Description
The #1 New York Times-bestselling author presents a novel about an injured cop who must fight to bring down a pair of twisted killers…
Natural Resources police officer, Sloan Cooper, and her partner had just taken down three men preying on hikers in the Western Maryland mountains. Driving back, she pulled in at a convenience store—and walked right into a robbery in progress. One gunshot from a jittery thief was about to change her world.
After being shocked back to life on the operating table, she has a long recovery ahead, so she moves back to her parents’ peaceful house in Heron’s Rest. As for the boyfriend who dumped her via text while she was in the hospital, good riddance.
She may be down, but she’s not out. So when a woman vanishes, leaving her car behind in a supermarket parking lot, Sloan searches online for similar cases. She finds them, spread across three states. Men and women, old and young—the missing seem to have nothing in common. And the abductions keep happening.
Luckily, the new man in her life shares her passion for solving this mystery. But it will take every ounce of endurance to get to the dark heart of this bizarre case—and she's willing to risk her life again if that's what it takes to stop the horror.

Spine chilling murder mystery. A tale I've never read before. Just the right amount of awful to be riveting. Great characters, even the bad ones
Snappy dialogue and beautiful descriptions of an area of the country that is spectacular.
I loved it

Per usual Nora Roberts kicked off at a leisurely pace as she masterfully crafted the characters, weaving together three intertwining tales. You felt like you were having coffee with them—classic Nora Roberts magic! But when everything clicked, oh boy, it was a wild ride! The serial killer plot took a sharp turn I totally didn’t see coming. Trust me, I won’t spill the beans—gotta keep some surprises intact!

Now this is a romantic suspense you'll love! This is one of my favorite Nora Roberts books. If you love her older books, you'll enjoy this!

I loved this one by Nora Roberts. It kept me engaged the entire time. I didn't rush through reading it like I normally do. I really wanted to savor the story and the new information that I was finding out with each chapter that passed.
I loved Sloan character. She was such a strong woman and was determined to heal up after being shot and then having to be shocked back to life. I loved how she was working so hard to find the missing pieces and the connection to the missing persons. She had a wonderful family unit that helped her heal and with her budding romance with her neighbor Nash, she had another person to help bounce ideas off of.
I really enjoyed the way the story played out and how we were always given just enough information to keep us guessing at who and what would be next.

Hidden Nature by Nora Roberts was a little outside my comfort zone. I normally love her romantic, fantasy series, and have devoured all of them. Hidden Nature is more of a hard core mystery, and I admit, the mystery part of it was very disturbing to me. Enough so, that I keep thinking about it. Which, really, is my definition of a good book - one that stays with me, one that I keep thinking about. I was very pleased to discover that the main characters were as admirable, funny, and great with dialogue as all of the Nora Roberts books I’ve read. The main character, Sloan, is intelligent, strong, and very likeable. Her family is very important to her, and are also strong, well-developed characters. I’m so happy I went out of my comfort zone with this one. I definitely give Hidden Nature 5 stars!

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me access to this advanced readers copy. Ms Roberts has written another enthralling mystery, with engaging characters and believable plot.
One thing I truly admire about her writing is it never seems to get stale or repetitive and this is a shining example!!

Sloan Cooper is injured on the job. To recuperate from her injury, she temporarily moves back into her parents' home. As she heals she stumbles across details of a nearby missing persons case. The case is difficult for law enforcement because they have no clues. Sloan begins noticing other similar cases. Can the authorities find the criminals before another person is abducted? Sloan's physical recovery prompts her realization that she wants to be closer to family. When a change in the local NRP office happens, Sloan seizes the opportunity. Her new home needs renovation, her contractor is knowledgeable and handsome. Is he a distraction to Sloan?
Nora Roberts stays within the romance genre but cleverly combines it with a thriller. Missing persons, criminal suspects, and home renovation are all woven together to ensure a true page-turner. Sloan is a strong and competent woman. She is interesting and a terrific main character. Her ability to focus the investigation and discover the abductors is fascinating. There is still romance throughout the story but in this story, it is not the main focus. As she does so well, Nora Roberts crafts a book that captures the reader's attention until the turn of the last page.
Thank you NetGalley, Nora Roberts, and St. Martins Press for the early reader copy.

