Description
A chewed-up corpse high in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area leaves Colorado hunting guide Allison Coil mystified. Obvious signs suggest the dead man is the victim of a mountain lion attack, but Allison's instincts tell her otherwise. Miles away in downtown Glenwood Springs, a controversial candidate for U.S. Senate is shot during a campaign stop as news-paper reporter Duncan Bloom watches, dodging the long-range gunfire. Trapline follows Coil and Bloom as their investigations collide, exposing the dark depths of human indifference.

Allison Coil is a hunting guide in the mountains of Colorado and one day on a scouting expedition, she comes across a body that has been savagely attacked. A mountain lion is labelled as the cause, But Allison isn’t so sure. Meanwhile, reporter Duncan Bloom is at a press conference when a candidate for the U.S. Senate is gunned down. Could these two incidents be related? Duncan and Allison will investigate to find the truth, and in doing so, will put themselves in the crosshairs of a killer.
Politics are uglier today than they have ever been, with muckraking, phone tapping and physical attacks the norm. Stevens tape into that vein and produces a storyline that could be pulled right from the headlines. A great read
