Description
They’re in the number one watched game in the world… or so they were told. But they have no memory of who or where they are. Something beyond their wildest imaginations awaits to mercilessly strike them down.
And looming in the darkness is something worse... much worse. Green—named after the color of car he's driving—awakens on the side of a dark highway surrounded by dense forest.
And he's in an old muscle car with no way to tell time, no cell phone, and the radio doesn’t work. When he encounters others like himself, they have to join forces to unravel the mystery surrounding them.
Yet, trust doesn't come easily—someone amongst them is a saboteur. With their lives at stake, they are compelled to engage in a race where being last means certain death.
They must disentangle the truth that threatens to consume them, before they spiral out of control.
Spiral is a gripping tale of survival, coalition, and the terrifying secrets that lie hidden in the shadows.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Before we start with the review, please remember these are my honest opinions based on the book I have received.
The positives:
The genre being horror instantly piqued my interest as I’m quite a horror lover. The cover also caught my attention. It’s quite an interesting cover and I actually loved the colour scheme of it especially with the car and the figure. I find that the cover fits the story well.
I also loved how we were immersed into the action from the first chapter. I was also quite intrigued by the book taking us into a game where the main character has to stay alive. I enjoyed reading about the characters struggles and worries throughout the book and how they overcame the complications along the way. I’d also say the descriptions were well done and I could easily picture the scene as I read.
The negatives:
While I had mostly positives to say, there were a few small things I liked less about this book. There were a few odd sentences here and there while reading that took me out of the experience as they either had a small mistake in them or the sentences read odd/confusing. With a little further editing this would be an easy fix.
Conclusion:
Overall, I’d rate this a four out of five stars. It was a really good book and a great concept.
What a fun ride this was! I started reading and you are in it from the first moments. I loved that you are trying to figure out what is going on along with the main characters. Everyone has lost their memories, the game you are trying to win is also trying to kill you, the monsters were creepy, the reality interesting, it was great. Really I got about halfway through the book before dinner and told my husband I am not available this evening - I need to keep reading to see what happens next! This was a really fun one and I look forward to reading more from the author.
A fast-paced dark thriller from page one. Buckle in for this one or you'll get whiplash. Intriguing, mysterious, with a perfect setting.
This premise is one of my favorites, so my rating maybe a bit biased, I loved it lol
I thought it was extremely fast paced so I ran through this quick.
People trapped?
Crazy shit going on?
Is it paranormal or is this just evil humans??
All of the above maybe, check it out and see.
This is well worth a read if you like what I lovingly call things like this, trapped room horror lol
I am not a 'gamer' but omg this book was just the bomb..
'Green' wakes up in a car with no memory of anything but he knows he's scared.
This book is pacy wild action led ride of your life kind of read. It is everything I thought it would and more. It gave me thrills, twists and I absolutely loved it..
"A jarring SCA-REEEEEE! emanated from the forest, a banshee, a death scream from a thing I didn’t want to see again. Though the temperature continued to feel like a warm summer night, chills coursed through my body, and I shivered, hugging myself."
This is like Need for Speed meets The Purge kinda. 👌
Sci-fi horror/thriller...Suspense..suppressed memories... survival.. sacrifices and more...
Fast paced and reads like an action movie. I had no idea where the story was heading and I often found myself feeling perplexed yet invested. The whole ride / reading experience gave me whiplash (esp the twists and info dump in the end) but I was determined to find out what's going to happen next.
Happy publication day! (Oct 8, 2024)

3.5✨
A man suddenly wakes up to find himself at the wheel of a stationary car. He has no memory of who he is or what he is doing there, but he knows he is in danger from a ferocious monster. Heading down the road, he comes upon a petrol station & restaurant where people are gathered all with similar cars but in different colours.
The man finds out that he is named Green (after the colour of the car & the clothes he is wearing) & they are all competing in a race filmed for the number one watched game in the world. At stake is a prize worth multi-millions but the losers & their families are put to death. Green can't believe that he would volunteer for such a race so why is he here?
Wow, this was certainly different. I really liked the concept & the feeling of not knowing what is going on - it makes you empathise with the drivers so much more. The storyline was well worked out & it keeps the reader engaged. On the downside, the world-building wasn't quite as developed as I would have liked, even after a huge information dump in the final chapters, & you are left with several questions afterwards. Not sure if this could possibly lead to a sequel or not? Overall, this book was entertaining & fast-paced but leaves you wondering.
TWs: violence, death, blood, arachnids.
My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, BooksGoSocial, for the opportunity to read an ARC.
What an enjoyable and captivating read this was! From the very beginning, I was completely engrossed in the story. I particularly appreciated the way the reader is drawn into the mystery alongside the main characters. The concept of everyone losing their memories, the deadly nature of the game, the eerie monsters, and the intriguing reality created a truly captivating atmosphere. I found myself so captivated that I reached the halfway point of the book before dinner and informed my husband that I would be unavailable for the evening as I needed to continue reading to discover what would happen next. This book provided a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I eagerly anticipate reading more works by this author.
I would like to express my gratitude to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book.
