that has the potential to derail her dreams and destroy her already faulty sense of self.

A self-proclaimed recluse, Harp spends most of her time practicing the cello, in the hopes of earning a full scholarship that will grant her freedom, but will also send her away from her best friend Connor Williams, who is becoming more than just a friend.

As revelations are made, will Harp still feel the same way about leaving everyone that cares about her behind? Or will she continue to pursue the life she’s been dreaming of for as long as she can remember?

Advance Praise

"Cassie Shine is making her mark with her debut novel Harp's Song. It is both gripping and emotional. Harp's Song tackles some tough topics like abuse, neglect, and intimidation. Her storytelling is engaging and kept me turning page after page until the very end."

"Wow. Warning: You won't be able to put this book down! Cassie is an fantastic writer who knows how to keep her readers on their toes just waiting to see what will happen next! She also knows how to capture Harp's reaction perfectly! I highly look forward to continuing with this series to see what happens next!"

"I really loved this story, it was exceptionally well written and the characters were all super amazing. The author definitely wrote a great storyline on abuse and the effects it can have on the victim. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a great young adult read of love, romance and hidden dark family secrets. I assure you won't be disappointed!"

"Harp's Song blew me away, what a premise for book, Harp is the girl we see in the playground who kept to herself, never said much, she suffers at home in the hands of a mother who at her best is absent, and at her worse is physically and verbally abusive. Harp's Song is a coming of age story that breaks your heart, and slowly pieces it back together again, changing it in the process. It's a story about second chances, best laid plans and following your heart. From the first page to the last lines I was enthralled and couldn't put it down."

"Finding out where you come from can sometimes be devastating, knowing why you were never wanted can tear you to shreds. After some serious soul searching and riding the line of temptation a little too closely an accident will bring everything to light and Harp will have to become the adult she thought she always was and take care of a mom who wants to know her, and love the man who she was meant for. This was an amazing novel with little editing error, which is always a plus! I will definitely be recommending this book in the future."
