Description
The Mysterious Case of the Missing Motive is the first book in The Redemption Detective Agency, a spin-off from the Charlie Kinsley Mystery series, by USA Today bestselling author Michele PW (Pariza Wacek). The Redemption Detective Agency is a funny, twisty cozy mystery series set in the 1990s featuring silver sleuths solving cold cases. Ideal for fans of the Thursday Murder Club.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or maybe a gin and tonic.
Emily Hildebrandt has run into a bit of a rough patch. She's lost her job, her fiancé and her apartment. Still, she never expected to be desperate enough to accept an invitation to live with her eccentric Aunt Tilde in Redemption, Wisconsin.
But, beggars can't be choosers. Even if part of the deal is she has to pretend to work at her aunt's latest hare-brained scheme, The Redemption Detective Agency.
Seriously, the woman is a retired nurse. Why does she think she's remotely qualified to run a detective agency, especially in a creepy little town like Redemption?
But, when a strange phone call suddenly thrusts them into an actual case, Emily finds herself hoping her aunt really does know what she's doing ... or an innocent person may be the one to suffer the consequences.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Michele Pariza Wacek for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for The Mysterious Case of the Missing Motive coming out October 15, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own. .
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. This was a short book. I loved the 1990s setting. It definitely makes things more fun for me. The 1990s were the bomb, lol! I think Emily and her aunt are a fun duo. The mystery was great and I love the small town vibes. I would definitely read more books by this author!
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries!
Emily's loses her relationship and source of income under unfair circumstances, and she has nowhere to go - so her quirky aunt offers her a job, lodging, and a bigger adventure than anticipated. 'The Mysterious Case of the Missing Motive' has the same satisfying blend of small-town characters, sweet romance, and humor as a good Hallmark movie with the addition of a disputed murder investigation.
If you enjoy reading quick cozy mysteries, then I recommend this book to you! I am looking forward to the sequel.
Special thanks to the Publisher, Love-Based Publishing, and Net Galley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