Oh my, Nora Roberts has done it again. Just when I think she can't possibly create characters that I would love as much as others, she does!
Sloan works as a Natural Resources Officer in Maryland. After capturing a trio of criminals, Sloan and her partner stopped for gas and drinks. She interrupts a robbery and is shot, causing her to have to be resuscitated multiple times. Returning home to recover from the gunshot, Sloan gets bored and finds a case to investigate on her own time. A woman disappears the day before Thanksgiving, leaving her car in the grocery store parking lot. Something about this case strikes a chord in Sloan.
Nash Littlefield is a former Wall Street worker, who leaves New York to become a general contractor in the mountains of Maryland (same town as Sloan). He worked with Habitat for Humanity all through college and enjoyed working with his hands. Now he becomes fascinated with Sloan.
Now this can not be classified as a mystery as we the readers know who did it, especially since we get their perspective and movements. But this makes me think of a mashup between Brynne Weaver's Butcher & Blackbird (but not as funny) and Rebecca Zanetti's Laurel Snow with Nora Roberts's normal style.
I enjoyed this one very much, especially the side characters like Theo and Drea, along with the dogs, Mop and Tic.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC.

Another Nora Roberts masterpiece! Nora writes such wonderful, well developed characters that make the story more interesting. The dynamics between Sloan and her family were sweet and so endearing! I can’t wait to purchase and reread!

A big thank you to #NetGalley and St. Martins Press for reigniting my love of Nora Roberts books.
Hidden Nature should not be a hidden secret. It is an excellent romance/thriller/family drama of a book. With excellent character profiles; including Sloan, her partner in NRP, and the Fix It brothers Nora Roberts has written a great book that has inspired me to pick up
More of her work.

It’s amazing to me how authors come up with their stories and Hidden Nature is no exception. Ms. Roberts has created a thrilling roller coaster of a fiction novel with elements of mystery, romance, family relationships and a little horror all the way up to the final chapter! Sloan is a Natural Resource Officer who returns to her home town to recover from a recent injury. When a promotion is offered to have her remain in the area, she is excited for the opportunity and because of her investigative abilities, she gets involved in a case outside her jurisdiction. From there, the story takes off. Five stars for a book I could not put down until the last page was complete.

I absolutely loved this book.
It had so much going on and I was strapped into my seat and going along for the ride!
When Sloan gets injured on the job, she returns to her families home to recover, in the beautiful Heron’s Rest mountain lake?
We watch her progress, her way back to herself slowly and rebuild her life.
Meanwhile, the Littlefield Brothers, two brothers from New York moved into a dilapidated house down the road and start up a business, and a few romances, lol
Add in multiple abductions, several people who just vanished and Sloan is on the case.
I loved it all, the setting, the characters, the mystery and the romance!
This will forever go down as one of my favorite books by this author!

As usual, Nora Roberts puts together a wonderful world with compelling characters. Great female MC – strong without being overbearing. Absolutely devoured it. I so wish this was a series so I could stay involved with the characters. A must-read.

Nora Roberts is the queen of writing! I absolutely love her and every book she writes. Her characters pull at my heart strings, and stay in my memory rent-free. This book was no exception, and I cannot wait to read the next one. The stories and the towns have my whole heart. I love the extra mystery element And all the side characters that bring the story to life. Five stars.⭐️

Thanks to Netgally and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I love the way that Nora Roberts tells a story. The mystery/suspense, the romance, the details about the story and the setting, and the way she just connects you to the characters and their story is not something a lot of author's can do. This story was so good. The first chapter had me hooked and I was invested in seeing Sloane recover, find herself and what's really important in her life, and kick some major butt at her job. The mystery kept me guessing, the romance wasn't over the top, and I loved every minute.
